Rudra is a conflicted personality. A good man at heart, he has retained the values and morals inbred in him at a very young age by his mother. But then, that's about all. His later environment, his father, the world around him, forced him to be harsh and ruthless. He is a man at odds with himself. A highly sensitive individual, it takes a toll on him every time he does something wrong. He is a man with a conscience, although he hates to admit it.Originally posted by: prettypri
Such a fine analysis of Rudra's character!
He is basically a study in contrasts...what he projects to the world is a rough exterior and gruffness that serve to keep people away from him and also hide the vulnerable person inside.
But he is capable of strong feelings..like the ones he has for BSD and the more negative ones he has for his mother..!
He thinks of himself as a JALLAD but Paro will discover slowly that he is not just a JALLAD...hopefully the journey doesn't involve her getting too hurt..only when their relationship gets on a normal keel I.e not this captor captive will we be able to see that!
For all that he is rude and stubborn he has been good to Paro indicating that his childhood and the bitter truth that his mother abandoned him has not completely destroyed him...there is a spark of good left which when stoked can still redeem him. But to convince him of that will take some doing!
Yup..the first one was miniscule, too fine, too subtle. Both were pieces of wonderful performances. Haha...I have given up on Mausam, she is the necessary evil, love her, hate her, you just can't ignore her 😃OK, so I kinda missed the first pause the first time . And I ahd to rewatch it to see it. But the second one. WOW. Alas, Mausam Aunty had to bigaadofy the mausam.
@ Maithli- you nincompoop, you ... Why did you have to show her the pic? Why couldn't you be a little nosy and see it for yourself first?
It feels like such a waste...a waste of emotions, a waste of dreams..heck a total wasteland of a life when we look at Rudra today. He has nothing, really nothing left to give or to take. And we know its a herculean task to make him whole again, but our Paro Bai Sa is strong enough to do it...hopefully...Beautiful Evie, you hardly leave space to add much else.
Those two moments were stark. The first pause is gruesome! It's crushing to watch someone who will lay down his life in a heartbeat for his country, for those whom he feels are worthy of loyalty... is so empty and beaten on the inside. He doesn't feel he can invest a single human emotion into another human being. What a heart breaking tragedy...& Paro is in for a lot of trials.
I loved that moment she came down the stairs & he didn't look, until the mirror reflection forced him to turn his gaze her way. That softening of his eyes, features, expression, then taking in her overall look. That was a beautiful moment indeed. And Paro despite her conscience prickling, giving in to her destiny.
I like the way the writers have weaved Shiv Parvati relation in to their story & the Othello side of Rudra, means there will be hope for him. From what I saw on Mahadev, Sati and Parvati underwent a lot of tests and trials to gain him.
🤗..Sajni you are not the only one. From the day I heard this was based on Othello, I have been fighting a sinking feeling. I comforted myself saying, that's what these telly shows say, just to add a touch of extra something to the promos, but the intense and dark shades of the show have only increased my fears.Originally posted by: sajni786
"The Major knows that marrying him is a fate worse than death for any woman. Time and again, we face these subtle, these very superfine hints about how Rudra estimates himself. Repeatedly we see, how low his self esteem is. He might be a rock to reckon with in the outside world, but this man definitely does not think much of himself on the insides. And when it comes to Paro, he feels he is just not worthy of her and never will be. The seeds of the classic Othello, are being sown, the strands of his insecurities, his lack of belief in himself woven intricately in the plot. His mother abandoned him, a child, for another man, his father never found him worthy of his love, and his life has left him totally bereft of confidence. And he himself mentions the fact, when he confesses that he is nothing without his uniform. He only feels confident, alive, when he has that covering his body and soul. With his every self devaluating dialogue, with his every self depreciating shrug, the fear for the future, rises in me."
Amen! And along with that I let go yet another droplet of courage to see through this show...What you have said above so very well sketches out the heart crunching...gut wrenching future of PaRud...As is real life is such a mess...we all go through so much in our daily lives and to witness more tragic on screen is so much heart breaking only coz we tend to take these entertainments as therapies to get away...to divert our minds from reality just so for those moments we can reinstall the faith in goodness...dream of happy moments and make believe ourselves thats life is not all that bad afterall...BUT when these very remedies slap back cruelity at your face...when it shows you a picture so close to reality...the realization of life and its journey sinks right through piercing your within!I honestly dunno if I will want to watch PaRud journey right thru if at all the ending is that of Othello...As much as such tragic stories are poignant and pristine...they just leave me with a bitter taste and I for one would want to see a happy end for PaRud!

