I agree with you. While I accept that the killings of Kumbhakarna and Indrajit were necessary for Rama to be able to kill Ravan, I am against the annual burning of the effigies of Kumbhakarna and Indrajit 😡 - and this was long before anybody serialized the epics on TV. I always felt that they were otherwise noble souls, and don't deserve to be insulted annually.

My opinion: only Ravan ought to be burned in effigy. Reduces the entertainment value? Okay, throw in Shurpanakha 😈 😈 😈 😈 😈

On Dussahra, the statues of Ravan, Inderjeet and KK are burnt to mark the victory! But why Kumbkaran (KK) though? You know, Diwali is celebrated 20 days after Dusshra, that means that it took Lord Ram, Sitaji, Laxman and others 20 days to come back to Ayodha then!?

chandra what usaid above here about burning effigies of kumbhakarn and indrajeet i agree now that i understand more

they had to be killed as u said to reach ravan but as far as my memory goes though kumbhakran being a good soul was just hungry all the time and used to eat all humans and all

wasnt this in some debate item some time back too

and for indrajeet it was said he did coz his dad told him to

but i dont get it still they were not that evil as ravan was though here he is the biggest comedian for us

haha no offences akhilendra here has been fabolous with his expressions and to think we thought he wud not provide any humor 😆😆

Very quickly, during the samudra-manthan (churning of the ocean), the devas and the asuras were both after the amrit (nectar) which would make them immortal. This was where Vishnu assumed the Kurma (turtle) avatar and supported on his back the mountain used to churn the ocean.

Finally, when the nectar was out, Vishnu took the form of Mohini to entice the asuras, while the devas were busy having the amrit. However, one Asura did manage to get some of the nectar, but Vishnu spotted it in time. He didn't want that asura to become immortal, so before the nectar could go down his food pipe, he severed his head with his sudarshan chakra. The body - Ketu - was therefore dead, but the head - Rahu - which had received the nectar - was immortal.

This is also the classic explanation of solar eclipses - Rahu trying to eat Surya-dev every once in several years, and the Surya-dev, after being eaten, emerging out of his neck. And yes, in Bal Hanuman, when Hanuman was out to eat Surya-dev, Rahu complained to Indra that Hanuman was eating his food.

Ravan can have Dhanya the lollypop back if he returns Sita 😆 Dashanand, aap Dhanyamalini ko wapas kabhi milenga nahi!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

However, one thing I can't give Dhanya - she can't have the cosmos in our living room - sorry, that's one sacrifice I expect her to make! 😆😆 However, she can decorate my rooms with whatever else she wants - but Rahu/Ketu isn't kid friendly 😆😆😆 However, she'll have more reason to prefer me to Lankesh, since I won't be sending her kid(s) to die 😉😉 (something tells me she'll gladly let go of having the Cosmos in her living room in return for such small mercies 😆😆😆)

P.S. Today has been a horrible day for accessing the net once I came back home - horribly slow. Incidentally, congrats, Mallika & Chatter on hitting 200 pages - too bad I couldn't savor it
