Krishna's Kindness towards villains----

The Krishna stories are unique for their great compassion for the villains. Kamsa, Jarasandha and Duryodhana are the three main villains in Krishna lore. All three are said to have traumatic childhoods: Kamsa is a child of rape who is rejected by his mother at birth. Jarasandha is born malformed at birth; his father’s two queens each give birth to half his body, and the two halves are then fused together by the ogress called Jara. Duryodhana’s mother is blindfolded in solidarity with his blind father, so he is unseen by his parents all his life!!

This explains that people perceived to be evil often have been wronged, which makes them so insecure that they become insensitive and dehumanized!

No, not supporting their evilness and misdeeds, but just looking at them with pity for their spoiled childhood.

Of course, according to his childhood, we know how to become a person at his adult age.

These are called formative years. If it is badly made then the person is finished. Then it is up to this person to make an effort and break the chains.

I must admit that I always wondered why Krishna forgave the asore, but he is of a humble nature it is part of his personality.

Krishna is an understanding God, he knows the human weaknesses, and very much aware of the gullible nature of humans for temptations! Every time he worked on corrective measures before punishing, he considered punishment as the ultimate deed, only did in unavoidable circumstances. A compassionate God our Krishna is!😊

Devshayani Ekadashi Vrat Katha

Devshayani Ekadashi - the Ekadashi that falls on the eleventh day of the month - is seen as one of the most auspicious Ekadashis of the year. As we know, every Ekadashi is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. But this Ekadashi holds more significance because it is believed that Lord Vishnu goes to sleep on this day and that too for a period of 4 months. This period is known as Chatur Masa. Devshayani is a Sanskrit word meaning, "when god sleeps" and, similarly, Chatur Masa means a period of 4 months.

Devshayani Ekadashi is observed as a fasting day. Though the fast is observed as other Ekadashi fasts, the only difference is that on this day, the idol of Lord Vishnu is made to sleep in a white bedding. As of other rituals, the devotees should get up early, take bath during the Brahma Muhurta time.Prayers are offered before the idol of Lord Vishnu. After offering dhoop and deep to the Lord, the devotees should narrate the story of Devshayani Ekadashi.

Once Dharma Raj Yudhishtir asked Lord Krishna what is the significance and the procedure to perform Devshayani Ekadashi, to which Lord Krishna replied, "Hey Yudhishtir, let me explain to you the story which Lord Brahma had narrated to Narad Muni."

He had told Narad Muni that those who observe this fast get all the past sins, which they have committed by mistake, washed away. It is a must for everyone to observe this fast. Performing puja and observing a fast on this day pleases Lord Vishnu. It is also known as the Vishnu Shayani Ekadashi day, or the Harishayani Ekadashi, or the Ashadha Ekadashi. There goes a mythological story behind this, which is as follows.

There was a king by the name Madhanta, who was a righteous man. A generous king, he used to serve the people of his kingdom just as a father would look after his child. The kingdom was rich and prosperous.Once it so happened that there was no rainfall for three years. This lead to a famine in the kingdom and, gradually, all the stocks of the food grains vanished. The common men in the kingdom became poor as well as fell a victim to starvation. As the king came to know about this, through his men, he consoled the people and said that soon a remedy would be found for this. Along with some men, the king went towards a forest. In the forest, he headed towards the cottages where the sages lived.Among the sages, was a sage named Angira Rishi. He bowed down before the sages. And then explained the whole story before Angira Rishi. The king said he knew that the kingdom suffered because of the misdeeds of the king himself.

However, as he had been a righteous man, he said that his kingdom should not have suffered from famine. Upon which the sage said that the Satyuga is the best of all the Yugas that mankind is divided into. Only the Brahmins can read the Vedas, in this Yuga; people worship Lord Brahma. However, the sage went on to say that in his kingdom, there was a Shudra who'd been worshipping Lord Vishnu without properly cleansing himself. In Satyuga, only the Brahmins could perform Vishnu worship. The sage said that the sufferings of the people will be removed only when that Shudra stopped worshipping Lord Vishnu, to which the Lord himself replied that he had no right to stop a man from the almighty. Everybody can offer prayers to the one who is the father of all. Now, the king asked for another remedy. The sage this time advised the king to observe the fast of Ashadha Ekadashi, which falls on the eleventh day of the Shukla Paksha. This fast is the giver of all the powers and achievements, as well as it cleanses the sins of the devotees.

He asked the king along with his kingmen, servants as well as the ministers to observe this Ekadashi. The king agreed to this and thanked the sage. As he returned, he declared that the whole kingdom must perform the Ashadha Ekadashi fast. Because of the devotion of the whole kingdom, Lord Vishnu was pleased, and soon the plight of the people vanished.

