Anyway, have you guys watched the 2019 show Miracle workers ? My God !!! I came across it yesterday and binge watched. The God there is a cynical, nihilistic, indifferent, sociopathic hobo (yet cute and deserves sympathy at times), being funny all the way ( portrayed by Steve Buscemi ).

But still I didn't hate him or the show rather loved it and one of the reasons behind that is HE WASN'T CAMOUFLAGED AS A VIRTUE TEACHER OR LOVE GUIDE. He was what he was. This is what I had been talking about ----that my religious belief system never had anything to do with my not liking the recent tracks of RK. I am all up for creative liberty, doesn't matter how much of liberty you are taking until you are not wrapping yourself up with spiritual/ divine justification. If you have to act humane or raw, freaking own it. Don't whitewash it ! That's all I had wanted from RK. But they had to become love professor, didn't they !?

Even the angels were all grey and even psychopathic at times in that show (miracle worker) but I still stand by the same point. That's how they were being portrayed. We saw exactly what the writers were showing and we agreed with them. Where we would feel like an angel/God himself is wrong, the writer agrees and that's the difference with RK. Here, according to the showmakers, Krishna is entirely white and Ayan is grey whereas we can clearly see that Krishna is grey (mostly black these days) and Ayan is entirely black.

If you replace Radha with a flower vase (or currently a jewellery display board) and Balram dau with a blue table lamp, there won't be much difference in the storyline. Not to mention that the character development graph is higher towards the negative coordinates. So God or not I don't care. I just don't like stories where the writer is being pretentious. A story should have a soul----white black grey vibgyor I don't care, but a soul nevertheless !!!!! AND THIS ONE DOESN'T !!!!!!! THIS IS A ZOMBIE. ALL BODY - NO SOUL - EATS BRAINS - PERIOD.

Oh god .. i just checked the trailer of miracle workers.... and its so creatively awesome... gonna watch it right now...😎

Last paragraph.. very well said.. thats exactly what the show is.. only krishn has some level of dimension in his character... others have zero character graph.. even if makers put their statues .. put dialouges with the help of vfx.. it would make no difference... radhakrishn parents are shown literally statues 😔

Radha's father is an annoying talking doll who is programmed with only 2 sentences containing the word 'promise'. The first sentence ruined the first half of the show when he was in the receiving end of a promise and the second sentence is still showing its magic while this time he is in the giving end. You are right about the rest.

Goddess Laxmi washing sinner Ayan's feet and justified by saying it is her dharm!

Radha may not know her godly status, but divinity will never vanish like this, that too in the presence of Krishna, who knows who she is! Witnessed internal contradictions there in that Guru Pooja! On one hand, Krishna is trying to teach Radha that who she is and what is their actual relationship, and on the other, he allowed her to surrender her divinity to her Patidev Ayan the perennial sinner! It is difficult to understand what they wanted to say through this Guru Pooja!!!

But Krishna washing Radha's feet and the expressions on the faces of both actors was a scene to watch, rarely we got a chance to see such a good scene in this serial.

Meenaxi I am a fan of your writing especially about Mythology...I kept away from watching Mytho on tv these days for these very reason and yesterday just thought of giving it a try especially since it is Janmashtami and wanted to have the feel of the festival on TV too being away from Home..but many scenes left me thinking...is this some daily soap or really happened with our favourite Radha and Krishna..just wanted to check the views and here saw your post.

Really sad that not one maker is able to give us something real away from the TRP greed..especially with our God stories they should not take liberty...i was watching Yeh Un Dinon ke Baat Hai before this and loved it for it's realistic approach ..especially for first 1 year of the show..sadly that too got bitten by the TRP bug though loved it since it was different from the nonsense dished out these days.

Though I loved whatever I saw of DKDM but not sure if they took liberties in that too.

They did in that too but after Parvati's marriage. But the creative imaginations was digestible to some extent in that show. here it is like you are watching a different Radha at all times :) :)

Hey Lata,

How are you. 😊

After seeing current lot of Mytho shows, DKDM seems to be so much better. Those were good days, where many people shared their views because the content was much better. In spite of added interpretations, we could connect to many tracks.

Then the trend of serving absoulte different interpretations in order to stand out started with SKR, RK etc. It became difficult to accept such versions. Thats why current Mytho forums are hardly active.

They could have balanced with Puran's popular version & their own angle. But what we get now is rarely accepted.

Thanks for liking whatever immature content I wrote during good old days of DKDM. I really miss those days.

