It did seem so..my mom was like..."is there any other channel on TV?" because during that time I was so hooked on to Star One, watching Hotel Kingston, Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, Special squad and of course REMIX that I had my mom literally driven crazy.😆😉 So sometimes, it felt like a never-ending show😆 And then she was like you should also watch it, you'll love it...based on student life in India. How very true.😳
I don't remember my first reaction to any of the characters, but I am sure Tia's character would have made a soft spot first for me, considering I was sort-of like Tia (you know barbies and princesses), except not much into make-up...and very much innocent and naive to some extent like her. But I know that slowly and gradually, Ashi-Yuvi just stole my heart and how?☺️ I remember asking my cousin how popular remix was in India (since I wasn't on IF that time) and she was like VERY popular and she was like I am sure your fav. character is Tia😆 And I was like nooo it's Ashi and Yuvi☺️ So yaa...and now more than Tia, I relate more to Ashi...not because I am like Ashi but because of who Ashi is! 😆 my reactions were mostly of shock...and surprise!😲. I couldn't really understand why would any one for that matter must talk the way Tia did😆, I totally took 15 mins to understand who Tia really was!!! And Ashi..was baapre...never ever had I seen anyone like Ashi in my entire freaking 17 yrs (at that time) of life. I will never know how I fell in love with Ashi/Yuvi..but i guess initially I started warming up to Yuvi because Ashi was gradually warming up to him 😳.
And I watched this first episode like an year after Remix ended...so I already had my biased placed while watching the first episode...but what was most interesting to watch was to see the first episode and see some later episodes of Remix, let's just say rock concert episode...and there was SO MUCH of growth...as characters and actors. It was almost like they were unrecognizable, you know? Absolutely true...I remember back in those days, there had been some kind of problem between Star Network and the Cable TV distributors in Calcutta here, as a result, all the cable operators had shut down the Star Network. Hence, even Star One was not shown for quite some time. I don't remember for how long, but by the time the dispute got resolved and the Star One resumed airing it's serials, I could hardly believe that these were the same characters that I had left...especially Ashi and Yuvi there were so much of growth in them..that they were hardly recognizable.😊
I loved the first episode not because it was perfect, I mean technically speaking, it wasn't...but still it seemed a perfect start to an amazing, classic show. My ultimate favorite part of the first episode was the beginning...where the foursomes are saying:
I just love this scene as it just so beautifully introduced the theme of this show...the rebellion, the upcoming conflicts with parents, that risk to follow their heart and dreams, the mixing of two generations and its pros and cons. And I loved how they showed this voiceover over empty school...showing how these four kids and their friends really brought life to this school with their energy, passion, style and perseverance. You know?😳
Coming to introductions of the characters, my favorite has to be of Ashi and Tia. And you know what is strikingly amazing? That both these characters were rebelling against their parents in a similar way but for their own reasons. I mean Tia almost stripped danced and Ashi posed wear short clothes as well😆 It's amazing how similar yet how different Ashi and Tia were in Remix. I just loved this subtle connection between them in the first episode😳 I never paid much attention to Ashi-Tia before I started loving Mia-Roberta. I mean I lvoed their relationship but it was more about their bickering and I never saw this underlying love beneath it, which i am able to see now and I just get so happy😳 Because in Rebelde, their relationship is my favorite...more than Roberta-Diego/Mia-Miguel...and I am so glad to be able to feel their Remix counterpart🤗
Aww ...that's really sweet, u know what I did watch a couple of episodes of both Rebelde and Rebelde Way on YT. But it's difficult to understand without the English Subtitles. I can only understand through their actions and reactions and then counter actions. But back in 2004-05 I had no idea that REMIX had been inspired from the Argentinian/Mexican Show ( wasn't on IF )
