Friends,
As we wait for this maha epi to air, in 15 min, I just wanted to share some thoughts I had. Like most people, me also felt a bit letdown by the rush to introduce new characters and the rushed writing. But anyway, I saw the 10:30 a.m repeat of last night's epi and heard 2 things come out of Sam's mouth, which actually are quite important.

Point number 1. Natasha and Shaan were really in love, at one point. Deep, sincere love from Sam's point of view at least. She felt threatened by Natasha as well, because she thought Shaan didn't need anyone with Taashu around.

I have mentioned before that we need to know more about how Shaan came to fall in love with Natasha, and why he fell out of it when he met Khanak. Sam might help us there. Because if Shaan could fall in and out of love once, what guarentee that he won't do it again?

Point number 2- Khanak is not Shaan's 'type', according to Sam. I too made fun of this but I am wrong. Don't we say 'he is not your type ya', 'she is so your type, you should meet her' with our friends? I have said that to people and have heard it being said too.... Is it possible that Sam might just be right in some sense?

I mean, what do we mean when we say 'type'? We mean, he/she is of the same socio-economic background, same wavelength in thinking, similar taste in hobbies and interests, vagera vagera.... Khanak and Shaan are from two different worlds. Am not saying they shld not be in love. Love can overcome differences but not always. What if Sam is right? What if Shaan is blinded by love for Khanak and later, he too feels the same way? He and Taashu do come from similar backgrounds, and were in love once.

I do believe that these issues are relevant for today's younger generation, esp in urban areas. Just because RBO started as the story of a widow finding love again. does not mean it should not explore how strong or weak the love is...

Wud like to know your views. Let us put Sam's clothes and her lines behind us... not her fault.

I agree. Shaan is like a guy who cheated on his wife, except in this case, he was cheating on his girlfriend with his wife...that sounds idiotic, but in any case, there is truly never a guarantee that he won't do it when someone else comes along. I do think the directors should have explored this aspect. Great post :)

Powerful! ............. in blue
I actually thought of the exact same thing last nite!
UNTIL NOW his friends, his coterie hadnt made an appearance in the show.
Shaan was super secure of his choice
He basically had to defend her at home and his job was done
Now that she is being exposed to his REAL world, I wondered if Shaan's insecurities are beginning to creep in
It will be definitely super interesting to watch his feelings evolve
Just because he is intensely attracted to her phyisically, most of which will be taken care of tonite 😉 atleast theoretically....................... there is no assurance that the physical spark will mute all other differences
They cant be shown in bed all the time
The biggest commonality between Shanak is their attraction for each other, they are equals in it
Not much else..............
You are right, he had so much more common with Tashu and yet that did not last
Here, the only thing that keeps them going is the strong thread of romance, masked in their fights, arguments, teasing, flirting, and ofcourse in most convos they have.
Life is not all about flirting and being pinned against the wall for a kiss or a caress.
Now is the true test of their relationship, the wide socio-economic, language, culture, sophistication gap and how they address each
Very good post Rasika
As usual thought provoking and intelligent

Very good post Gaayu and very valid questions you have raised..as you said Shaan and Khanak are from two completely different worlds..and ppl have split up for lesser reasons in the past. Who is to say what will happen next??...Its good that Khanak has good self esteem, otherwise any other girl in her place may have given up long ago..given the hostile environment of the K house which has only recently let up!..

sam was right... on both her points..
for her, shaan natassha were the IT couple... u know - the ever-lasting couple! and to see that he fell out of natassha's love and married another girl must've been a major shocker for her.. and she may still be trying to figure out whether shaan really is out of natassha's love and in khanak's love - thus sam's constantly bringing up natassha.....
as for her second point, it was bang on.. we ALL know khanak is NOT shaan's type.. that doesnt mean sam was degrading khanak.. no.. but we all have certain types.. and the onyl reason we were pulled towards shanak in the first place was becuz khanak was NOT shaan's type - she was the total opposite.. and our friends - their first concern abt us is whether the person we r with is our type... so sam was right on this point.. now ofcourse, being new, she doesn';t knwo how deep of a connection shanak have.. how despite NOT being shaan's type, khanak still is the ideal girl for shaan, and most importantly - she is the one he is in love with... =)

Awsum post Dear...........so typically U, always "grey-matter stimulating"!

Believe u me Gaayu, i've pondered over point no. 1, close to a zillion times when the Tashu track was on, i mean she was a sweet gal........and trust me, the outcome of all my brain-storming sessions was that Shaan and Tashu simply drifted apart! Even during the initial days, when Shaan and Khanak had only just started bonding, Shaan had made it amply clear that theirs was just a 6-month alliance with no strings attached! But ironically, that was exactly the time when on the one hand cracks in the Shaan and Tashu relationship began to appear, and on the other hand Khanak believed and supported Shaan unconditionally, thereby laying the foundation for their relationship ahead! Shaan, thanks to his upbringing has always looked "outwards" for love, support, and appreciation, and Khanak proved to be the perfect fodder for the same! To put it simply, Taashu was nice, but Khanak was nicer; lucky bloke Shaan!!😆
As regards point no. 2, the "type" funda is truly a fascinating concept! Me thinks there are 2 aspects to it, one being the individual attributes of the partner like background/upbringing/value system/intellectual wavelength/emotional quotient......and so on! The other aspect is all of these facets put together in totality. Case in point is Shanak........If for Shaan, Khanak's innate goodness outweighs her inadaequacies on the English front, and if for Khanak, Shaan's unstinted support overshadows his immature, irresponsible behaviour; that in my opinion is a wonderful example of finding ur "type".........it's all about finding one's own comfort zone, being able to be one's true self with one's partner, and wanting to want with as much intensity as being wanted!
BTW, i totally agree wid ur take on Sam's clothes😉, today's pink suit was like really bad.....it even outdid Khanak's lacy outings!!
Cheers,

@ Dyotona
sorry... saw this only now.

Love your comments. So, the question then is, why did Shaan and Taashu fall apart? what happened? Or do people grow out of love without any reason? Not sure if we were given any explanation on that.

My view (I only started seeing RBO from July) is that Shaan felt 'responsible' for Khanak, being her husband, and wanted to protect her (saving her from those rogue baas in the bus). Slowly, protection became care and concern when he realised that for all her street-smartness, she was an innocent girl at heart.

Loved your take on 'type'!
