The only show with a new storyline every week

Out of all of the YRF shows, Rishta.com is the only show that has a fresh storyline every week.....a new case every week....is that what makes it difficult to promote in a way?? There are smaller continuing storylines like say the Huzeifa-Sureena track currently, Isha's dad-Naina...but generally there is a freshness to each episode.....Personally this is one of the reasons I really love the show but I'm wondering if that is what is acting as a roadblock to getting more viewers as well?? :S....Do ppl get pulled in more when they have more of a continuing storyline to tune in to week after week?? Like in Mahi way, they have the entire Mahi-Ishan-Shiv issue along with her issues with her family etc. etc., Powder has the continuing storyline of the Usman/Ansari conflict and the whole drug wars storyline....Seven also has one basic storyline that it builds on week after week......Rishta.com is the only show out of these that is more episodic with each episode having an individual storyline for the most part.

Completely agree with you. I feel Rishta.Com is somewhat of indianized F.R.I.E.N.D.S. in the good way!! It is different from the traditional soaps that have being airing for a very long time. Rishta's very new an innovative concept should draw more viewers. Probably because of it's more youth centric audience as opposed to the family sagas? I was shocked to see such low TAM ratings!!

That is what I LOVE about this show, it has the continuous storyline of like Isha's dad and all, but then every week they have the new client and so it adds a new perspective to the whole show again. What I really like is the way the client always helps one of the main four characters to see something in a new way. They're always learning something through the different people

It really depends on how good the script is and how well they put it. I think Rishta.com works cuz it has both the ongoing base line and the new stories as well.
I don't have a preference for a type of story line.. as long as the show is good and loyal to its initial starting episodes (not bhatkofying from the main story like every serial on this planet) I am content.

It's the sitcom format, new storyline every week, while the basic blocks build on each other. The show isn't plot driven, but situation driven, and I think it provides more scope for exploration, which would be otherwise limited by a plot. In R.com especially, I really like how each character has their own little story going on every episode. Get to see different facets of each character.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Hum Paanch was also a sitcom, and worked similarly, yet it was a hit with the audience. This format really shouldn't hamper the show, and I wonder if it does *shrug* :S

That's a good parallel, Ritwika...although FRIENDS is iconic and nothing can match it but Rishta.com really is an innovative concept for Indian TV especially.....there is an audience for this show too I think but I think over the years ppl have become too used to daily shows with continuing storylines.....even some youth centric shows on air currently are all dailies....Rishta.com is actually a show for the youth in the true sense yet the fact that it's a weekly puts it in an even more unique bracket....the low TAM ratings are actually not being helped by the pathetic timings for this show as well

@Meera: That's what I totally love about it too yaar.....and I do hope that it ultimately attracts more of an audience....I was reading some random reviews of Rishta.com online and some of the points got me thinking.....one of them being that the show doesn't have a continuing storyline :S

@Adi rox: Yes, I too would love it if a show stayed true to what it starts out as....hardly any show on TV seems to manage that....so far Rishta.com has...and it's getting better week by week :-)

Ditto....I really like that about the show too cuz each situation they show in the various epis helps us to see a different side to the characters each time....👏

hey anu..nice thought..
that could be the reason for the show not doing well, but i find it pretty weird. The storyline keeps changing, doesn't mean that the show is not interesting!..
whoever has watched this show, has always told good things about it, as far as i know. i don't think people really have a problem with it.
Last time, it was given the timing of Sunday, when people normally go out n stuff..
the timings now are just unbearable!
overall, i feel the timings are the culprits for the show not doing well..

I agree, Aish.....the timings are the major culprits *sigh*....Feels like there is no hope of them ever fixing that....I actually liked the Sunday timings....wish they'd bring those back.
