TOI Article RSSI to end in June

Producers Kinnari and Jay Mehta's Rab Se Sohna Isshq (RSSI) has been in the news of late for its impending 16-year-long time leap.

The cast of the show has undergone a change with Kanan Malhotra aka Daljeet leaving the show and Ashish Sharma playing his own son in the show.

Reportedly, along with Kanan, his girlfriend actress Ekta Kaul — the protagonist of the show — too wanted to quit the show but later told TOI she wouldn't do anything like that. Rumour had it that the actress wasn't too keen on playing mother to teenagers at such an early stage of her career. However, things seem to have worked out in her favour on its own, as we have been informed by reliable sources that the show is going off air in June. The actors have been informed of the same and in all likelihood will be replaced by Ekta Kapoor's historical show jodha akbar.

Says the source, "RSSI will breathe its last either on June 13 or June 20. Reason: Apart from its abysmal TRPs, the actors weren't too pleased to playing parents to grownup children. The back and forth business of convincing them have cost us dearly."

While Kinnari didn't revert to our text message, Ajay Bhalwankar, Content Head Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd, said they aren't sure yet.
