Karna was indeed great in some respects despite committing the heinous crime of ordering assault on Draupadi.

Some days ago I was thinking...Does he have some similarities with Suresh of Grihadaha?

See murder can have justification.

Robbery can have justification.

Sexual assault has no justification. It shows the world what the assaulter is. Someone who would attack a fellow human he perceived as weak. It was a crime then, has been a crime since then, is a crime now.

Moreover, Karna's kingdom was the hub of sex trafficking in Aryavarta which dealt in CHILDREN.

Karna also insulted lower classes left, right, and center.

He also insulted women who had freedoms.

His mother gave him up for adoption, but he himself admitted to having had a cushy life. He was educated with princes, and the only lesson he didn't get was Brahmashira because he stated he wanted to kill Arjuna with it. Karna got it from Parasu Ram, anyway.

Calling Karna great is like calling Abu Bakr al Baghdadi great. Both were leaders greatly admired by their followers. Both were criminals and sex traffickers.

Actually, I have a more recent comparison for Karna.

There is a story named Shreekrishnakirtan. It is a must read for whoever studies History of Bengali literature.

In that story Radha falls head over heels in love with Krishna after he assaults her. Storm was once talking about that story.

This story is not appreciated but it is valued because it is the second known Bengali Literature.

The other day when I was watching Bulbul on Netflix, the vamp in that movie was singing the 'kalankini radha' song. I googled that song and basically the writer was calling Radha 'characterless' for falling in love with the 'playboy' Krishna inspite of being married to Ayan and in the end, she realizes her mistake when Krishna dumps her something like that was the meaning of the song.

Red: Shocking...did not know any of these.😑 Can you share details?

Red Italics: After doing all that rona dhona about being a victim of caste discrimination!!

I didn't call Karna great. Some of his acts are great. These acts are popularized. But the assaulting acts are lesser known. So it is possible for people who have not studied MB in detail to call Karna great.

Personally I think of Karna as a grey character, if we consider him as a character.

But in real life I would hate a person like him to the core.

I have a question:

In Swargarohana Parva...Duryodhana was in Swarga because his Papa outweighed his Punya. Karna was in Naraka because his Punya outwighed his Papa. Don't know whether I remember this correctly.

But if it is true...Then why is it so?

Evidenceof Karna's casteism and misgyny. It'sabout 6 or 7 pages long.

Shalya said, "The abandonment of the afflicted andthe sale of wives and children are, O Karna, prevalent amongst the Angas whoseking thou art

Karna was in Narka because he had to go to Suryalok from there and hence needed more balancing, he had to go to Suryalok because all of them went to their fathers. And it was anyway more to hurt Yudhishtir by showing his loved ones in Narka.

By the way any idea for how long Duryodhan stayed in Narka? Because by the time of Parikshit he had to return to earth as Kaliyug? Going by epic's (not history which as it is don't involve swarga/narak) universe he stayed in Narka for much lesser time than he spent in Swarga as the king thereπŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†

Even the mahanta of Karna that is highlighted doesn't seem any kind of mahanta to me. However I don't take the Karna Shalya convo very seriously, both were just fighting each other and over exaggerating the ills of each other's state and governance (just like Rahul Gandhi made that campaign against Modi or Modi against Mamta). Not everything needs to completely true there it's mostly over exaggeration
