PART 13:
"Ananya sunn tu na faltu mein unse pange mat le. Ja jakar unse baat kar le" suggests Richa, resting her hand on Ananya's shoulder. "Han yaar ja jakar dekh kya keh rahe hain" follows Trisha. Staring at Kabeer, in his cabin, from her desk through the glass door, Ananya wonders what has set his mood off! "Theek hai yaar main abhi aati hun" saying this she moves towards Kabeer's cabin.
Knocking the glass door, she asks for permission to get in. "May I come in Sir?" "Yes Miss Kashyap please come in" says Kabeer, working out something important in his file. Without uttering a word, she gets in and stands behind the seat, placed in front of her. She chooses to remain quiet and waits for him to look at her. "Sit down Miss Kashyap" says Kabeer, without looking at her, still busy with his work. As Ananya sits without any argument, Kabeer sighs, feeling relaxed because he is not in a mood to argue with her right now.
"Kaunsi story follow kar rahiin hain aap?" he asks, his tone serious. "Mohan Brijesh ka" she says confidently."Kya aap janti hain ki kon hai ye?" "Ji ye chotey bachon ko kidnap karta hai. Kayi bachein iske kabze mein hain. Iske upar rape cases bhi hai kayi." "Right aur yeh sub jaane ke baad bhi aap iss case ko solve karna chahti hain?""Yes Sir what's the big deal?" Closing his eyes and turning his right hand into a fist, he takes a deep breath."Aap ye case nahi kar rahin" says Kabeer casually."What? Excuse me! Kyu?" "Kyunki aap new reporter hain aur main aapko khona nahi chahta". Listening to Kabeer's words Ananya feels that the whole world has stopped. "Aap mujhe khona nahi chahte? Matlab?" she whispers, looking at him. Regretting having said that aloud, Kabeer clears his mind before wording his thoughts "Mera matlab agar apko kuch ho gaya to mujhe KKN mein jawab dena hoga. Kyunki junior reporter hone ke natey aap meri zimmedari hain". "Main koi bachhi nahi hoon! Aur ye profession choose karne se pehle mujhe pata tha ki main aise situations face karne wali hoon. So please I don't need your help". As she completes her line out of frustration, she realizes she shouldn't have said this line, but it was too late. Looking at his eyes she realizes, she has hurt him. But of course she fails to understand how could a line from an immature junior reporter can hurt the Editor-in-Chief of KKN! "Kya main ja sakti hoon?" "Mujhse kyun puch rahin hain aap, jab sarey faisle le hi chuki hain aap, to ye bhi le li jiye". Without giving her chance to reply, he gets up and leaves his cabin.
