Chap 1:

Engrossed from the start!! 😃Took a while to ease into it. History goes over my head.😆Encountered a hiccup when I reached the arrival of the two men. Forgot the characters don't bear resemblance to the show characters. Gotta say you have a very good command over the language..both English and Urdu (The terms interspersed are Urdu right? 😆) And the writing is quite refined and dealt with minute precision too..makes it easier for the readers to visualize the scenario.

Yes old urdu terms. To bring authenticity...once I came across a beautiful historical novel where the author used the same technique to bring that period alive in the eyes of her readers. How people used to speak, what they ate, how they lived...everything was in minute details...Historic informations woven intermittently with the body of fictional romance. And I loved it at once. And the author was a Booker Prize winner 😆. Meri manna hai ki inspiration draw karni hai toh aisi writer se karo, nehi toh mutt karo !😆😉

Who is a Jaigirdar?What are parganas?

Ok, Pargana and Jaigirdari system were administrative terms of medieval period, prevalent both in Sultani period and Mughal era. Akbar's Minister Toder-Mal perfected them. The rulers divided their kingdoms into some parganas so that they could be ruled efficiently. Letz say it is like states in a country. although parganas were smaller in sizes. like 3/4 districts in a state put together would be the size of Pargana. and Jaigirdars were vassal lords who were awarded lands ( parganas)in return of their pledge to serve the ruler with arms and revenues .

Zada, hogaya naah ? ok, putting thing in easy terms, Parganas are like states, only smaller in size than an average Indian state of todays , and Jaigirdar is like a governer, officially the head of the state , working under President. Now, in India, today, Presidents and Governors are ornamental posts with no power at all, so u better take the example of USA president and State governors. 😆

Chap 2:

Why are they hurtling atones at the poor girl? Has the news of her supposed infamy reached the town already? 😲

Aah..so u r a walking talking encyclopedia..should have guessed before signing up for this? Should ask Mahira for a herbal remedy to slow down the burning of my brain cells.😆😆😆

Jaggery se pet barta hain?? 😲*longs for a pizza*😭

Nehi bharta, bilkul bhi nehi. but if u eat lumps of sugar with lots of water it would that illusion that u are full, and when goes away u r already asleep by then. poor people used to do that a lot in old times, this is still a chalu formula to stop hunger bouts in remote villages. A sad picture of rural india, people were and still are driven by poverty and desperation, play hide and seek with hunger with such tricks.

Ok..doubt cleared..so Latif & Mir weren't ghosts afterall.

Didn't understand this ''they prefer new comer, you know. They creep through holes, sing to his ears, and then lead him outdoor into nowhere.The mischievous ones of them, Spirits!''.

Ohh..poor girl..she had suffered at the hands of those monsters.It takes immense courage just to run away...

And I loved this chapter too!!😃

P.S:: What does Ruthba mean? Was referring to ur title.
now the last one !
Ruthba is what ...condition ,driving force...something like that.Itz the opening line of a song. the full line goes like this,
Ishq da Ruthba Ishq i jaane.

Kya tough question paper set kiya tha , by God !

The armed men pelted stones at them though these two men were jaigirdar's companions. This is really confusing !!
Mahira dreamt of her vicious khala and her son rather than those whispering spirits . The last part reveals the misery she lived.

''Vengeful claws grabbed her hair and dug their nails to her scalp, dragging her to the tiny windowless cellar room.''

I find these words harsh but they describe her khala's cruelty.

ya it pains the first days . u 're not allowed to eat things too hot nor too cold . And after every appointment u'll feel some pain. Don't worry it's difficult firstly but by the time u'll be accustomed to it and u'll be able to eat whatever u want . I had braces before.
