The trailer of Modi - The Journey of a Common Man is out. The Eros Now web series is based on PM Narendra Modi's life. The series chronicles the life of Narendra Modi from childhood to youth and will conclude with him taking oath as the Prime Minister of India.
Eros Now's Modi shows the incredible journey of PM Modi from poverty to power and how a chaiwala went on to become the prime minister of the largest democratic nation.
The 3.16 minutes trailer starts with Ashish Sharma saying 'Rashtra se badhkar koi ishwar nahi, azaadi se badhkar koi dharma nahi, prajatantra se badhkar koi puja nahi.' It features Faisal Khan as the teenage Modi who is seen selling tea at Vadnagar station. The teenage Modi is seen serving cows, collecting welfare funds and playing Kabaddi. On the other hand the young Modi played by Ashish Sharma seems to be more of a nomad in saffron clothes, leading a life of a hermit. But the Emergency period leaves a great impact on his mind. He is seen being chased by the police and even being beaten by them. The series also focuses on what lead Narendra Modi to join politics.
He was loved, respected and accused, says the trailer. Apart from the atrocities during the Emergency period, the trailer also feature Godhra incident where Modi says killers have no religion and asks not to divide the dead into Hindu and Muslims.
The web series has been written by writer and Censor Board member Mihir Bhuta and Radhika Anand. The series has been directed by Umesh Shukla of Oh My God fame. It has been shot in rural Gujarat, Siddhpur and Vadnagar, the real locations where Modi grew up. Veteran actor Mahesh Thakur depicts Modi's journey after his appointment as Gujarat CM. Whereas Ashish Sharma will play a younger version of Modi. A poem penned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been used in the series.
2019 has been a year of interesting political biopics. After 'Accidental Prime Minister' and 'Thackeray', Eros Now and Benchmark Pictures have now collaborated to produce a 10-part biopic web series on the life of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Titled 'Modi', the project is being helmed by filmmaker Umesh Shukla, who has previously directed critically acclaimed ventures like 'Oh My God' and '102 Not Out'. It is all set to premiere on Eros Now in April.
On Tuesday, March 26, makers unveiled the trailer of the upcoming biopic web-series 'Modi' and it looks promising from the very first visuals. It follows the journey of PM Modi from his humble beginnings to his years as Chief Minister onto his landmark win at the 2014 election and finally being nominated as the Prime Minister of India. It covers all the highs and lows of the life of the country chief. As the trailer shows, the series will feature the Indian Prime Minister's life in 3 phases. While actor Mahesh Thakur will portray the current PM, Ashish Sharma will represent him in his youth and Faizal Khan will bring on screen his boyhood days.
Right from the days of him selling tea in his boyhood to finally joining getting into active politics, the trailer explores intriguing details of the life of the Indian Prime Minister. With a change of roles, age and appearance, the one thing which appears to be constant is his love for the country.
Sharing the trailer on Twitter, Eros Now announced, "The journey of this common man will truly inspire you! Here's presenting the official trailer of #ErosNowOriginal series, #Modi."
Meanwhile, netizens seem to be very much impressed by the gripping trailer as they have praised the upcoming venture widely on social media. They have especially hailed actor Ashish Sharma's performance in the 'Modi' web-series.

Girls just watched the trailer. Ashish voice what has he done. He has perfected the slang of Modi. Oh God he has perfected the slang. I knew its Ashish voice when the trailer started but it feels as if NM standing and giving his speech. Uff Ashish should have done the older part too yaar. The person doing older version has no power, his voice carry no power while Ashish gives the bass the volume of what NM is. I dont know how else to explain it, but i am bowled. If there is perfection, this is it. π. The guy who has perfected Ram has perfected NM too.