As per Bhagvatam, tenth skanda, CH 34 the story goes as this --

Saving of Nanda and Slaying of Sankhachuda ;

Once the Gopas eagerly proceeded to Ambikavan on a pilgrimage, hitching their oxen to the carts. Having bathed in the river Saraswati, they worshipped the powerful Lord Siva and the Goddess Ambika. Saying ‘Let all Gods be pleased', they gave away cow's sweet tasting food and gold to Brahmans. Nanda, Sunanda and several other Gopas stayed on fasting and subsisting on water for that night on the banks of the river. At that time by chance a great snake which is very hungry came to that area and slithered up to Nanda and started swallowing him. Seized by the snake, Nanda shouted, “Krishna, Krishna a large snake is swallowing me. Please protect me ‘. Hearing that cry for protection, Krishna became awake immediately and saw Gopas beating the snake with torches. The snake did not release Nanda although he was being torched. With the intent of fighting the snake, Krishna rushed to the spot and touched the snake with his foot.

With the touch of Krishna's foot, the snake gave up its form and in its place stood a Vidyadhara fully resplendent in his celestial glory. As the celestial Vidhyadhara was paying his obeisance, the Lord asked him,” who are you, shining with wonderful beauty and why were you made to accept this terrible form of a snake?”

Vidhyadhara replied, “Oh Lord, I am a Vidhyadhara by name Sudarshan. I was wandering within the skies with my rich and wonderful form. Overly conceited by my status, I laughed at the sages of Angiras lineage. Those who were laughed at made me assume this form because of my sinful action. But O Lord they have also shown mercy on me saying that my sinful actions will be destroyed by touch of the Lotus feet of Lord Vishnu. Oh Lord by the touch of your feet I am now freed from the curse. I know you are the Lord Vishnu, the creator and the destroyer and the one who maintains it too! Now that I am freed from the curse, please give me permission to return to my abode ‘. Oh Lord. I was freed from the Brahmans curse as soon as I saw you. Any one chanting your name purifies him, and even those hearing also get purified. Then what to speak of those whom you touch? I have surrendered to you, Oh Lord please order me.' Thus taking permission of Lord Krishna and cicumbulating him three times, Sudarshan left.

The inhabitants of Vraja were amazed at the power of Lord Krishna. They then completed the worship of the Lord Shiva returned to Vraja, again singing the glories of Krishna.

Once Govinda along with Balaram whose exploits are also well known played in the night along with all the Gopis of Vraja... Krishna and Balaram were wearing garlands of flowers and spotless clothes. Their glories were being sung charmingly by the women folk. The full moon rose along with all stars as though to honor them and the breeze the carried the intoxicating fragrance of Lotuses. Krishna and Balaram too sang, bringing happiness to the ears of all beings. The Gopis were fully absorbed in that music even to the extent of forgetting their appearances. At that time a servant of the treasures of the Gods, a Yaksha by the name Sankhachuda came there. Even as Krishna and Balaram were looking on, Sankhachuda drove the assembly of the Gopis who were crying out for help, towards north without fear. Hearing the cries and seeing their devotees being seized by Sankhachuda, the two brothers, Rama and Krishna, ran after the thief. Exhorting their devotees not to fear, they took up the logs of a Sala tree as they pursued the Yaksha. Sankhachuda seeing them running after him like the twin gods of Time and Death left the Gopis and continued to run. While Balaram took care of the released Gopis, Lord Krishna pursued him wherever he went. Finally Lord Krishna caught up with him and killed the Sankhachuda with his fist blow .Removing the crest jewel, Krishna gave that to Balaram as the Gopis watched with great satisfaction.

Radha Ki Krishna!!---Part 1

Radha is the only person who loved and lived for Krishna, a selfless love, no duality. She is the only person who loved and trusted Krishna than any person in this world. There were no precincts in their love. No one can ever love Krishna like Radha. She breathed, loved and lived for Krishna. Of all the Gopis, she was the only one who stole Krishna’s heart. To him, she was the reason for happiness and beauty. And to her, he was her world and her meaning of life. Such was their love and faith.

Radha and Krishna used to meet on the banks of River Yamuna every evening with friends and spend their joyous time in dancing, playing music and singing. While having fun, Radha and Krishna will elope from the crowd and spend their private time in the deep forest, at times even till the moon goes to sleep!! They both forget time, family, friends and even the whole world when they are together!

Such was their love for each other, filled with love, trust, faith and devotion. No one knows how much Radha loves Krishna than him. Same way, Radha understands and feels Krishna’s love for her than anyone. One day, though Krishna knows how much Radha loves him, he tried to play a prank on Radha. He knows nothing can hurt Radha more than his absence. So he did not visit Radha for few days. Radha also knows that Krishna wouldn’t be able to bear her absence. She understood that it’s all Krishna’s leela. But though she knows the reason, she missed him so much that she got sick and weak day by day!

Days went on and Radha will wait in their private place but he would never come. There were nights where she slept on the banks of the river itself. Even the flowers that blossomed in their private place dried off seeing her pain. Days went and even the flowers stopped blossoming. She was not able to sleep and eat. She forgot daylight and moonlight. To her it was always dark around her as her source of light was only Krishna’s eyes. She was unable to find happiness in her life without seeing Krishna’s face, without his touch and without hearing his voice. She even became slimmer. She lost complete interest in all that she does. She never responded to anyone. To her, it was as if like her not seeing him endangered her very core of survival. Though Krishna knew it all, he still did not come to visit her. -----
