Recap of Story till Now

The show starts with Abhay's wedding preparations going on at his house. Abhay's older sister, Ratna, is married to Surbhi's older brother, Ranvijay. So Ranvijay and his family come to Abhay's house for the wedding celebrations. It is shown that Abhay is not happy with his wedding because him and Surbhi are in love with each other. Then Surbhi discloses to Abhay that she is pregnant with his child. Abhay decides to run away with Surbhi. They try to run away once but the plan fails. On the day of Abhay's wedding, they manage to run away with the help of Abhay's best friend, Amreek. Both families realize Abhay and Surbhi ran away so the hunt begins. Both families want to kill Abhay and Surbhi for ruining the respect of the families. Abhay and Surbhi get married in a mandir. In this hunt, Amreek is shot and killed by Ranvijay. Abhay and Surbhi are caught and tortured. Just when they are about to be killed, Abhay begs them to spare Surbhi and mentions that she is pregnant. Abhay's grandmother stops everyone from killing Abhay and Surbhi.

At this point a flashback is shown:

Abhay's father, Markandey, had a sister who fell in love with someone and was pregnant with his child. Markandey hung his sister and her lover to death in front of the whole village. Before dying, the sister cursed the family saying that they will never get a heir for the family.

This curse has proven to be true so far. Tribhuvan and Seema have no child at all (seems like they can't have kids). Vishnu and Kajal have a little daughter. But so far there is no grandson is the family (no heir).

Abhay's grandmother thinks that perhaps Surbhi is carrying a baby boy so just for the baby Abhay and Surbhi are kept alive. They are taken to Abhay's house. Abhay's mother, Pushpa, doesn't like Surbhi because she blames her for the fact that Abhay ran away from his wedding. Pushpa tries to kill the child Surbhi is carrying but fails. But one night Surbhi is in lots of pain. Abhay secretly takes her to the hospital and doctors say she had a miscarriage (probably because of all the torture she went through in the past days). Abhay and Surbhi know that they will be killed if they tell someone about the miscarriage so they decide to hide the news...
