Boo smiled as she saw Khanak hitching up her sari and petticoat with purpose while she tried her best to find a relative clean and dry rock to sit on.
Why did I even think of wearing something like this, I'm sure it'll be in ruins by the time we get back.
Khanak is either foolish or doesn't care. Why can't I be like her? She thought as she watched her race down the beach behind Megha screaming out her name and after a short chase swung her up in the air squealing with delight. There was the slightest hint of sadness in Boo's eyes as her face broke out into a broad smile and she shouted out loud;
Go on Megha! You are my champion! Make Aunty sweat!
Yes Mama! You are It chachi!
Megha shouted back and ran away again, a little further this time.
Wow! Seems like we are catching up on precious family quality time which was long overdue right chote?
Akki declared as he walked up with Shaan, his arms around his brother's broad shoulders.
Exactly bro! Sometimes we don't realize what we have been missing unless we take time off or go on a holiday like this! I think Dad and Mom should take one too! You made a good decision bro, what say bhabhi?
That's an excellent thought Shaan. But you know Dad won't agree, we will have to force them to do it. As for our trip, we actually have to thank Megha, she was the one who wanted us to go chasing after you two!!

And what a chase it was! Megha made me play Sherlock Holmes searching for clues to locate you both in Singapore and Korea, and those are huge airports to cover! Phew, never again!
Akki made a show of wiping his brow.
Akki hon, you are forgetting the flight where the poor air hostesses were instructed to be on the lookout for the beautiful wide eyed doctor wearing a stethescope no less and a guy who looked like a movie star and they were asked to report back every half an hour, and they did... poor things! Thanks to my baby's innate charm! In that department she takes after you Shaan!
Boo burst out laughing as Shaan smiled and bowed and Akki looked peeved.
My bro is cool bhabhi! He just needs to relax and be himself a little more but he could do with some expert coaching isn't that right Akki!
Shaan guffawed as Akki boxed him down into the sand.
Now, now! Stop behaving like kids you two! I can imagine what little rascals you might have been! That makes me worried about my little one; I wonder who he will take after!
Boo was looking a little apprehensive.
Stop worrying baby, whoever she or he may end up to be like, rest assured she would not lack for love and love is what makes the world go round

Shaan asked suddenly anxious, his eyes scouring the beach.
They both disappeared that way the last I saw them, screaming like a couple of hyenas on a hunt! Shaan your wife is a trip!
Yes she is, she has me hooked on real strong and I am already having withdrawal symptoms! I need my drug!!
He grinned waving his arm as he rolled up his jeans and sprinted away in the pointed direction.

Boo asked Akki as she leaned on his shoulder as their eyes followed Shaan.

How does Khanak change identities? I just saw her behaving like an 8 year old child with Megha and then I see her looking all dignified and responsible in the avatar of a doctor! And obviously she is also extremely attractive because she managed to win the heart of our hot confirmed bachelor. What is her secret?
I really can't say my dear! I think that in every woman there is hidden a child, a lover, a mother and perhaps in some also a healer but that's more of an individual thing. Khanak just happens to assume these roles at the proper time and you are surprised to see them when all she is doing is acting her natural self, there is no pretense, part of the reason why our Shaan is drawn to her. Just like I am to you Boo, you too have all that in you, just be yourself and LET..IT..GO!!
I think you may be right after a long time! C'mon I want to walk on the beach!
She gave him a bright smile and stood up extending her hand out to him.
After covering several yards Shaan spotted Khanak's distinct pink and purple sari and Megha's sea green mermaid swimsuit with her bright yellow cap in the distance and slowed down to a stroll. He came to a stop within earshot. They seemed deeply immersed in what they were doing, oblivious to the rest of the world. He almost burst out laughing when he saw his Angel who had not so long ago been the picture of classy beauty and elegance; looking carefree as she crawled in the wet sand on her hands and knees, seeking some precious little trinkets which she appeared to be gathering in a makeshift bag fashioned out of her pallu.

