Also, in the versions that do have Ravan battling Dasharath, the battle ends in a stalemate, and Ravan later asks Brahma to grant that no sons are born of Dasharath's loins - which is why he needed to perform that yagna. Also, those battles did not feature Kaikeyi, from what I remember seeing (only place where it's shown is the ZeeTV serial Ravan.)

Also, didn't Ravan use the planets as steps to his throne. The story I have heard in a Hari Katha is, Ravan captures the planets and uses them as the steps on his throne. He walks on them everytime he climbs to sit on his throne. The ultimate insult! When it comes to Shani he turns him over because if Shani's dhristi falls on anyone then their life will be ruined. One day Narad comes to see Ravan. Of course, Narad comes there with a reason. He pretends to admire Ravan's bravery in capturing the planets. He asks Ravan why Shani alone is turned over. Ravan replies that he does not want Shani's drishti to fall on him. Narad laughs and says that a brave warrior like Ravan should not be afraid of such things. If he is afraid of such things, how can he call himself invincible? Ravan's ego is hurt and he orders Shani to be turned over. The next time Ravan walks on the steps to ascend his throne Shani's dhristi falls on Ravan. That incident was supposed to be the start of his downfall. Has anyone heard of the version I posted above?

I have never heard of Shani getting electric shocks! I wish the Sagars would film the Ramayan and not Sagarayan.

I too have heard of the story of Ravan using the Navagrahas as stepping stones. That story is quite popular in South India. But I do not know which version of Ramayan it comes from. I think many of these stories come from Ravana Kaviyam (this is a Tamil book - a book about Ravan) and Raghu Vamsa (which Kalidasa wrote). I have not read these books but I've heard some stories and exerpts from these two.

As for the story of Ravan holding the Navagrahas as prisoners - I've heard of such a version but never knew the whole story or its origin.

The last episode was quite good. The expressions of every character was portrayed very well. The promo shown was just a shorter version of the ad for Ramayan that is telecast inbetween the serials.

Also, will they show Bharat getting ready to jump into the fire before Ram comes? I hope so. Dosen't Ram send Hanuman ahead to stop Bharat and tell him that he (Ram) is on his way? I am waiting for Bharat/Shatrugan/Ram/Lakshman milap. Also, Seetha/Urmila/Strutkirti/Mandavi/matas/ and everyone else in Ayodhya milap. I hope they also show Janakpurians with Janak, his wife, his brother/wife, Mallavika, those 2 cute kids (they must be grown up after 14 years) from Mithila coming to the Rajyabishek. I am sure all the Rishi/munis will also show up for the Rajyabishek. The whole gang together. I hope they make it very festive and fun to watch. Get the Yudh done already! I want to go back to Ayodhya now.
