Hey Guys,
I want to ask what is fear?

Sometimes fear is good. We fear that our hands will get burned in flames. So, we keep our distance. Those are survival instincts.

But about the fear which makes us Nishkriya? What about the ones which stops us from moving ahead? What about the ones that stops us from freedom?

How many times have we thought about those 'Char log' ? These unnamed, unknown people have such hold on us! Instead of listening our inner voice, instead of believing in ourselves with conviction, we are scared of people whom we do not even know.

I don't know how many of you are 90s kids. I grew up in the 90s. Did you know wearing jeans was such a big deal then? If some girl wore any western clothes, no matter that she was fully covered, she was pointed at, talked about etc. If she talked to a boy, then she was done for! But now it is not such a big deal as it was before. I am not saying there are no problems now. But it is definitely less compared to the old days. Some girl must have dared to go against the flow in the 90s.

Forget about clothes. Do we know how many women lost their lives and limbs, so that other women can get to vote. A basic human right to vote was not granted to women. And this I am talking about 20th century, some 100 years back. Those women dared to go against the flow.

They were all Radha.

Here we have a sheltered daughter. She grew up in a rigid society with rules and regulations about her role in the world. She has to follow every path she is shown. The moment her father felt threatened because of her freedom of expression (In the form of Sudevi, Vrijbhan fears about his own daughter's 'rebellion') he jailed her with emotions and promises. Radha has freedom as long she follows a certain rules. She cannot think or feel for herself.

This is what she has to rise against. Only now she will slowly realize that she was free as long as she was within the four walls of expectations, rules, regulations, and cultures. She was never truly free. She never was supposed to have any opinions, any feelings, any attachments, apart from what her father says. And Krishna would become the means through which she will grab her freedom.

Love
Kshithi

Fear is a powerful and primitive human emotion. It alerts us to the presence of danger and it was critical in keeping us alive. Fear can be divided into two responses, biochemical and emotional. The biochemical response is universal, while the emotional response is highly individual.
First, you talked about the biochemical response, the physical reaction to the fear --a natural emotion to the mankind as a whole, and in certain cases the highly personal one , but in general, it is a survival mechanism, i.e, the" fight or flight" response in which our body prepares itself to either enter into combat or run away. This biochemical reaction is likely an evolutionary development. It's an automatic response that is crucial to our survival, to Radha's survival! She observed his Maayajaal for some time , feared to encounter , tried to ran away from Krishna , in that process ran towards Ayan , for her he was a safe and secure person, but after realising a few flaws in Ayan , slowly the wisdom awakens, though not distanced herself from Ayan , but gained confidence to look at Krishna , tried her best to understand his motives and aims , in that process, lost that fear somewhere [ thank God !!!] and now she entered in to combat mode , gained confidence, comfortable now to deal with Krishna in a relaxed mood , that is why the teasing and mocking him with a girlish playfulness, a highly personalised emotional response from a sheltered daughter as you precisely said .
Repeated exposure to similar situations leads to familiarity. This greatly reduces both the fear and the resulting caution, then the elation for regaining her confidence, leading any young girl to seek out ever new and bigger thrills!! That is what is happening to Radha now , she wanted to prevent Krishna from participating in the games , so that, she will feel happy by winning over him , for outsmart him!! Now her mind is flooding with ideas and heart is attracted towards Krishna , moving slowly towards that resultant love > Freedom for Radha from the shackles of the society , from her father's desire to keep her under his control , --here your phrase I love most --'he jailed her with emotions and promises ' 👏 pure literary bliss to read such well-meant expressions!
A well- written post Kshithi .🤗

Truly, even in today's society, overprotective love often triggers unrecognized fear in the minds of its recipients, and makes them later regret their actions under the effects of the same.

Growing up in a kind-of-conservative family even I've judged people by their clothes until a very recent time when I finally got the hang of what was wrong with the world in general. :S

Thanks a lot Madhuri. 😳🤗

And you have explained everything so beautifully.
The fear of unknown is something that exists in mankind. And that is the reason for so many conflicts between any two different factions of the society. The only way to combat this fear is to know that thing which you are being scared of. It could be a person, a situation, a change in your life. Familiarize with the new things. That is what Radha is undergoing.

You have explained this so nicely. Loved reading it.

Exactly!!!! You nailed the point on its head! 😃

In all the old movies and serials, all the vamps would wear western clothes and all the heroins would wear Indian clothes. On our young minds the impression was that the women who wear western cloths are bad! It took growing up physically and emotionally to change my way of thinking.

@kshiti I am a 90's kid. I know what it is to wear a jeans. When I did my B-tech I had to wear jeans for lab. U know the entire drivers in the auto rickshaw stand will stare at u as u walk to the bus stop to catch bus. First I was intimidated and will ask my uncle to drop me at bus stop the days I wear jeans. But slowly I learned to walk on my own overcoming fear. A girl is free only till she sees the world through a man's eyes. The moment she sees it through her eyes all the invisible chains come in. But then there are many girls who dared to see this world with their eyes and one of the things that narayan does to u is give u courage to stand on ur own and break those invisible chains. Actually my published fiction seven vows is set in 90's. Though it's a romantic thriller it deals with fear and those invisible chains and how love breaks them.

Wow...Please tell me about your book. I too am writing a book based on Mythology and want to publish it next year.

Anyways, agreed with everything you said. Us 90s kids have seen the world change in front of our eyes.
