Who do you loathe the most in the Ramayan?

The first exile happened for a reason - to kill Ravan and liberate the world, so anyone who contributed to the 1st exile, it was their role in the epic. They had to do what they did, because Ravan had to be killed. Morever, I never hated or disliked Kaikeyi. I don't know why she's on the list.

But I feel that Sita's exile did not have to happen. Ravan was already vanquished. The world was liberated. Why did Sita have to go into exile? The people of Ayodhya who slandered Sita were just being idiots. That's why I dislike them the most. They were not contributing for any higher purpose.

I enabled multiple votes in this poll. You can vote for more than one villain - I just did for both Sita's enemies (twice!!!) and Manthara and Kaikeyi - it worked. Like they say in Chicago, vote early, vote often😆

The people of Ayodhya weren't idiots - they were vile. Don't judge them just b'cos they praised Rama - the dhobi who kicked his wife out was simply wicked and heartless. While some may have been simple doubters, many were downright misogynists. Another factoid in the Ramayan - when Sita takes her vow, those witnessing do not apologize to her for having cast aspersions on her. That's another of Ramanand Sagar's big lies.

Also, just b'cos you don't hate Kaikeyi doesn't mean that no one else does. She was a very disrespectful woman, and the complete opposite of Sita, and treated Kaushalya and Sumitra with great disdain, and ensured that their marriages were miserable. Also, even in the larger scheme of things, Kaikeyi and Manthara did not want Rama's exile to see Ravan killed: they wanted him exiled for Bharat's sake. Hardly praiseworthy. Besides, one can argue that Rama & Lakshman could have gone to war against Ravan even as king (remember, Mandhata and Aranya both did), and still have won. So it's even arguable whether the exile was essential.

Shurpanakha I hate less than Manthara - she was just a lusty woman who having lost her husband, would have married anybody. Manthara was just a witch.
