here goes.. part 8...ENJOY!!!

Part 8

It was a beautiful night. The sky was full of shining stars, even the moon couldn't keep itself from fully coming out to witness the meeting of the two…

A few hours later in her room, Rani sat by her window looking at the moon in awe, wondering what Yudi was doing at that point in time. She looked at the time.. it was not even 10pm!

Smiling at the night's events, she decided to do something …something that would surprise Yudi as much as Yudi was planning to surprise her.

Sure that this idea would be a good one, Rani stood up from her seat by the window and walked over to the other side of the room……

An hour or so later, Yudi was sitting by the riverbank. Looking at his watch, as he had been doing for the last half an hour, Yudi sighed. He was sick of waiting for Rani to come.. he yearned her presence…and felt that he couldn't possible wait any longer. Looking into the distance from his special hiding place..he saw someone wearing an orange sari, with a ghoongat pulled over her head walking towards him. His heart skipping a beat, he hid further behind the tree so as not to be seen. A few minutes later, he heard footsteps approaching. Smiling, he came up behind her, and hugged her….

"Aap aa gayi…itna der kyun laga diya aapne……hum to… khair.. ab aap yahaan hoon, hume koi shikaayat nahi…chaliye…"

(You've come….why did you take so long…I was….anway…now that you're here I have no complaints..come…)

He went to grab her hand…when she spoke….

"Aap.. kya kar rahe hain?"(What are you doing?)

Yudi was puzzled to hear her voice raspy and deeper than usual.

"Rani.. yeh aap ke awaz ko kya ho gaya.." (Rani,…what has happened to your voice?)

"Humra naam Rani nahi hain…lekin..agar aap chahte hain.. to hum aap ke dil ki Rani hone ke liye thayyar hoon….aur jaha thak awaz ka sawal hain..tho buddapan main aisa ho jata hain"

(My name isn't Rani..but if you wish.. I am ready to be the queen of your heart….and as far as my voice is concerned..then this happens in old age..)

Yudi shocked, watched in dismay as she turned around. The sari and slim figure may have been nearly the same, but the person certainly wasn't. He blushed, embarrassed, as he looked into the eyes of an elderly and wrinkly woman. She smiled at him, revealing 4 teeth missing and laughed. Yudi stood, still frozen to the spot, as her laughing changed to coughing and choking.

"Sambhal ke…chaliye.. aap ko hum ghar tak chodd denge….hume maaf kar dijiye…ghalat faimi ke liye.." (Careful…come.. I will drop you home.. forgive me please.. for the misunderstanding)

"Arre beta…hum ko pata hai ke aap kisi ke liye besabri se intazaar kar rahe hain.. aap chinta mat kijiye Kunwarji…humare ghar tho yaha aas pas hai…hum chalte hain.. aur haan, aaj raat ke bare mein hum kisi ko kuch nahi kahenge….hum chalte hain.. pranam"(Beta…I know you are waiting for someone impatiently… don't worry kunwarji.. my house is nearby, I will go.. and yes… I wont tell anyone about tonight! Im going now.. pranam)

Yudi was still blushing as he watched the elderly lady walk off. He couldn't believe he hadn't seen her features in the distance, and hadn't realized sooner! He looked at his watch, and sighed. It was half 11, and still no sign of Rani. Disappointed, Yudi sat on the riverbank……and, unwillingly, drifted off into a deep sleep.

Rani, meanwhile, came out from her own hiding place, giggling to herself. She knew about how the old lady was going to go for her midnight walk along the river as she did every night, and had decided to wait for her to go past before she made an appearance. Walking over to the riverside she looked at Yudi, sitting with his head, rested on his arms, sleeping with a cute expression on his face…..

Her payal tinkled, the sound standing out against the silence of the night. Yudi, hearing this, stirred slightly…but didn't get up… Rani shook her bangles gently.. their sound having the same effect..Yudi just scrunched up his nose and moved his head slightly….

Rani, smiling, dipped her hand into the cool waters of the river bank, and splashed it on Yudi, laughing mischeviously.

