Written Update of the TellyChakkar Interview
Firstly, Karan wearing a white kurta and blue denim jeans welcomes us all to his house on "this auspicious day" and says "ap sab aye hein bara acha lagta hai"
Then he calls his dad infront of the camera and introduces him. He tells that its his dad's idea to celebrate this Ganpati Ji's festival at home. This is the fifth year that they are celebrating it at home.
Karan explains that: "Hum har saal Ganesh Ji ko apney ghar invite kartey hein humein apni blessings deney ke liye" and basically to serve and look after him.
The reporter asks Karan how he takes out time to prepare for this festival considering that in the TV industry the actors have to work round the clock? This year he is at home since his show isn't on air but if he's working then how does he take out time to look after Ganesh Ji?
Karan replies that he believes that whenever someone wants to celebrate these holy festivals with sincerity then one way or the other they do get time off and are able to celebrate it. Personally for him, whenever the time for Ganesh Ji's festival comes he somehow is able to be free of work obligations for those two days and look after Ganesh. About the preparation he says that everyone at home is involved in the preparations especially his mom who is always given the "honour" to look after the food! They all sit down and make a menu...and taste the food to make sure that everything is alright.
He further explains that the decorations of the moorti are his and his sister's responsibility and they start preparing it in good time. The reporters asks if he selects a special theme for the decoration every year and whether there is a special reason for why the moorti is decorated the way it is decorated this year.
Karan's sister, Sasha, comes in front of the camera and Karan introduces her. She is wearing a red shalwar kameez suit. He says that their parents give the task of decoration to both of them every year. He says that they don't specifically decide on a theme but since Sasha is really creative she gets something in her head every year and says we should do this. This year, the moorti has been selected by Sasha who visited several pandaals and then selected this one. She then called KT to come over and finally decide on one of the moortis that she liked.
The reporter asks Sasha to explain the way in which she has decorated the moorti to which she replies that she and Karan wanted to match the flowers on the moorti with the dupatta that Ganesh Ji is wearing. The dupatta is pink although amidst all the decorations one cant't see the dupatta. He narrates that she wanted to have pink and yellow flowers for the decoration but Karan wanted pink flowers instead of yellow. After contemplating a lot between pink and yellow they "finally decided on Karan's choice- pink and white flowers...but I think it looks very nice"
Karan interjects, saying: "That sounds so funny na- Karan's choice is pink and white flowers!"
*both laugh*
Karan continues: "But thats true, I like the colour pink and I like the way it looks with white so I think..I dont know its like a very good combination!" 😳
The reporter asks something about food and Karan says that that department is the sole responsibility of his mom. He moves towards the sofa where his mom is sitting and introduces her saying "Ye meri Mata Ji hein, Veena Takcer!" His mom now stands next to him. She is wearing a maroon and golden suit. Karan says that his mom has a rule "Khana nahi khao ge tou khana pait se baandh diya jae ga tou jo bhi humarey ghar aata hai ussey sari dishes khani parhti hein." He elaborates that his mom's speciality is Kheer and Dahi Bharay and all his friends love eating them. Every year those two dishes are most in demand so his mom makes a huge amount of those two dishes. He then points to the table and says thats how much food there is in the house and its half left since its so tasty that everyone loves eating it. He says "Hum sab subha se..in fact do din se itna khana kha chukay hein ke its just been crazy. Mom would you like to say something?"
His mom says that since she is a Punjabi she loves eating poori but Karan is a samosa eater. Sasha likes non-oily things. Every one in the house tells her what they want to eat and when she is cooking she has to keep everyones choices in mind but she still tries to get things done her way. She always makes Dahi Bhara.
The reporter asks if Karan helps with the food and Karan says "haan mom banati hein mein khata houn. Bohat mehnat karta houn!" His mom tells that yes Karan eats a lot. Just yesterday he had 8 samosas. Karan chips in "Haan araam se. Im scared its going to start showing on my face soon!" His mom says that Karan's dad had lots of Channay. Whenever she saw him he was tolding a bowl of channa and eating with everybody.
Karan says" I wish all you guys could come and taste the food its YUMMY!"
The reporter asks Karan if he would like to share a memory with his fans since he has been celebrating this festival for the past 5 years. Karan says that this year it is very special for him since luckily he has both the days off and even his dad, who keeps travelling alot, is home. The whole family has spent the full 2 days together celebrating the festival which is hard to do usually since everyone is busy doing their own work...running around doing their own stuff. He says that even next year he thinks he will say that this year (ie 2011) was a very memorable one.
Reporter: Are you signing any project?
Karan: *shaking head in denial* Nahi..whenever I do I will personally give a press release on it so yeah..nothing right now.
The reporter asks for a message for his fans. Karan: "Viewers ko definitely wish karna chahoun ga a very happy Ganpati. Agar ap ghar pe nai rakhtey tou make sure you visit as many pandals as you can. Kehtey hein 11 visits karney chahiyein its a good omen. Tou just enjoy it. I wish you guys could come and join me in my visarjan. *winks* Thank you. "
Then they show the whole family doing the arti and then Karan picks up Ganesh Ji and goes to the car and his whole family sits in the car. Sasha is driving and Karan is sitting on the passengers seat. All the while that they do this they are chanting as well. While everyone is settling in the car the reporter asks Karan if they are going to drive fast or slow. Karan says slow and then says "normal speed pe." And then I think the TC people follow Karan's car someplace however the video soon ends.
