ZEE finally tries its hand on a love story. Airing from September 22, Ranbir Rano promises to be a break away from Saas-Bahu soaps and reality shows. Inspired from the epic love tales of Heer-Ranjha, Sohni Mahiwal and Romeo and Juliet, will Ranbir Rano be the next big thing to happen on Zee TV? The story is about Ranbir from the small town of Dera-bassi in Punjab. Rano too belongs to the same town. She is from a typical conservative Punjabi family. On her way to Dharamsala one day, Rano meets the man of his dreams - Ranbir. What follows is series of events that dreamy love stories are made of – sweet moments between the couple, feuding households and love that outshines all obstacles...

The soap will also star Achint Kaur, Deep Dhillon, Rajendra Gupta, Pankaj Beri, SG Makhija, Kunika Lal and more. Juggling politics and business and in the midst going through two divorces, Kunika Lal is back playing a vamp in the new show. She says, " Love is an evergreen subject. It doesn't matter whether you're 20 or 55; one derives pleasure seeing people romance. Love is so distressing. Ranbir Rano is love story but it has completely different look to it.

Tucked away in Kamal Amrohi studio in Mumbai, the locations represent the quintessential small town Punjab complete with Gurudwaras.

Marking his debut, it remains to be seen if the lead actor will indeed make a mark in the otherwise flooded market of the daily soaps.