I am good Meenaxi...hope you are doing good too...your write ups during DKDM days were far from immature...infact used to look forward to yours and I think Janaki or someone during those days for your indepth knowledge about the Puranas....sad that we cannot get such shows and discussions too these days. Actually that is the very reason i keep away from IF these days as people start getting agitated if we talk about the characters and the wayward stories and they immediately connect it to the actors playing that character. Such immaturity stems up from the immature content they watch on TV. Sad really...infact when i used to check some of the discussions in the Paki forums while watching Zindagi Gulzar Hain was in awe of their writing and sensibility and intelligence and it is a pity that we are left to discuss only trashy shows. Felt atleast RadhaKrishna would be different as they could not mess up with real story that would hurt our sentiments but feel that we are asking for and expecting too much from our TV shows.

Many people expressed their views against this show! Which is depicting a story far beyond our imagination! I strongly feel that this serial is not about our Divine romantic couple Radha Krishna,it is a serial written for gaining TRPs , not the original love saga of our Radha Krishna! In the spiritual world, Krishna came to earth to settle peace but this show has erased all that spiritual concept and showing every action Of Krishna related only to Radha!

Killing Putana, did he really flew off to Barsana just to open Radha's eyes? They have shown Radha, who was herself the goddess of love, with flaws by giving the reason that she was born as a human. Then, Krishna, Balarama was also born as a human, they didn't have any flaws.!! In fact Nand, Yashoda would not have so many flaws, but why only Radha has all those Badhas?!!

Krishna was supreme God himself and he would never do adharma. But in this show, he has done things which are actually far from Dharma!

He did not care that his father and Vrishbhan, in fact, both the villages were breaking up with each other, he just wanted that Radha gets liberated from fear!

Kalia Mardana.I can't believe that they have shown that no one except Radha remembers it. Krishna just vanished the memory of Kalia mardana from all the people!!----this was the point I started disliking this serial.

And there were many people who had flaws in those two villages, then why Krishna only liberated Radha from flaws. This is partiality!!

All the Asuras were harming all the villagers but Krishna did something only when Radha was in danger. This is too much partiality. When Vrishbhan was taken away by Aghasura, he did not do anything!

Also, adharma was done when the serial showed 10 days of Mela which was organized to earn money to repay those saahukars. No problem but saahukars[ money lenders] were the wise men. They helped Radha when she needed to pay loan to Kansa. But ultimately what happened?? They got killed in the hands of Kansa. Really? Is this not adharma?? What did Krishna do? Nothing. This is the biggest problem. It is not easy to make a story which is not violating dharma.

Ayan and jatila.. the most dreaded humans to harass Radha in this serial, and literally Ayan brought all the trouble to Barsana. He made Vrishbhan fell from a height. he even tried to kill the villagers by poisoning the food grains.. You know even after all this and after all what he did.. If he got Radha then this would be the worst show in mythological serials!! I am sorry to say this!

They have wrongly presented the character of Krishna, Balarama and also lord Shiva. I thought Shiva was Adi yogi. His personality was not making jokes. But here he is shown as making jokes!

The story of Radhakrishna was simple. Krishna loved Radha.. But at the age of eleven, Kansa called Krishna and Balrama to Mathura, so he needs to left. And he did not come back. So Radha and Ayan got married.. and later Ayan started spending time in front of the statue of Maa Kali! Simple. No extra role of Ayan! Why they made him the hero of this serial and at times even made Krishna a side character in their obsessive love for Ayan!!

I am not against any actor who plays the roles..Sumedh, Basant, Mallika are fabulous. But I am saying against the storyline and characterization of the main characters!! Dealing with such a well established and the well-known story is not easy for any creative team, but making it such a mockery of a great Mythological story ... it is difficult to accept by any normal viewer. As Minakshi earlier said, if we start believing that -- these are only fictional characters, not the Divine lovers, then we will be at peace!

Thank you Lata, for sharing your views which sounds similar to many members' of this forum.🤗

Lata, thanks for your kind thoughts.

The best part about initial period of DKDM was, they would just present a track & we would go on R & A journey to find out what does it actually mean. There was an interesting element of mystery in the story. Not only Purans but other scriptures's subjects were added too eg. Kundalini, Chakras etc. It appealed to both class & mass. Only towards the end it got boring when they started direct preaching.

Lets hope some day they'll improve standard of Mytho shows & some one would actually represent a unique version, sticking to the popular stories without distorting image of representatives of our faith.

i so concur with what you said Lata. And those two shows (Zindagi Gulzar hai) and (Humsafar) are a class in itself and I watch it again now and then. Such depth of emotions and layers in characterization as per situations and very much relatable. Sad that Indian shows are not able to think of such shows and telecast it!! The whole industry is just after trp and they will do what ever possible to garner that ... not leaving mytho too and I will be bold and brave today to say that we audience are largely at fault to accept their crap from Day 1 :) :)
