for mechocoholic.... i just want to let you know that i was born and raised in sikh family but form last many years i am MAA DURGA Devotee, and have adapted hindu religion full heartedly and ma very proud of it ,.... the topic is not against what hindus think and do ,, this is regarding this particular person whos justification for rejecting girls is somewhere related to the religion .... take any religion from any part of the world .. you will not find any single community who is 100% devoted to the religion they believe ... so hence this is not fight for and against religion.. .. this is open discussion please do not divert it any other topic,.... we would like to keep healthy and just debatable without personal attacks....
hoping this clears everything ,. thank you for being so understanding

You and I are on the same page so far as not trying to make any personal attacks, i don't think i made any in my post, and if i did unkowingly i apologize for it, there was no such intention, but i have read remarks that do put hindus in a negative light, time and again on this forum, so i guess this was just a vent from all that...not entirely directed at your post....
I come from a hindu family, and my uncle is married to a christian, for the past 24 years, and we still enjoy a close, tight-knit, and loving bond, religion doesn't have to matter if the person is right in ideal circumstances, but saying that considering religious beliefs in marraige is being prejudiced, is incorrect...and this is all bsed on the assumption that religion was even an issue, we don't know that, it might not have been an issue at all....harpreet is completely unsuitable for him anyways, coz she's only 20, and this man is 34...34...that's a whopping 14 year difference, a generation gap almost, just a few years ago, their marraige, would have been not only illegal, but stautory rape, so in any case she's not the right fit for him...religion aside...

I find that reallyyyyyy stupid, to say NOW that religion matters. Hello then why bring her to this point. and why pick 15 girls with different religions. Y didn't you pick from the start girls with the same religious background???? If that is a big issue in your family then by bring Dimpy Harpreet Swati Nikunj to the finals.............right now its a no brainer then, Mrinmai is the only one Marathi if I am not mistaken??? THAT IS REALLY DUMB!

I doubt that religion was an issue, or else, Rahul's family, who had a hand in shortlisting down to the final 15, wouldn't have picked Swati & Harpreet.
But age? Rahul knew all their ages going in, so how is he now rejecting her b'cos she's too young? In that case, she shouldn't have come so far, and even Dimpy, who is what, 23, should be next on the chopping block. Both religion & age were poor reasons to reject Harpreet at this stage, even though I'm happy for her.
Another criteria - language. Pramode Mahajan, before the BJP came to power, was really more of a local Marathi leader, rather than national, and became national much later. So region/language has to be a big issue - it's not like Rahul is from a cosmopolitan family in Mumbai. So if age and religion are disqualifying factors, then the next disqualifying factor should be region/language, and the fact that Nikunj and Dimpy are non-Marathis/ don't know Marathi should eliminate them as well, or else, they'd be totally lost during family conversations.
So who does Rahul visit tomorrow? Is this week going to be visits to the families @ Faridabad, Kolkata and Pune?

But when did he say it???????????? hs he ever said it?????????? these are all assumtions people are making on their own...if he doesn't choose harpreet, can religion be the only reason, she is 14 years younger to him, can't that be a reason. I agree with you that had religion been a huge factor, he should have thought it through while shorlisting the girls, but he did shorlist them , which means that religion cannot be the factor, it hs to be another reason....and my hunch is harpreet, most likely is gonna be in the top 3...mrinmayi is not as strong a contender as harpreet ..IMO...so final 3 might be harpreet, nikunj, and dimpy, but the winner might be dimpy or nikunj, based on rahul's attraction to them, and chemistry with them...

I have been meaning to start this topic for so many days but was not sure in my mind how everyone will take it.
My two cents- He selected girls from different religions so that if he finalizes one of them, he gets a clean chit to be out of the relationship and committment based on religious compatibility. This applies to the finalized gilrs also. I think the whole point of showing Harpreet's family ( I have just seen the precap) and Gurudwara is to take the two very people to that point and make them realize what they will have to commit for once the relationship advances to marriage.
I agree to the fact that inter religious marriages should happen between two mature thinking people who love each other more tan their religion and respect each other's identity after marriage. Arranged marriages should happpen between the same religion couple as it is one easy step to post marriage compatibility where love blossoms slowly.

Whether its assumption or a fact is beyond me......there are to many topics in this forum that sound like facts.......nevertheless.......my reply would be the same. If its a assumption, well then I am disagreeing it by saying that he knew each girls background before picking the top 15. If it is a fact, then I am disagreeing with Rahul, because he knew their backgrounds and there is no need to bring them all the way to the top to drop them flat on the ground when you were not interested in different religious backgrounds. I really don't know who the top 3 wil be. And really don't care, because there will be one winner, so one person will be eliminated one at a time eventually. I think the strongest is Nikunj, but there are doubts on her also. He finally saw that she is egoistic, which he said will be a big problem. So who knows.

Again, choco..few days back they had a discussion about age etc, where Rahul said that 'Age does not matter and none should use age factor as a criteria' [This was on the terrace, where Pri was eliminated]. So again, 14-15 years or whatever should not matter to him. IMO, Harpreet used a middle man to get the show and like Mrinmayi claimed , "She got an exit whenever she wanted". So thus proves, Harpreet was not there to get married.

Agree with you ...
A couple of points i wanna make first are...
1. We don't know if he has rejected harpreet yet, it's just an assumption...i think harpreet will more than likely be in the final 3...
2. If indeed he did reject her, we dunno the reason was religion/age or any such factor, it could be anything, he has to reject 3 of the remaining 4 girls, as he can in the end only marry, although given a choice i'm sure he would want to marry more than 1....
Now....back to your post...you are right that he knew harpreet's age all along, and himself has said that age is not a big factor, but maybe after meeting her family he has realized the full implications of her being much younger, it's possible that after the intial euphoria dies down, he is able to see things more clearly....
No point in invoking rahul's father's name in this madness....there is no indication that rahul is not from a cosmopolitan family....mumbaiites, inevitably are more cosmopolitan that people from other parts of the country,.....
And, even his first wife was a non-maharashtrian, she belonged to a different part of India, and different language....so he clearly does not put that much emphasis on cultural background....
