Satrupa had two sons first... both babies died.. not two girls ... distinctly remember. But given that Nartottam is lurking in the background as a possible heir , maybe she decided to keep the boy... or because she lost two boys , she decided to keep the boy...

Oh did not hear that bit about two boys being her first-borns. So that bit is ruled out then.

Could be that too...since she was threatened by Narottam's presence. Kind of using Vatsalya as her definite ticket to the thrown. She groomed him well too. But I also think she feared for Anami. There has to be a strong reason to give her up.

Also Im not quite sure but the Guruji did tell her to give up her first-born that is Vatsalya, out of the twins. 'Then is he too part of the big conspiracy. Most likely.

I don't think ... and I HOPE NOT ... that Vikram had anything to do with the death of his granddaughters. But yes ... the fact that Anami is a girl is definitely coloring his vision and judgement about accepting her as his grandchild and heir. he prefers the idiot Avdhoot to the admittedly uncultured Anami ... uncultured as in how different she is from the sophisticated regal Singh khandaan.

Baldev ... I think it's more to do with the fact that he was kept in the dark by Satrupa ... a wife with whom he has anyway a number of marital issues. This is another one ... and a huge one ... being kept in the dark about the existence of his own child for so many years. It's a pity Tom Alter is so ill, so we cannot find out how big a role Guruji had to play in Satrupa giving away Anami, and keeping the rest of the family in the dark about it.

My biggest issue is why did Satrupa give Anami away? Was it because she was the girl, and Satrupa wanted to keep the boy with her? Did it cement her own positin in the family? Many times women are mistreated if they have only daughters, and their position changes if they have sons. If that was the case, then Satrupa was being hypocritical in talking about Vikram accepting a girl as heir, if she herself kept her son over her daughter.

I hope we get a clarification for Satrupa's reasons at some point in the story ... that part fascinates e ... also because Satrupa herself is such a strong woman, and has apparently been taking care of the business for so many years. Also, if her position was cemented in the family after Baldev was disinherited, did she never think of getting her daughter back?

Hi Diya,

Since Newbie confirms Satrupa gave birth to two boys, that angle is ruled out. Vikram is grey for sure though. There is more to him that what we see on the surface. Baldev might have gone astray for a reason too.

About Baldev, he might be rejecting Anami for the sake of being rebellious with Satrupa. He does not want Satrupa to have her way. And yes for sure feels wronged for not being told about his daughter's existence. Wonder why though he does not care for Narottam. After all it is their (Sudha & Baldev's love-child) or is he really? There is so much bitterness in him. I wonder why. So much mystery around Baldev's character too.

Yes read about Tom Alter's illness. I like him as an actor. The role suited him too. Hope that he returns soon. Hard to guess on whose side Guruji is. For he told her to give up her first born, and that was Vatsalya. Instead Satrupa gives up Anami.

I still think Satrupa gave up Anami to shield her. It may not be the only reason. I also think she might have decided to keep the boy, to win over Baldev. Though that never happened. Vatsayla too tried his best to bring his parents together, yet failed.

And I am sure Damo will someday let everyone know that eventually they (Satrupa and she) planned to bring Anami (could be only after Vatsalya's coronation) or legally being declared the heir. That is after he turned 18?

Absolutely love how the unfolding of the characters is happening in the show... Its slow, its subtle and keeps us all guessing.😆...

Tom Alter is ill ? Oh did not know that. Explains Guruji's absence.

Not very sure about GUruji's hand in the whole mess. I assume he knew the life of the first born is in danger. And so wanted the first born to be sent away. Now he might have known that the first born is a boy and second a girl. ANd he knew Satrupa did not listen to him. He must have known that the girl has a very long life and nobody can touch her. And wanted the girl to be in Lal Mahal. If only Satrupa has followed his advice she might have had both the children now. Though she may have lost out on Royal Steel.

Having said that - this is RKC. Guruji's character also will be revealed in due time 😉

Vikram is not only particular about a boy as heir. He also wants that boy to be of royal blood. Hence the rejection of Narottam. And almost acceptance of Avdhoot - though he is not a direct heir.

Very well written post dear.
Yes it all boils down to the fact that girls are still discriminated against in our society. Even though such discrimination is not put into words.

As for Satrupa her giving up her daughter and keeping the son can be put more on her desire for giving the family an heir sorry a male heir rather than concern for the daughter. As this show is more a game of thrones even Satrupa could be in this for power through her son/daughter.

Let's see what happens further.

discrimination for girl is in root of our society so you can never expect that it would get over totally
in my family i was given everything equal as by brother be it love or any materialistic need or yoou can say more than my brother i am loved
but my parent will alwaysstate that in whole village or our whole family heily in which who are even from higher class has not done anything equally for their girl child they all have always given boy child more than the girl child
i am like papa after telling this sentence you somewhere today told me that for you i was a girl whom you given everything which they are not given rightfully why you consider both of us not as your child only why this boy and girl question came from you are telling as if girl always deserve less than boy child but i have given you everything
