Karna was in Narka because he had to go to Suryalok from there and hence needed more balancing, he had to go to Suryalok because all of them went to their fathers. And it was anyway more to hurt Yudhishtir by showing his loved ones in Narka.
By the way any idea for how long Duryodhan stayed in Narka? Because by the time of Parikshit he had to return to earth as Kaliyug? Going by epic's (not history which as it is don't involve swarga/narak) universe he stayed in Narka for much lesser time than he spent in Swarga as the king thereπππ
Even the mahanta of Karna that is highlighted doesn't seem any kind of mahanta to me. However I don't take the Karna Shalya convo very seriously, both were just fighting each other and over exaggerating the ills of each other's state and governance (just like Rahul Gandhi made that campaign against Modi or Modi against Mamta). Not everything needs to completely true there it's mostly over exaggeration
Almost all of MBh convos were done under duress. There were few normal convos. If we can discount one due to hyperbole of emotional stress, we have to discount pretty much everything else.
Karna ordered Panchali assaulted because he was afraid they would lose.
Yudhishtira staked Panchali out of fear of losing.
Duryodhan asked Panchali for a lap dance out of desperation.
Everyone's sin gets washed away.
They were all sane adults and responsible for what they said, did, and controlled.
Shalya didn't offer an opinion. He gave a factual statement which could easily be denied. He didn't say you are a terrible king. He said you rule Anga where trafficking of women and children goes on.
Karna offered opinion and insulted the lower castes every which way possible. I don't believe this is something a person who has suffered (not according to Vyasa) caste insults all his life would do even under duress. He was just a loathsome hman.
