According to my understanding of life you don't behave badly with a person because they behaved badly with you. You do not come down to their level in behaviour.Anami may be hurting for her being abandoned but I hope they don't spoil her character by making her being ride to her mother.
The @Bold is the value taught by your parents or an inherited trait of some kind ancestor. Nature vs Nurture. We are a combination of these two.
Anami's values were taught by Madhoo Pathak especially. So she was kind and fought for justice, Madhoo Pathak also constantly teaches her through stories and corrects her all the time, like the Darthi pranam . But when she was taken out of Benaras she lost that moral compass. So she has all the values that come out in bashans but her inherited traits are coming out too.
The most common thing Satrupa could find in Anami and she was so proud of was Anami's Tevar which was bigger than Satrupa's at her age. That is not a good trait. The direct result of that Tevar was cutting the tutor's hair. Madhoo Pathak would have been disappointed in Anami and corrected her, Satrupa paid off the tutor and did not ask Anami to apologize. Badi ghar ki maa aur beti. That is why Anami's moral compass is shaking. She is 17 years old and still forming her values. She needs guidance and correction from adults. Satrupa is feeling the direct effects of that because she is not correcting Anami. Sometimes Satrupa herself does not think what Anami is doing is bad as in the case of the tutor hair being cut. The LM values are not the same as the Pathaks and so Anami's moral compass is shaking.