Hi Evie,
Nice post as usual.👏
What an episode and I am going to say it was full of realizations.
1) Rudra Bana is going to marry come hail or shine. He is actually surprised when Senior Ranawat hands over his mom's jewelry. Rudra Bana even questioned his dad and he got the taste of his own medicine when Sr. Ranawat said that he is doing what he wants. For once, he knew how to handle his son.😆
2) Today Senior Ranawat realized that his son is just like him except when it comes to looks. If he would come to IF he would have realized it sooner than today.😆
3) Paro Bai sa was on spot today whether to accept the jewelry or not. Well, she did and it looked beautiful on her.😊
4) I liked how they showed the last scene. SS face was not revealed till the last minute which was very well handled.👏
Very good episode and everything was in sync.
Wow...sometimes the response to your thoughts is so profound, so perfect that you end up feeling, that should have been the main piece of writing itself. Loved your response and your analysis.Originally posted by: loveanime
He is such a man, and she is such a woman and when they come together it is like when the hot and cold meet to create a tornado. Theirs is not going to be a peaceful joining of the souls. I liked what you said about Paro's love only capable of destroying him, all this time we are thinking that it is Rudra's love that will destroy her but it really is the other way around because she will be the giver in the relationship and he will be the receiver.
Rudra is the perfect character for psychoanalysis on how two parts of a soul constantly battle one another, diametrically opposed creating someone so fragile and yet strong at the same time. His two sides are just as powerful as the other but it is the balance between them that maintains his existence, but if the scale tips and when one emotion overwhelms the other the consequence is diaboloical to him and others.Given all this tragedy we all foresee in the story would they be better of without the other. Rudra could have lived rest of his life as a BSD officer just doing his job coasting through life, having what he has with Laila and he is used to living in contempt so nothing new here. Paro marrying someone similar to her and enjoying domestic bliss no upheavels to cause her any pain. So why do we want to route for a couple that might be doomed for certain death. Juliet could only love her romeo and romeo could only love his juliet. If they told them this is how it would end for them it would not matter they would still chose each other and embrace death. Rudra too desperately wants that moment in his life and even though we think he is the one in more need of love, Paro too needs Rudra more than she realizes maybe more than needs her. This couple has many themes, there is shiv sati which means they will live and have a glorious life, othello and desdemona a tragic end where love was just not enough, romeo and juliet their main enemy was their fear of losing the other they would rather die than risk being parted. The three themes, first being where love is so strong that it could not be broken. It stood the testament of time and trials, and set an example for all ages of not just what an ideal love is but what ideal life is. The second theme being love is just as fragile as its carrier, on its own it is nothing, but it is the vessel that harbors it that gives it strength, love and soul strenthen each other it is mutally exclusive but when it is not able to then all you are left with is pain. The third is a love that only wants to survive whether in life or death, death is not a punishment for them and life is not any great gift, all that it matters they are together doesn't matter where. The story could down either path but whatever the journey it will be a rollercoaster ride for all especially the audience. I won't get too sad about the destination but I hope the journey is beautiful.
U do??😛 Wow...that's a huge compliment and a huge responsibility too!! Anything to keep the negativity at bay...Originally posted by: Rupunzale
Ok. I read your posts first and then see the episode nowadays...only because I want to keep an open mind towards all the negativity. Do I have to say how beautifully you write. I actually concentrated on the pauses as you have so aptly depicted and it worked so well.
All the signs are towards the marriage happening...more so on Shiv/ratri ( I did some googling ) and the story moving towards Othello. I just hope they don't turn this too dark. All I can say is that Othello is not for everyone. It's something else to read it but seeing it play out is a whole different thing. I don't know how it will go with the trp audience...I hope they do justice to this very intriguing tale.
Right now the only thing I need to see is Kaki's dialogues toned down. The woman is giving me a serious headache. Gosh...she is in every damn scene. I am sorry she is a great actress but I can't take Seem to tolerate her voice anymore. Sorry, I have to be honest here. want to see more of the thakur / thakurain instead of her.
They both have their weaknesses and strengths. There are times when my heart bleeds for Paro and moments when Rudra has me battling on his side. And I think that's the best part of this tale. Usually we women tend to, and even the story always, sides with the female protagonist. This balance is refresingOriginally posted by: RebeccaDaphne
That was such a beautiful description of Rudra. You know, before your post I always felt sorry for Paro. I felt for her being put in that situation with not a fault of her own.
But after your post I feel sooo bad for Rudra, you made me see him in another light. I knew he was vulnerable with his abandonment issues, but your description of his low self esteem made me really pity him. My heart aches for this character...!