Megha showed her something which she examined with great interest.
Oh! I have never seen anything like that before, I bet it belongs to a very special hermit crab and you have found it! Lucky you!
I will share it with you chachi! But don't tell chachu, this is our little secret!!
Shaan raised his eyebrows in amusement as Megha whispered these words quite loudly cupping her small hands around Khanak's ear, causing an outburst of his wife's divine musical laugh which ignited a spark of mischief in him. She was having fun at his expense and in his absence! Time to make her pay!
Here darling, a pink one! Awww!! Stop that (giggling,) it tickles! ( pause..then again)
Omg! Megha!!? You are getting way too naughty; I may want to complain to your mama!
Khanak squirmed and jumped when she felt a persistent soft caress on her bare back which seemed to be approaching a certain no man's land!
Megha who stood behind her watching the goings on with great interest; It's not me Chachi It's Chachu! Oops!!! She clamped her hand on her mouth in front of the stupefied Khanak and started to giggle, jumping and clapping as Shaan lifted his wife high up by the waist.
Put me down Shaan!
She screamed, kicking her legs in the air;
I know you are up to no good; you have even roped in an innocent child as your partner in crime, think about the example you are setting in front of her!
Khanak wrenched herself free and turned to face him, hands on hips, eyes spitting fire and her face set in impertinent anger. Shaan smirked and his eyes sparkled devilishly as they took in the sensuous picture she presented with her sari pulled up and tucked at the waist leaving her long legs bare to her knees and her pallu failing to do it's job as it fell off her shoulder giving a tantalizing glimpse of her cleavage of which she appeared completely unaware. The intensity of his gaze brought a flush rushing to her cheeks despite which she tried to maintain her righteous stance with poor success.
To him she looked like an untidy street urchin with her hair blowing wildly around her face and sand splattered all over but a very enticing one at that.
Go on answer me; what do you have to say in your defense?
Nothing!
Shaan threw up his hands in surrender; and sauntered up to drape her pallu properly taking the chance to whisper, his breath caressing her ear; Your raw beauty robs me of all speech, I can't think at all when I see you like this and that's my only defense.
She shivered suddenly self conscious and set about correcting her attire the best she could avoiding his eyes and turning her attention to Megha who had wandered off towards some rocks.
No! Stop! Don't do that!!!
Megha's foot hovered in midair when she heard both of them shout in unison. She was about to step into the tide pool whose myriad colors and creatures appeared very tempting to her curious eyes.
Why not Chachu, chachi?
Shaan and Khanak glanced at each other and then at Megha; there are sharp rocks in there which can hurt you and sometimes some of the creatures can sting when disturbed, it's better to admire from afar.
And sometimes a huge wave can come and drag you away, thought Shaan but didn't say so.
Though acutely disappointed she seemed to accept the reasoning being an intelligent child and the next half hour was spent in pleasant nature study. They found starfish, mussel, clams, sea anemone, tiny multicolored fish, crabs, algae and off course plenty of seaweed.
You know in some parts of the world people eat seaweed every day Megha?
Shaan queried as he piled up sand in an attempt to build a volcano.
Ugh! That must taste really bad chachu!
Her comical face made Khanak laugh.
It is rich in iodine and is considered a delicacy especially in Japan and China,
she said nodding.
And so is sushi which I missed out on tasting in the one place it should have been tasted all due to your darling Chachi!
Shaan said looking irritably at Khanak who rolled her eyes and looked away.
What is sushi chachu?
A preparation made out of rice and uncooked seafood.
Shaan said closing his eyes and dreamily licking his lips.
Yuck! Megha started to look a little green; Poor fishies! I am a Veggie!
You are a vegetable? Shaan looked confused.
She means that she is a vegetarian stupid!
Khanak laughed,
Good for you my baby, join the club! She hugged Megha.
Hola! How many more will you trap in your net? Wasn't one victim enough?
Shaan said in a lazy drawl, his face sly, and his eyes brimming with seductive sarcasm.
What do you mean? I haven't done anything!
Khanak's right Shaan, Megha decided one day that she hated meat which included fish, and she hasn't touched any since then. She's a staunch believer! C'mon baby, time for dinner!
Akki and Boo had strolled over hand in hand and Megha readily ran over to them.
After they had gone a ways...
Let's go too, I, I think I am hungry!
Khanak could feel her heart thudding in a thrill of anticipation.
No, not before I get my revenge!
What revenge? Shaan please don't!
Khanak screamed laughing as he carried her and gently put her down near the water's edge.
Serve you right for questioning my integrity in front of my niece and for looking scrumptious at the same time.
He had her pinned down beneath him not caring as the waves washed over soaking them thoroughly. The moon hovered large and bright directly above and the scene was reminiscent of a similar one not too long ago. Her skin gleamed like liquid silver and her wet hair spread out like a fan on the sand making him gulp and catch his breath.
Do you remember a moonlit beach, a delicious wet mermaid and a gentleman ruffian?
She nodded not trusting her voice; blood rushed to her head as she lay paralyzed under his arresting gaze, the memory of their first kiss and the promise that he had kept were as fresh as yesterday bringing tears of happiness which he gently kissed away.
Then will you permit this gentleman to behave like a ruffian just this once my sweets?
He pleaded his demeanor desperate, his voice shaking with ardor as his lips hovered hungrily above hers.
Do what you will my adorable ruffian; I want you to take this woman for granted.
She whispered eagerly sliding her arms around his neck as he sighed and roughly claimed her mouth with his.
