Hello!
Long time no see. It's no secret that I find alternative shipping opportunities and parallel story lines in Rangrasiya exciting. At least twenty other people more talented than I post lyrical praises of Rudra and Paro and dissect their relationship through new and meaningful metaphors. I have truly enjoyed reading many of them.

But...I ask you, what of the OTHER ships? The ones that COULD have been?

So I'm dedicating a couple of posts to those neglected jodis. Feel free to join in and tell me your own slew of could-have-been's! 😆

The first post of this series is for Laila and her Mr Right.

I like Laila, okay. Not the caricature she is now, but the potential she had as a character-- a grey, flawed, passionate, REAL woman, with both good and bad in her.

So I want a happy ending for Laila. A Mr Right for her.
(Don't burst my bubble and tell me it's not possible! If Rudra's arm can be fixed as miraculously as it was paralyzed, ANYTHING is possible.)

I don't really want to ship her with any of the existing men on the show.

So, my question to you is, what sort of a man could Laila fall in love with who would be capable of returning that love?

A gentle, kind, upright man who would recognize her potential to love and return it? A man who knows how to forgive and is compassionate? One who would not force her to do anything, but make her WANT to come to him, seek his love and companionship in a cruel world?

OR

A rogue like her own self? A like-minded, charming, silver-tongued man who is no fool. One who would not try to tame her free spirit or feel threatened by her sass and strength? On who would let her soar and be secure in the knowledge that she would come back to him? One who knows just how harsh the world can be to women like Laila, and wouldn't judge her or pity her, but admire and appreciate the consummate survivor that she is?

OR someone else altogether? A starry-eyed, innocent idealist from the city? A firang photographer? A woman? You tell me! 😆
I'd love to hear your thoughts!

P.S. I work full-time now and have very little time to spend on IF, so I won't be able to respond to everyone here. I will definitely drop by periodically to read what you have to say, though.
Cheers!

Laila needs a person who is her polar opposite. This is how love stories work. The characters have to be polar opposites and one has to be the executioner and other has to be the executed.

Laila is considered a fallen woman, a woman in flesh trade who spent the last eight years of her life as the mistress of a man. Even though society does not sanction this relationship, Laila is flaunted her "jawani" for this man.

She will only be happy with a man who has never in his life had a single broken relationship - he must be a virgin. A male equivalent of Paro. Like it has become paro's job to heal Major sa, it should be this guys job to heal Laila. She needs healing, and big time. She brings devastation and pain to everyone around her, so this man has to be a social worker who wants to do good for the society and believes that he must change the life of at least one woman.

Headstands in rain are an added plus. 😛

What a brilliant topic, Semanti. I really like this idea.

Coming to Laila, we can see that she herself has already admitted to being a sherni. Because she is a sherni, she will need someone- as SJ Baisa pointed out- someone who she can teach who will be the gazelle to her sherni. Therefore, I do not thing "Tiger" would be an appropriate choice for a mate.

Laila's perfect man has to be a gazelle. He needs to remind this broken, glass hearted woman that she is his only sherni, and that while others may mind if she eats them, he doesn't mind if she eats him. As long as she doesn't use teeth, because those are painful.

Then, her gazelle will have to leap his way into her heart and gently remove all the glass shards from her broken skin, covering the gushing blood and turning it into a river of love. Then, as they dance in the river of love, they can find peace, and Laila will truly grow into her role as a sherni.

She will only fall for someone who is innocent, who comes through the savannah and searches through the tall grass to find her. He must break her with his innocence and kindness, and build her all back up again into a true sherni, the Queen of the jungle.

That is a man Laila can live with.

Laila needs someone who will understand her... he need not be innocent & pure or Rogue... but someone who knows the person she is and accepts it but still loves her for the person she is.

They need to have something in common for them to relate... else with Laila being Laila can't connect with the fact that they are different from each other and can be together... ofcourse he should make her believe that she also understands him... she needs to be LOVED and cared for.

I have candidates from every category you've mentioned.

