!I used to watch a show sometime back, R.com, it was a fairly decent and a well made show set in an urban setting. From what I read online, it had absymal ratings and even though they had initially promised to come back with a season 2, they never did. If I remember correctly it was a weekly series, and lasted for about six months...or more. I can't remember the exact details...in terms of setting and the characterizations of the main leads, RR is completely the opposite to what it was...a complete contrast...it seems you just can't predict what works with the TRP audience. I can't imagine being a writer writing for these shows... You start off with all kinds of ideas and creativity...and then the TRP curse strikes and you are forced to dumb it down to a pumpkin roll, it must all be terribly frustrating, no doubt.

I can handle dark shows but tear Jerkers ...hai bhagwan please NO . Remember working back stage for a parody on Othello at college ...If RR goes that route we sure are in for a fun ride. Sush , tu apne dimaag pe itna zoor muth dal yaar it won't be a tear jerker for sure ...
!
wow I was a big fan of R.com and Mahiway both the serials from Yashraj production! Both were great shows but they catered mainly to urban young to middleage audience. and becos of low TRPs YRF didnt come out with season 2! đ
But before RR, IPK is the only show that I followed on regular basis. During R.com amd Mahiway I was not aware of IF!

Sorry to butt in...was reading some of the comments here.
Did not want to mention this on the TRP thread. Reasons why RR did not have a reasonably good start.
Our MASS audiences are just not ready for characters they cannot relate to. More so daily soap characters who become another household member. Someone you would talk about with your neighbour, at the bazaar, or sat sang, or outside the church.
I know this is nothing to do with TV, but Kangana in a recent interview summed it up perfectly.
With Revolver Rani, I didn't think like that. It's an outrageous film, and you can't relate to this character. It's a completely dark character, and the film is darker than that. But I think they might just like this too.
DT: You had also said that no one is going to marry you after they watch the film? Do you really feel that way?
Kangana: See, I myself am not very keen on getting married and that's why I do characters like these (laughs), and also, I was asked if I would like to get married at the Taj Mahal and that's where this came from. But I do believe that our country is not as evolved as the audience in the West. There is a lot of vyakti pooja in this country. And they really think you're that character. After Queen, girls used to come and hug me, and I was like, 'No, you can't touch me like that', and they would be like, 'No, but we love you', and I was like so what! So, you can't be like Anthony Hopkins and play a baby meat eater and still be loved for that, for doing those courageous roles or like Nicholas Cage, be a real baddie and be loved. I do understand that and I really don't care. It's all right.
Makes sense to me at least.
