his pain is for not able to help her. not able to give her what she wanted all these years form him.

as a friend she asked that first from him. but he couldn't fulfil.

emotionally he is shattered. he is trying to move forward with heavy heart. he can't. he needs support. he needs a person who can guide him through his emotional weakness.

Like he helped Ananya, now it her time to support him through his emotional weakness.

You rightly said - The people who are honest to the core are the most sensitive. KS is just another character who as you say "doesn't give a damn" but as far as Ananya is concerned - I find him a helpless person who loves Ananya but is not sure about the type of love. This love is a typical male love and is totally different and hope CVs understand this love and maintain in that way only. This sort of love is generally not felt by female (no offence intended to any female).

--u mean the type who wudnt show but wud actually care deeply in thr heart? More so protective love thn possessive love? Well, I believed KS was more of a passionate character and expected same passionate love story from this pair !

The meeting of Ananya will not keep him away from the bottle but as Geetha wrote above, could be his waterloo unless CVs spoil the whole track and the character of KS as I could understand KS in last 43 episodes. ( In the very first episode KS gave a glimpse of that)

In case CVs try to show a normal love chemistry of a boy girl - KS is not for that.
