I heard this story when I was a kid and thought to share this wid you. It is a very nice story and hope u all will like it.
When the Ram-setu was being constructed, Shri Ram ji were watching all the sena with loving eyes. He saw that all the men were working so hard to construct this Ram-Setu. At that time there was a squirrel nearby who was also watching the monkey sena constructing the setu. She also thought to help Shri Ram ji but so little was she that she couldn't do anything. Suddenly she thought that she will also help filling the ocean so that all the monkey sena could cross the ocean and can go to Lanka. She quickly went to the sea shore and wet herself with the water, came back to a sandy place and allowed the sand/mud on her body and went back to water. She was thinking that by bringing this mud/sand in the water she will also help the ocean to fill quickly and help Shri Ramji's sena to cross the ocean. And she kept doing this and didn't even bothered that she is only a little and how can she fill a grand ocean with such an approach. All she knew was that she also wanted to help them, help Lord Shri Ram.
Shri Ram ji was walking and watching all the sena and there He saw this little squirrel doing this. He then came to know why she was doing this. Shri Ram ji got so emotional and He went to the squirrel, picked her up and placed her on His hands. He then ran His hand with His three fingers on the back of the squirrel with such a great affection, thanking her for helping Him. And then there at the back of the squirrel three finger-lines were left from Shri Ram and ever since this incident squirrels have three lines at their back running from top to bottom.
