But baat ki gehrai ko samajh! This is another way of distinguishing Shaan from Suraj!! Moreover if u think about the personality of Suraj & Shaan u will automatically term them likewise as well. Shaan is too dynamic, too overwhelming, too awe inspiring & he commands that 'aap' from her whereas Suraj was too easy going, complacent & unresisting type with whom she always had the say, she was the 'boss' there. So she might have gone with 'tum'!!

Its a line of demarcation between her 2 relationship! Well I look at it this way but Adi might again clarify!

May be its the physical attraction, may be its the class difference, may be its the work relationship

Despite being educated and accomplished there is something about him thats very unnerving for her!

well I would say using "aap" is not always formal... to be honest I find it very cute...

can't describe it but there is something very special about it...

Shaan: Are you getting a good workout?

Walking towards the Athletic Center

Khanak: What a beautiful day, I love it!

Shaan: Yaha ka winters kaafi brutal hota hai

Khanak: I LOVE snow, maine dekha to nahi but movies mein jo dekha hai!

Something about that remark is so awfully endearing to him

Shaan: India mein? (softly)

Khanak: India mein bhi nahi dekha

Shaan: Hmmm

Khanak:Aap ski karte hain?

shaan: Haan, lekin uske liye Vermont karke ek state hai waha jaata hoon, or jaata tha

Khanak: I like the way you speak Hindi (smiles to herself)

He stops in his tracks, she only notices when the hand held by him feels the tug when he stops

She turns around and asks him "Kya hua?"

Shaan: you actually said something nice about me, if you noticed

Khanak: Ummm

Shaan: I think I may have imagined it (mocking)

Khanak: Could be...

Shaan: Thanks for helping me imagine (grins)

Khanak: Thanks for bringing me here! (smiles)

The start walking again, they pass by some what look like "Indian" students

Shaan: Knew hundreds, but was friends with less than 25, Dhruv, Samar and Arjun I was closest to among indians.

They enter the building, nod and smile at people passing by

Its a huge complex with a pro size basketball court, swimming pool, volleyball court, multiple tennis courts, along a huge hallway

It led to another annexe which was multiple courts of the above kind in a smaller scale, more for every day use

There were rooms to relax in and watch games on giant televisions

Smoothie store, and a store that sold UMASS memorabilia

She walks into the store

Turns around and looks at him, he squeezes her hand as if saying "Get yourself something!"

Khanak: phir mera haath chhodiye!

Shaan: nahi! Why do you need your hand to "see"

She laughs and shakes her head

Khanak: i need my brain to decide (spontaneous)

(It does strange things to me if you are holding my hand)

Shaan: Get it to work anyway! (firm)

She drags him from section to section to section.

Khanak: Agar aap haath nahi chhodenge to main size kaise dekhoongi?

Shaan picks up one end of a pink tee , she picks up another and they place it on her front.

Shaan: looks good to me!

Khanak: This is silly!

Shaan: No its a UMASS tee (winks)

She picks up 4 in rich colors, some hair trinkets, some key chains, some refrigerator magnets, a sweatshirt for Mehul, a water bottle for Mitali, pens and a note pad for Aada

He watches her carefully, as she makes up her mind, half smiles and walks around the store, dragging him along

After a minute he lets go of her hand to watch her do this in private

When she takes it all to the checkout, she turns around her eyes search for him all over.

There is a brief second of worry

As a group of basketball players wearing tees of another college enter and spread out

He weave shis way through the display tables and the students to get to her

Khanak: Mujhe laga aap chale gaye, 😳(she means wandering outside)

Shaan: Nahi, main yahi hoon!😳

They give each other the cutest smile

(bringing his wallet out as the cash register sounds noisily as the clerk rings through the purchases)
