Hi guys,

well this is my first FF.. am sure it will come no way close to any of the amazing ones posted here, but just giving it a shot!! This story is partly based on the reality of telly-stars and partly fictious..

Part1:

Its a regular hot summer day in Mumbai, the city of dreams...

Shaan comes back home tired and exhausted, a long day of auditions and photo shoots. His mom-Madhavi understanding the physical and emotional pain her dear son is going through decides to give him the lil' comfort she as his mom can provide.. his favourite refreshment ginger tea... and a shoulder to rest on!

Seeing his mom Shaan hides his frustrations and tiredness and puts up his best smile.. Shaan rests his head on his mom's lap and give a sigh.. Just then the phone rings, it's a call from her friend Saraswati Agarwal informing her that Natasha is coming back from hostel today. Madhavi then thinks that it would be a good idea to take Shaan along in that way he will get a change and anyways Natasha is his good childhood friend-

Madhavi- Shaan chalo hum Sarawati aunty ke ghar chatle hein... aaj Natasha hostel se vaapas aa rahi hai

Shaan initially refuses but then later agrees after all Natasha is his good friend.

In the meantime Shaan's dad-Sunil and brother Akshay return from their business equally tired. Shaan tries to avoid any conversation knowing what it might result in and so does Madhavi realise it and she hurries them also to get ready to leave to the Agarwals.

At the Agarwals, Mr. Paresh Agarwal is not very happy to see Shaan though happy about Sunil and Akshay's presence since his first daughter Kushboo is madly in love with Akshay and soon they are getting married'

Paresh- aaj mein bahut kush hoon Sunilji' Natasha aaj ghar aa rahi hai aur agle hafthe se job bhi join kar rahi hai..

Sunil- sahi mein' aise acche bache aaj kal bahut kumm milthe hein'looking at Shaan

Paresh- vo tho hai.. giving his sarcastic smile, aaj kal tho bache apne ma-baap ke kahan sunnthe hein... humare zamane mein tho '.

Madhavi and Sarawathi realizing Shaan's uncomfort and feeling he is being driven to a corner, interrupt

Sarawati- suniye, Natasha ko zara phone lagai.. vo abhi tak kyon nahi aayi

Just then the door bell rings and Natasha enters excitedly screaming "mom"!!

Everyone is excited about her return and exchange welcome hug.. She comes to Shaan and her heart skips a beat..

Natasha- Shaan kya bath hai.. apne dosth ko gale nahi lagaoge!!

Shaan- c'mmon Natasha yeh koi poochne ki baath hai and gives her a big warm hug..

Natasha hopes he would never let go at the same time Paresh is not very happy about his so called warm hug!!

Natasha tells her mom she is very hungry and they sit down for dinner when Sarawati kind of begins to get restless.

Madhavi- kya hua Sarawati.. aachanak tumhe kya hogaya' tashu bhi aagayi hai.. sab teek hai na..

Kushboo- arre nahi mummyji, its 9:30 na tho Laxman Resha ka bhukaar hai..

Sunil- vo kaisa bhukar hai'

Then Paresh and Kushboo burst into laughter saying that its Sarawati's new TV serial addiction and that too a Marathi one which she hardly understands..

Sarawathi- bhus bhus mazaak math udao' only if you watch the serial you would understand.. usme naa Khanak naam ki ladki lead role karthi hai.. kya acting I tell you Mads.. tum bhi dekhogi tho, tum bhi roz dekhne lagogi..

Sarawati turns on the TV to catch up with her daily ritual, while Tashu wants to catch up with Shaan all those things she missed while she was away. And Kushboo and Akshay the soon to be couple are in their own world with their eyes locked into each other..

Sunil and Paresh decide to retire into the study to discuss some business stuff, but before leaving Paresh signals Tashu to stay down here with Shaan and no taking him to her room.

As Shaan and Tashu are chit-chatting away, his eyes catch a glimpse of the serial on TV.

Natasha- vahan kya dekh rahe ho.. ek sexy super hot ladki thumhare samne baiti hai aur thum ho ki uss behenji ko dekh rahe ho.. thumhe kya hogaya Shaan.

Shaan- nahi aissi koi bath nahi' and he thinks to himself.. there is something about that girl, her eyes, her expressions, her ability to emote so easily without going over the top, her power to draw the audience to sit up and notice her, even though she is so petite and simple' Wooow!!

