I agree that the Rajasthani should be abandoned. In your example, the person doesn't stay in Rajasthan, so it makes sense that he knows to speak Hindi. But the show is set in a small village, where it is more common to speak their native language. So while it provides authenticity, it does get difficult follow the dialogues.

IMO, they should opt for more Hindi dialogues because the show is airing on a Hindi channel and is targeting the Hindi audience. Maybe they can keep a few common Rajasthani phrases every now and then.

Absolutely.
How can I appreciate a good dialogue when I don't understand it? These days people know minimal Hindi, even, and I've a feeling we can increase the audience base if the Rajasthani dialect was kept to the minimum.

I agree Sonya, though I don't want them to completely abandon it...I do want them to make it easier for the mainstream audiences to understand. I literally don't understand 70% of the dialogues on this show. That could be a problem for casual fans who won't be as patient as us and will change the channel.

If they want a more bigger fandom, they need to tone it down. I simply can't understand what these people are saying. Thank goodness for my friends online helping me understand the dialogues.

I think it will look awkward now,if they abandon the dialect.so it is better they keep them.if they shift to Delgi or something, that might be a possibility.but as of now, they are ok. I am getting a hang of it and mind you I am from the south and I find it even harder to understand than the regular hindi speaking community.

I respectfully disagree. I think the dialect has added a very novel flavor to the script. Personally I don't even speak hindi but I have been doing just fine understanding. I quite enjoyed your anecdote about the doorman, but I think he is very different from lets say Paro who has never left Birpur.
I think over time we will develop an ear for it. So I would say give it some time, I actually don't even feel it anymore.

I don't think they should stop using the Rajasthani dialect - that IS. where the story is set and using it brings forth the regional flavor as well as authenticity to story line. Besides, words used are very simple and can be understood with a little bit of concentration to the dialogues.
RR is not the first serial to be set in Rajasthan or use that dialect. There have been a number of serials with stories addressing lifestyle issues set in Bihar or UP. Nobody seems to have issues with those dialects, then why pick on this one? Or is it that the actual issue here is one of clarity in diction/ dialogue delivery?

I feel they should use simple words which every one can understand .Some find it difficult to understand Hindi. But in this show they use so pure Rajasthani words which is hard to understand.Better they use simple Rajasthani words.

I think this topic should go up for polling as the reaction looks fairly split. I would say that the show should maintain its dialect while the show is set at the border as that is one of the few unique aspects that is going for it right now.