After stirring for a second, Yudi woke up with an angry face, and looked at who had done this. However, upon seeing Rani with her back towards him, bending over to get more water, he smiled, and decided to play a trick back on her.

Rani turned around to see Yudi still asleep and sighed. She bent down , going to place her hand on his cheek to wake him, when Yudi opened his eyes, and smiled, pulling a very shocked Rani into his lap. He sat there for a few seconds, breathing in the beautiful scent of her long silky hair before he spoke…

"Aapka sazaa, der hone ke liye aur yeh sab karne ke liye, ye hai ke aap kahin nahin jaa sakthi hain… humaare saath pura raat bithana hoga…." (Your punishment..for being late and doing all this.. is that you cant go.. you have to spent the whole night with me!)

Rani, blushing slightly, smiled and held onto his hand….

"Kunwarji yeh raat humare liye sazaa nahin hai… yeh tho humare zindagi ka sabse sunehra aur yaadkar raat hoongi…." (Kunwarji.. this night is not a punishment for me.. this will be the most memorable and beautiful night of my live)

"Nahin Rani… humare zindagi ke sabse sunehra raat tab hoga…jab hum aapko apni patni keh sakthe hain..jab in do pyaar karne wale ke dil, aur do aatma ka milan hota….jab aap humare saamne dulhan ke roop mein hoonge…." (No Rani..the most beautiful night of our life will be when I can call you my wife, when these two lovers' hearts, and two souls meet, when you come before me dressed as a bride…)

He smiled, knowing that the girl sitting in his lap, who had turned away from him, would be blushing shyly at the thought of their suhaag raat. He stood her up and looked at her. She was wearing a beautiful dark red/maroon lehenga, with delicate gold beading, a beautiful gold and stone necklace and matching churiyan and gold kangan…Her hair was free flowing with layers, her eyes lined heavily with beautiful black eyeliner, and gold shadow.. her lips blood red from the lipstick she'd applied, a gold bindi on her forehead added even more sparkle. Looking at her dressed in the outfits from the shagun, the desire to hold her came into Yudi's mind, he was almost choked with emotion seeing Rani dressed in this, looking like a bride already. He was tempted to grab her and take her to the nearest mandir.. and marry her right there…

She smiled at him, happy to see his face upon looking at her outfit, and also blushed as she looked at Yudi's outfit. He was matching her too...wearing a maroon shirt with the top buttons undone with his favourite beige trousers.

" Aur ek baat…aaj aap chande se bhi ziyada khoobsurat lag rahi ho….aap ne humaare liye yeh sab kiya hai?" (Another thing…today you look more beautiful that the moon, you did this for me?)

"Ji Kunwerji….humne socha ke aap humein surprise deh rahe hain..humein bhi kuch karna chahiye…." (Yes kunwarji.. I thought that you were giving me a surprise..I should do something too)

Yudi smiled, appreciating how strange it must have been for Rani, who was very simple and shy, to have dressed up like this, and spoken so openly to him. He was thankful, thankful that she had done so much for him, even if it was by doing something so little.

Holding onto her hand, he walked with her down the riverbank, to a small hut, not unlike the hut that they once spent the night together when Rani was in her RB role.

He took her in and watched as she looked around in awe. Beautiful large roses were cascading down the sides of the hut, in both Red and White.

In the middle of the hut was a simple small table, with a red rose on it and two chairs next to each other. Sitting Rani down on one chair, Yudi went to a small box and pulled out 2 glasses and a large bottle. He popped open the cork of the bottle, poured the foaming drink into two long flutes, and passing one to Rani. Rani, worried at the drink in her hand, glanced over at Yudi, who had already gulped it down. Feeling that she didn't want to upset him, she brought the glass up to her lips. Feeling riddled with guilt, she decided to be honest…

"Kunwarji…humein maaf kar dijiye.. humein sharaab peena achcha nahin lagta.. aap pee lijiye….." (Kunwarji..forgive me…I don't like to drink alcohol…you drink it..)

Yudi smiled and stroked her cheek.