Daanveer is that gentle soft-hearted man on the show who, even after having fathered two sher sons, gives me the virgin-vibes. And age is just a number after all. His previous experience with Mohini should be an added plus in the CV, as should be the BSD uniform, which, while not as tight as Rudra's, is still new from never having seen any action. Maybe the fiery Laila could tear off some buttons??😉

Second category, Tejawat. Moonch. Maa. Silver tongue spewing sarcasm. I was rather hoping he would turn out to be Rudra's true father but...oh well, Teila hi sahi.

The third category is by far my most favourite. My imagination is running away here. City-boy. Idealist, clean-cut, anthithesis to the all the beautiful foliage the prickly Major saab sports so sexily. Hmm. This one is perfect, imo. BinaShirt Moonchiyaa to miltaa nahin. At least this one comes with a guarantee.

"We've let the blade of our innocence dull over time, and it's only in innocence that you find any kind of magic, any kind of courage." - Sean Penn

Laila needs someone who will be the perfect foil to her. Someone so pristine, so innocent, so pure, that no malice can touch him. His innocence will be so overbearing that it will look almost annoyingly idiotic to us.

He will be as sacred as Ganga maa, who washes away everyone's sin but doesn't let any sin touch him. He will be gullible, he won't know how to play mind games. He will be blindly trusting, he will worship Laila, his whole life will be dedicated to her, she alone will be able to make him feel vindicated. She will be his sun, and he her planet. He will crack deals with God for her betterment.

Like I said, the complete opposite of Laila. Untainted, untouched, innocence pouring out of every orifice.

With all that said and done, he better not be Aman.

Oh poor Laila has someone to crusade for her.. I agree with you, Laila was a character with enormous potential with all the shades of her character instead of the all black evil woman they've made her. In spite of all they have done I refuse to accept her as an entirely bad person. Although there are no chances of her character getting any justice in the show (and with the actor portraying her I'm not really sure I even want that), this is a really interesting question.

While its quite clear a person like Rudra would not be right for her, its a little difficult to imagine who would be right. One thing I feel pretty sure is it has to someone who is completely confident about himself and would not in any way feel threatened by her. She obsesses about Rudra because she is attracted to the mask that Rudra wears to cover his real emotions and vulnerabilities. Like it or not, Rudra is a very insecure person thanks to his background and such a person can never handle a woman like Laila.

So, coming back to the point he has to be secure enough to not curtail her independent nature but at the same time maintain a subtle degree of control over her darker side. When angered she can be a formidable opponent and can go mad with rage, as she did during Paro's haldi. Its that aspect which this man will have to remember.

Option #1- A gentle kind upright man would either be cowed by her or just run off scared. Basically any softie without a strong will would just end up being ruled by her and that isn't what a relationship is about..

Option #2- A rogue like her own self? A like-minded, charming, silver-tongued man who is no fool. One who would not try to tame her free spirit or feel threatened by her sass and strength? On who would let her soar and be secure in the knowledge that she would come back to him? One who knows just how harsh the world can be to women like Laila, and wouldn't judge her or pity her, but admire and appreciate the consummate survivor that she is?

This is what I think would be the closest to her perfect man. He has to be a bit loose in the morals and not too stiff necked, to go along with her where its alright to. It requires immense self confidence in a man not to be threatened by a woman who is completely capable of doing everything herself and surviving the worst. He need not be a complete thug just flexible enough..

Ok this probably rather prejudiced of me, but I really wonder if such men do exist??

Other options- The possibility of a woman seems intrigiung..😃

👏

He will be the one to wean him off her 'jalee huyee aloo ki sabzi' diet.
He will put kaala teeka on her to save her from the buri nazar of the cruel world.
He will do the doodh-daaru competetion with her on their suhaag-raat. Extra points for holding her hair while she pukes later.
He will as innocent and helpless as a white dove. Laila's motto in life will become "Constant Vigil". But it will evoke her protective side and she will smell it when he is in trouble, which is always.
He will be jealous of her rangeen past. But again, His Innocence doesn't do jealousy. So basically he'll be confused and unsure of what to believe. Poor deer.

Laila called Aman 'bhai'. I felt simultaneously happy and sad for him. This confusion is infectious.
