Ananya was in a daze as she got back home.
She replayed all that had happened in the last 2 hours. She had gone to office to meet Trisha and had found Kabir instead. He had professed his love for her and they had shared an earth shattering kiss.
She kicked off her shoes and settled on the bed. Did this all really happen or did she just dream? Was she so lucky that the man she love reciprocated her feelings?
She had to be certain that she had not dreamt all that! She picked up her phone and messaged Kabir
That happened ,right?'
She quickly got a reply from him.
You will have to be more specific. In that conclave right now. Lets talk later'
Ok! So that had happened. She grinned and smiled. She quickly got off the bed and changed.
But then a thought hit her? Was she still employed with KKN? She had served her notice period of 24 hours yesterday. Was she even allowed to go to KKN as an employee? She could go to KKN as Kabir's girl friend but could she go as an employee?
Pertinent question was would Malvika and Khalid let her return? She would talk to Kabir first thing tomorrow. Right now she wanted to live in the bubble of being loved and cherished by Kabir Sharma.
She reached KKN at 9am the next day and entered Kabir's cabin.
He looked up and smiled at her expecting her to be in early.
Not bad Ananya. Had I known telling you that I love you would make you punctual I would have done this months ago'- he smiled at her.
She could not help but smile. The feeling that Kabir loved loved her had not sunk in.
Kabir, incase you have forgotten I am no longer employed with KKN. I served out my notice period yesterday'- she told him quickly.
That needs to be addressed. Ill have a word with Khalid and we wil see what we can do'- he told her
What do you mean we will see what we can do? I cant leave this office now.' - she told him annoyed
Ananya yeh toh resign karne se phele sochna chahye tha. Agar kuch nahn hua toh thoda long distance chala leinge. Distance makes heart grow fonder'- he teased her
Bhaad mein gaya fonder. Im not leaving you here with Malvika'- she crossed her arms showing her steely determination.
For the time being go back to your desk and work on some story. Ill work something out.' - he told her
She nodded at him and went back to her desk. All her friends were ecstatic to see her there.
Ananya, thank god tere ko akal aa gayi'- Richa told her as she engulfed her in a hug
Lagta hai Kabir Sir ne tere ko mana hi liya. Details baad mein dena'- Trisha winked at her
She then heard Malvika's voice thundering in the office.
Ananya ex employees are not allowed to visit. Rather reporters from a competition channel are not allowed in the office'- she said as she strode down the stairs.
Ananya braced herself for a long lecture when Kabir strode out of his cabin.
Why so much commotion outside ? what is happening here?' - he asked very well aware of what was happening
Kabir , look we have a reporter from another channel in the office premises. This is against the ethics'- Malvika spoke in smooth velvety drawl.
Kabir smiled at Malvika and spoke - Malvika, I never signed Ananya's resignation letter and if I'm not mistaken she didn't respond to the head hunter via email either. Phone conversations do not really translate into a contract. So it is safe to assume she is still employed with KKN'
Malvika could not believe that she had overlooked such an important detail but she was Malvika and she would not go down with a fight.
Kabir but remember how you told me last night that you want to see her gone. After all she has lost her value as a reporter' - She told Kabir gently placing her hand on his arm.
How this woman had played her thought Ananya. Ananya was miffed with herself that she had allowed Malvika to get under her skin and caused all the trouble that she did.
Malvika I don't think I need to prove my worth as a reporter to you.' - Ananya told her as she took notice of Kabir freeing his arm from Malvika's grip.
How dare you! You are forgetting who I am - snarled Malvika
Absolutely not Malvika. How can we forget who you are? You repeat it umpteen number of times in a day that your dad owns this channel. Regarding my decision of staying or leaving it is upto Kabir. He is the editor in chief and I report to him and him alone.' - Ananya replied icily.
She stays!' - Kabir said with authority and finality in his voice.
Kabir you are choosing her over me? How dare you! I will not have her in the channel. She is inconsequential to me' - Malvika announced throwing daggers at Ananya.
Watch it Malvika. I will not have you abusing Ananya. Ananya, would you mind sharing the head hunters details with me? May be some channel would be ready to take me in as a senior journalist too" - he winked at Ananya and headed back to his cabin.
The entire office including Ananya was shocked to see the scene unfold in front of them. If anyone had any doubts regarding Kabir and Ananya, they were all dispelled.
He strode out a moment later with his bag and told Ananya- Chalein?'
Ananya stared at him shocked. He was risking his career, his reputation for her. How could she have ever doubted that he didn't love her?
She hurriedly put things in her bag and nodded at him.
Ananya kisi channel pe kaam karna hai ki apna hi channel khol lein?' - He asked her as she collected her things. Her insides were churning and he was calm as a cucumber.
I like the idea of owning a channel' - he mumbled to himself.
Malvika couldn't believe what was unfolding infornt of her.
Kabir tum KKN chod rahe ho? Who bhi ek junior reporter ke liye' - She asked him baffled and hurt
Chod nahn raha , chod diya. I quit around three minutes back Malvika. Don't worry about my replacement. Manav is more than capable of handling. Would you like to break the news to Khalid or should I do the honours?'- He asked her calmly.
Tum hi bata dena.'- he told her shell shocked face as he went out of the office with Ananya.
As soon as they were out of the office, Ananya stopped him
Aapka dimag kharab hai kya? How could you just quit like that? Mere pass toh naukri hai aap toh aise hi aa gaye'
Tumhara kehne ka matlab hai ki mujhe koi naukri nahn dega? I think Panditji toh waaps naukri pe rakh hi leinge'- he said as he opened the car for both of them to get in.
Hum jaa kahan raehin hai?'- she asked him
Humari coffee ki kahani abhi bhi adhuri hai'- he told her and headed for his home
Aap aise kaise quit kar sakte ho. This is not done. You have worked so hard to be where you are and now this. Turn the car. I will apologise to Malvika . You have to get back to KKN as editor in chief'- She urged him
Relax Ananya! Tumhe kya lagta hai Khalid mere ko jaane dega? Hum dono ka welcome phoolon se hoga'- he tried to calm her
His phone started ringing and Ananya lookd at the screen that flashed Khalid Calling'
She smiled and thought to herself Kabir kabhi galat ho hi nahn sakte. Kabir cut his call leaving Ananya shocked.
Why did you disconnect? Khalid sir was calling you?'- Ananya asked him baffled as he drove into the parking lot of his building.
I suddenly find the idea of owning a channel very appealing. Discuss karte hain coffee pe'- He winked at her as they headed for the lift.
Life with Kabir was always in the fifth gear! Khalid could wait!
