Yesterday, when a man comes running into Vrishbhanu's house and announces about an asur attacking Barsana, everyone were genuinely concerned and worried. But I loved the way they showed the contrast between Rohini and Jatila. The scene was small but was very significant. I remember one of the KrishnaVaanis about swaarth and paramaarth, and this scene reflects that. When Balarama wants to go with Vrishbhanu and others to help Barsana, Rohini nods her head and encourages him to go, showing hers is not swaarth. She knows her son is capable enough to fight with the asur and she wants him to help Barsana not just help himself from the asur. Whereas, Jatila who wants to make Ayan 'the raaja of Barsana' is afraid of sending her son to help the same Barsana from a danger. Didn't she send him to Gurukul and made him learn the knowledge of weapons? From whatever I've watched, Ayan seems to have studied only the warfare and nothing else. No shaastras, or any Raajneeti, or at least how to use your brain. Everything needs to be instructed by Jatila for this boy. When the time comes to atleast use whatever he has learnt, this woman is forbidding him from going to fight. This shows how swaarthi she is.
Now, the sheer contrast between Balarama and Ayan. Balarama wanted to help Barsana's people, and his face and expressions suggested the same and reflected the same. Whereas, when Ayan forcibly left from Jatila's grip, I can see his superiority and ego. He wants to go and fight, but it's not to help the people, but to prove something, to show how much capable he is in physical fights, just like how interested he was to whip Bhairav when Vrishbhanu ordered him to do so.

Dakshaayani , you pointed it exactly. Ayan wants to showoff his power for good name whereas Balram wants to genuinely help others out of his own wish of generosity.
I loved the difference in the behaviour of Rohini. Rohini trusts in Balram's capabilities and thinks for the good of everyone but Jatila sent Ayan to learn shastragyan but still she doesn't trust his capabilities and keeping him to herself , tying him into her bond.

Reminds me of Vrishbhanu. But the difference between them is, Vrishbhanu is possessive towards Radha, and isn't plotting to harm anyone unlike Jatila. He isn't a typical villain, but a flawed character. Jatila is a pure filmy villain. 😆

Disclaimer: I'm talking about the characters of this show, and not about actual people, for I know, Vrishbhanu wouldn't have been like this and Jatila wouldn't have been a filmy villain at all, but an original one. 😆