Natasha- tho Shaan thum kal mujhe kahan le jaa rahe ho.. I just have one week before starting work

Shaan- sorry kal tho mujhe auditions pe jaana hai.. but I'll plan something..

Natasha- isiliye kehthi hoon, yeh acting vacting chodo.. tum bhi office join karlo thab hum ek saath kaam bhi karlenge aur masthi bhi'hmm??

Shaan- abh thumb-bhi shuru math ho jayao'with a disappointed look..

Sunil comes back - array bhai ghar jaane ka koi irada hai ki nahi?' kal kuch logon ke liye office bhi jaana hai' humare paas kuch logon ki tarah'

Shaan- dad agar aapko kuch kehna hai tho seeda seeda kyon nahi kehthe'

Akshay coming for his lil' brother's rescue- haan haan chalte hai.. and changes the topic awkwardly to the wedding preparations'

After coming back home, Madhavi kisses Shaan on his forehead

and says- Goodnight Shaan, apne dad ki baathon par himmath math haarna.. dekhna ek na ek dhin tum bhi Sharukh ki tarah superstar banjaoge.. tab jaake apni is maa ko math bhool jaana..

Shaan laughs- actor tho mein banna chahtha hoon, par aap tho Nirupa Royji se bhi badkar hein..

Shaan wishes his mom goodnight and returns to his room and crashes on his bed..

And then those innocent shiny dark eyes which had the depth of the universe flashes in his dreams'.haaiii

wanted to give a kind of detailed introduction the lead characters... so here comes the next part:

Part 2:

Many days past by, Natasha has joined work, Akshay-Kushboo's wedding around the corner, and Shaan has been selected for a small banner film which he hasn't mentioned it to anyone at home…. And somewhere in another corner of Mumbai- lying on her bed in her own dream world is Khanak. The alarm was ringing loud and she is in no mood to wake up from her dreams and switch it off.. Her room-mate Gopi is running around the apartment getting ready for her work as a designer at a leading fashion-house…

Gopi- Khanak uttoo… aat bhaj gaye.. dher horahi hai… ab tho utt jao!!

Khanak- hmmm.. nahi.. I hate Mondays.. phir se vo bhag daud.. aur aaj tho vo Production vaale bhi aarahe hain...

Gopi- kyun... aaj kyun koi TRP problem hai kya?

Khanak- haan yaar… aaj kal kaun Marathi serials dekhtha hai.. ya tho angrezi serials ya hindi vale... Chalo mein tayyar hoke aathi hoon!!

And so begins her week with the usual rush in the local trains to reach the other end of the city for her shooting. As she enters the sets, there is an unusual calm… Khanak thinking that its because she turned up late, gives her warm smile to the technicians… But little does she realize it's the calm before the storm… Everyone goes about their usual duties, her co-stars are equally puzzled as they enter the sets.. and then the production head along with the director calls for a meeting with all the actors of the show…

They announce-" we are very happy to be a part of Laxman Resha and the response has been good. But jaise ki aap log kudh jaante ho, ki hindi serials ki pahoonch isse kahin zyada hai.. tho.. humari company ne ye decide kiya hai ki hum…

After that whatever was said, was all hazy and it took a while for Khanak for the reality to sink in.. the show was going to wrapped up in a month's time..

It was dusk and after a long and exhausting day, she was back at her apartment, waiting for her friend to come home… and her cell-phone rang:

Khanak- Hello papa

Her dad realizing that spark in his dear daughter's voice was missing and something was wrong for sure, but knowing his daughter's quality of hiding any sort of sadness or pain from her loved ones didn't want to press on it.. – kya haal, aaj kal humari beti ithni busy ho gayi hai na koi call ya chitti…

Khanak, lost in her own thoughts, paa aisi koi bath nahi.. bus kaam se ghar aathe aathe dher hojathi hai aur thab jaake mein apko phone karke disturb karna nahi chahthi.. and her voice begins to crack missing home, her family and all what she gave up chasing her dreams…she tells her dad- Papa mein kal bath karthi hoon, Gopi bhi aa gayi hai aur mein thak gayi hoon..

After hanging up, Khanak breaks down crying thinking how hard it was to leave her cozy home in Dhulwadi to come to the city of Mumbai, fighting all odds and get a role in a Marathi serial, a language she worked hard to learn..

She wondered with the wave of youngsters entering this industry everyday where will she find another job, and with a silent prayer to God goes off to bed hoping if he closed a door, he would open a window somewhere else……
