Forget the teenage lunatics, even we are unaware of many facts regarding Krishna's life. I was shocked to learn many truths thanks to our very knowledgeable ladies. π
Agreed. My point was not towards only this serial, but all mytho shows.

Do the makers hate Krishna?
Seriously, my sympathies are not exactly with Samba at this time, but he seems to have justification for what he does. Also, Jambavati.
Daddy is roaming around with a woman married to someone else, and her word becomes law even in Jambavati's household. To the point that Samba gets no positive attention from Krishna even when he is a mere child. Things escalate, and instead of examining what is going wrong, all blame is heaped on Samba who gets cursed with what is an incurable disease at the time. Any woman in Jambavati's position would've done more than curse.
Why didn't they simply show the actual story? Samba in Krishna texts is a privileged, entitled brat all by himself, not because of Radha. He rapes Lakshmana. Krishna refuses to save him from Kauravas in spite of Jambavati begging. Balram saves Samba. Then, Samba proceeds to sleep with Krishna's wives and gets cursed. Eventually, he mocks the rishis until he gets his entire clan cursed.
(all this is still keeping with the supernatural; I don't believe Swastik will bother looking for rational explanations)
Presented as is, the story would've actually shown why Samba was a villain. Here, in spite of the production house's efforts, Radha and Krishna are coming across as immensely dislikable characters.
Argh. What am I saying? There was no Radha! Swastik's efforts to take Jayadeva's fan fiction and inject her into the entire Krishna story has turned the tale into an Ekta Kapoor soap opera.
Exactly!! Why coukd not the makers stick to the story when its completely possible and the right thing to do!!!! Unnecessarily pulling radha in everything is so illogical. I stopped watching just after draupadi swayamvar. How the heavens makers think that folks are liking this s***?????

So Krishna either survived one of the poxes, or Kamsa deliberately sent a wet nurse with pox to Krishna. She died; the baby survived.
Krishna deffo had some kind of pox because there were marks on his hands and feet. Small pox virus and chicken pox can cause scars, but they're not limited to hands and feet. I'd say cow pox caused it or hand/foot/mouth disease, neither of which is fatal.
Perhaps Kamsa couldn't tell the diff between small pox and the nonfatal cowpox and sent a milkmaid with cowpox.
As to how Putana died... I bet parents were not happy to see a woman with pox feeding their son. Given the infection, they wouldn't have bothered to imprison her. She would've been straightaway killed.
No matter how it came about, Putana was actually childhood disease.

So true Dear, humans have the natural tendency of painting the nemesis of their favourite hero/heroin in absolute villainy.
What are your views on the technology used in kurukshetra war ? Was it really nuclear warfare ?
Salt petre I think. Arthashastra mentions it as a weapon of war. Steel was also starting around the time - lightweight weapons which were sharper.

Thanks dear. That clears it. I don't think it would have been a wet nurse, probably it was some pox that infant kanha got. Parents are very attentive for infants and it wouldn't have been possible for that girl to reach the infant. Plus children don't start taking feeds from outsiders easily.
In North India we call that family of deseases as Maata. Like a person affected with chicken pox will be said isko majhti maati aayi hai, measles as chhoti maata aayi hai. Households take it like some big pooja in house. No non veg prepared (I remember in my college hostel once 2 girls got it and the college ordered mess to cancel any non veg preparation)
Probably that maata n feeding thing came from this tradition itself
I think Krishnasur is a different person not the same as the Krishna of Mahabharat.
Rig Ved is a very old text, as per my study the RigVedic books were completely finalized by the time of Mahabharat this Krishna couldn't have been added into the Vedic texts.
On the contrary I think some characteristics of Krishnasur like his 16000 wives and his stay over a naag got added into Krishna of Mahabharat era to give him more divine and great attitude
Vyasa has left info for reader to interpret. You can take it as magical, or you can take it as metaphor.
The ONLY info I haven't been able to find is Panchali's origins.
Yes, I'm sure she was an Angirasa. Also sure Vyasa meant for her to be some kind of avatar. A 3rd thing I'm sure of is she was married before (Maudgalya) and therefore was probably older than usual at her swayamvara. Beautiful enough to pass off younger, though.
I'm almost sure she knew Krishna before swayamvara.
But that's it for any certainty on my part. The rest is extrapolation.
Anything else which is questionable, Vyasa has clues in other parts. Not her origins. Krishna, Yadavas, Arjuna, Yudhishtira, anyone of them... there are answers in text.