"Aap humare hone wali patni hai.. aur aap ko lagta hain ke humne in sab cheezon ke bare mein nahin socha? Humein pata hai ke aapko sharaab peena achcha nahin lagta..humein bhi itna achcha nahin lagta…yeh sirf fizzy fruit ka juice hain….."

(You are my future wife… and you think I haven't thought of these things? I know that you don't like to drink alcohol.. I don't like it also..this is just fizzy fruit juice…)

Smiling at him, she sipped her drink. He got up again and went to the box, and took out some smaller boxes…

"Rani.. humein khana banana nahin aata..lekin humne koshish kiya aap ke liye kuch khana banana ke liye…..agar ghalti hogayi humse tho humein maaf kardijiye…"

(Rani.. I don't know how to cook..but I tried to make something for you…if I've made a mistake forgive me please..)

" Kunwarji.. yeh aap kya ke rahe hain.. humein achcha lagaa ke aapne koshish kiya.. aur vaise bhi.. humein poora yakeen hain ke khana bahut achchi tara se banaaya aapne…"

(Kunwarji..what are you saying? I like the fact that you tried..and anyway, I have full faith that you have made the food very well)

He poured in some rice on a plate. Rani watched, amused, as he put some daal on top of it and went over to feed her.

"Rani…pata nahi yeh chawal ko kya ho gaya.. humne oose heat par rakh diya.. lekin.. aap pehle ka liijiye…" (Rani.. I don't know whats happened to this rice.. I put it on the heat but.. you try it first)

He fed Rani some rice. Rani smiles and began to eat it, when she winced slightly. The rice was still hard, and the daal had no salt or flavor in it…

"Bahut achcha hain Kunwarji……aap ke iss chawal ko kaise prepare kiya?"

(Ver good Kunwarji…how did you prepare this rice?)

"Woh tho simple tha.. is ko ek pan main dal diya, heat par rakh diya 10 minute ke liye…aur ban gaya!" (That was simple.. I put it in a pan, put it on the heat for ten minutes..and it was made!)

Rani, looking at him, threw her head back and laughed so hard that her eyes began to water. She found it hilarious that Yudi had not put any water or things in to make it softer. But she didn't want to hurt his feelings, so just took the plate from him, and slowly, continued to eat his disastrous food!

Yudi, puzzled, stopped Rani from eating and took the spoon. Tasting the badly cooked rice, he grimaced and looked disappointed. Rani put her hand on his shoulder, and lifted his head up so he looked at her. Seeing Rani smiling at him lovingly, he cheered up and went over to the box, picking up a box of sandwiches.

"Theek hai…daal aur chawal achcha nahin tha…ab…Yeh hai humara speciality..sandwich! Itna achcha nahin hain.. par yeh humara back up plan tha…"

(OK…The daal and rice wasn't good… now..heres our speciality ..sandwich! Its not that nice but it was our back up plan!)

Rani laughed again as they sat and spoke about the days events, whilst feeding each other. So lost were they in each others presence, They didn't even realize the time that had passed, and the fact that the sun was starting to rise. Rani, aware of what people would say if their secret was discovered, got up to leave. She wanted to do something to thank Yudi……but couldn't bring herself to say to him as she was so shy. She told him she was going and waited until he had turned his back towards her, to clear up the table. Smiling, she tiptoed behind him and hugged him from behind. Yudi, surprised at Rani's boldness turned around and looked at her. She smiled shyly and started to walk backwards. Yudi, not satisfied with just one hug, opened his arms and grinned. Rani, not feeling so shy as before now she had hugged him, ran up to him and let herself be engulfed in his loving embrace. They stayed like that for some minute until the noise of roosters crowing brought them back to reality.

"Humein jaana hoga kunwarji..aaj ke sagai ke rasam ke liye kuch tayaari karni chaiyye…." (I have to go Kunwarji…theres some preparations I have to do for today's engagement ceremony)

Blushing furiously, Rani broke away from his embrace and ran out. Yudi smiled, his heart beating the fastest he had ever known it to, as he watched Rani run happily back home…..
