We've been focussing so much on Baldev-Satrupa that we often underestimate the royal patriarch's role in scripting their mutual dislike and the maze of relationships. He's sowed too many ill-feelings that can't be undone. Given the brilliant writing team, this is not because of any villainous move on his part but solely by virtue of his going to any lengths to keep their status and name intact. This is a realistic light on family dynamics that's run by the hunger and scramble for power.Even the minor characters so far like Adhiraj's father seems to have a reason for his designs. So what to say of Pujan, or Baldev, or Narottam. Satrupa has already voiced her discontent in front of everyone when they pointed fingers at her for bringing Anami. And not surprisingly, not one member of the family could counter her. She's sacrificed her youth and love for the family's name and has become this hardened power hungry matriarch of sorts. It's decades of conditioning and trainig that makes her flinch not one eye when she orderrs petty criminals to be killed or literally even puts her nephew's life on the line. Only Vatsalya saw her soft side.
