Interpretations of Ramayan in Kannada in 13^th century follows the Jain tradition. It's referred to as Kumudena Ramayan. But Kuvempu ( Ku Vem Pu is the pen name for Kuppali Venkatappa Puttappa" , Dr. K. V. Puttappa. Jnanpith awardee) wrote Shri Ramayan Darshanam based on Valmiki Ramayan in 20^th century. Accordingly, Ayodhya is referred to as Saket in certain references.

The author of this book, Veerappa Moily has drawn his personal conclusions through his book in Kannada which is later translated into English. It's his personal interpretation when he refers to the sorrow that engulfed the whole of Ayodhya. Kaikeyi's envy and desire spread like forest fire and covered or plunged the city of Saketa in darkness. That is the author's narrative.
