The soft morning rays of the sun crept into the room, playing peek-a-boo with the curtains of Ananya's room. Being an early riser, Kabir was the first to wake up. Memories of last night flooded back to him as he saw Ananya sleeping close to him, in the same position. She hadn't even woken once in the night. "She must be tired," he said to himself. But seeing Ananya the first thing in the morning had surely made his day.

How wonderful it would be if I saw her like this every day, a small voice inside him said dreamily... WHAT THE HELL?!?! Where did this come from?? Kabir thought to himself with a shocked expression. She was his friend, for God's sake!

Shaking his head vigorously and rubbing his eyes, he got up from the bed carefully, making sure he didn't wake Ananya up. His felt his phone vibrating in his jeans pocket. He went outside the room and answered it. He was asked to report in the Operation Theatre within 2 hours because he had a surgery lined up at 9 am. He went to his cabin, collected his belongings and headed to his apartment to freshen up, not before leaving a note beside Ananya's bed.

She woke up an hour later. She yawned and stretched her arms as her body had stiffened. She was feeling tired but felt light at heart after crying last night. She felt as if those tears washed away her pain. And crying in Kabir's arms, well, that was a cherry on top! 😳

She noticed a note with Kabir's hand writing on it lying beside her. She picked it up. It read:

Good morning Sleepyhead!

I hope you had a peaceful night. Listen, I had to rush down for an emergency and I thought not to wake you up, considering the fact that you were hell tired after crying so much last night. Anyway, take your meds and remind Richa about your injection which is due today. I am 100% sure she has forgotten. I won't be free till noon. I will come to check on you in the evening. I have some work at Anahita today. Will see you soon.

Till then, rest. Take care.

She didn't know why, but she was feeling happy that someone was taking so much care of her. He was doctor and it was his moral duty to look after his patients, her mind told her. But there was something else which made her feel all giddy. She liked this new feeling. Even though her heart was weak, this feeling was enough to last her heart a thousand years; so pure that sense of care was.

Richa peeked her head in to see whether Ananya was awake. Ananya quickly hid the note under the pillow, as if it was a love letter. She didn't get why she did it. She was behaving like a teenager! She gave a weird look to herself, before greeting Richa.

"Uh... Good morning Ri!! How come you are early today?" Ananya asked. "Why? Can't I come to see my sister at the hospital?" She gave a naughty grin. "Of course you can! Come, sit." Ananya pointed at the seat where Kabir was initially seated last night.

She blushed. Well she was blushing a lot these days!

"Wait, first have your medicines... Till then let me get you some breakfast. Go and freshen up. Otherwise Kabir sir will kill me if he comes to know you missed the morning meds!" Richa said and laughed. She helped Ananya out of the bed and went to get the breakfast.

Ananya didn't feel like lying on her bed all day long and hence she insisted that she has her breakfast on the couch. Richa sat beside her and got talking. After a long session of girly talks, topped with giggles and gossips Richa was about to leave when Ananya reminded her of the injection. Richa slapped her forehead and hurriedly left, cursing herself and Ananya smiled at her antics.

P.S. I know bahot chhota ho gaya... lekin aaj ka dose itna hi hai. One more thing, my school starts from Monday, so I won't be able to update very regularly...
