Chapter 12

Asad stood against the tree watching his wife dance in midst of all the colors. Her innocence reflected in her eyes as her lips were curved into a huge smile. He could see her eyes sparkle as she swayed to the music. She was in her own world. Zoya was estatic! She has never been so happy ever since she has been in India. She didn't even know what was the reason of her joy. She just felt her heart race thinking about the fact that Asad has come here for her. Someone tapped on her shoulder and Zoya turned back to see her brother-in-law. "Toh Bhabhi-jaan, after all Bhai aayi gaye," Ayaan teased. "Shut up Ayaan, tumare bhaijaan se bolo keh tum mujhe thang karahe ho," Zoya threatened. "Oh come on Bhabhi, main aapka ek lauta, pyaara devar hoon toh itna toh haq banta hai," Ayaan said. Zoya smiled, "You know mujhe yakeen nahi hota keh tum aur Asad bhai ho. I mean tum itna chill ho aur Mr. Khan," she explained. Ayaan chuckled. "Mujhe bhi toh yakeen nahi hota keh aapki aur bhai ki shaadi hogayi," he said. "Why?" Zoya asked. "I mean aap dono bhi toh kitne alag hai, bhai itne serious types aur aap mere jaise hi cool and fun types," Ayaan replied. "Kya karoon, shaadi karke phas gayi main," Zoya joked and they both laughed giving each other a high-5. Asad, who was watching all this, felt a burning sensation rise in his chest. Why did he care so much who she was talking to? And even if he did care, why was he upset? She was just talking to Ayaan, he reasoned. But he knew what a big flirt his brother was. Ayaan and Zoya stopped laughing seeing Asad walk up to them. "Ayaan, mujhe tumse baat karni hai. Chalo," Asad said and took his brother away. Zoya watched her husband drag his brother away. "Yeh Asad koh paata nahi achanak kya hojata hai? Ajeeb harkarte kyun karte rehate hai," she said to herself. Just then, Zoya saw Dilshad standing on the side. She ran up to her mother-in-law and pulled her into a hug. "Ammi, aaj main bahut khush hoon," Zoya declared. Dilshad smiled as they broke apart. "Aur tumari khushi ki waja Asad hai, haina?" she said, caressing her cheek. Zoya felt her cheeks turn crimson. She had no reply to Dilshad's words. If she couldn't answer her own questions, then what was she supposed to tell Dilshad? "Tum kuch na bhi bolo, main jaanti hoon," Dilshad said. "Ammi, aap bhi na. Main toh aapko bhulane aayi thi, chaliye na dance karte hai," Zoya invited. "Aree nahi beta, main yeh sabh nahi. Main toh yaha aayi bhi tumare liye thi," Dilshad told her. "I know, aap meri best Ammi hai," Zoya said, pulling her cheeks. "Theek hai dance mat kijiye, main jaakar aap kehliye mitai laati hoon. Woh toh aapko khana hi padega," Zoya told her and left, leaving a happy Dilshad behind.

Dilshad was enjoying watching all the kids dance. She was just clapping her hands and smiling when she heard someone call her name. She knew who it was, how could she ever forget his voice? That voice belonged to the man she loved once...and maybe still did. Dilshad started to walk away when she felt his hold on her arm. "Dilshad please, meri baat suno," she heard him plead. "Rashid, Allah keh waaste mere haath chodiye," Dilshad said. "Bas ek minute kehliye meri baat sunlo," Rashid requested. Dilshad turned towards him and quickly removed her hand from his. As much as she would love to keep her hand in his, she knew that this world didn't allow her to. "Dekhiye Rashid, Allah keh waaste mujhe yaha kohi tamasha nahi chahiye," she told him. Dilshad knew that if anyone saw them then they would taunt her only. She recalled the last time Shireen, Rashid's wife, had seen them together and made a mole out of a mouse. "Dilshad, itne saal hogaye lekin main. Aaj mauka mila hai toh mujhe tume rang laagane do," he said. Dilshad wanted to refuse but his lips didn't move. She looked at his pleading eyes and couldn't say no. Rashid smiled when she didn't refuse. He dipped his hand in the color and raised it towards her cheek. Before he could touch Dilshad's face, someone stopped him. Rashid turned to see his son glaring at him. "Aapki himmat kaisi huwi mere Ammi keh paas aane ki," he roared as he pushed Rashid away. "Asad," Dilshad said shocked. Rashid stumbled back but steadied himself. "Asad, beta...main toh...," he tried to speak when Asad interrupted. "Beta? Itne saal baad aapko bete ki yaad aagayi? Beez saal se toh aapko aapke biwi aur baccho koh ki yaad nahi aayi. Aur aaj aapki itni himmat!" he said angrily. "Kya tum apne Abu koh maaf nahi karsakthe?" Rashid asked sadly. "Maaf kijiye Janab lekin mere sir se baap ka saya bahut saal phele uth gaya hai, door rahiye mere ghar aur family se," Asad warned as he took Dilshad's hand in his and started walking away. Turning around, Asad saw his wife with tears streaming down her face. Zoya had gotten the desset that she has promised when she saw Asad reach there to stop Rashid from putting color on Dilshad. She had seen the entire scene unfold. She knew what Rashid had done all those years ago and understood why Asad hated his father so much. She didn't even realize that she was crying until she saw her husband face her. Zoya quickly wiped her tears and walked up to them. She just wrapped her arm around Dilshad who also had tears in her eyes. They all quietly left from there before the situation worsened.

After they reached home, Zoya saw Asad go into their room and slam the door shut. She saw that Dilshad was still sobbing. Zoya helped Dilshad up to her room and made her sit on the bed. "Ammi, please rohiye mat," she requested. "Paata nahi main kyun Rashid koh khabhi maana nahi kar paati. Aur Asad hamesha naraaz hojata hai," Dilshad cried. Zoya moved closer and pulled her in an embrace. "Ammi, please rohiye mat. Sabh theek hojayega, aap fikar mat kijiye," Zoya said. As they broke apart, Zoya poured some water for Dilshad and handed it to her. Just then, Zoya's phone rang dustrubing them. Zoya looked at the screen then at Dilshad, "Najma ka phone hai," she informed. "Usse kuch mat baatana," Dilshad said, worried. Zoya nodded and answered the phone. "Hello Najma," Zoya said. "Zoya, kaha hai aap sabh? Achanak chale gaye?" Najma asked. "Woh Najma...woh...Mr. Khan koh kuch kaam yaad aagaye toh issliye waapas aana paada," Zoya replied. "Mujhe baatana chahiye na...main bhi chalthi thi?" Najma said. "Woh actually Najma, maine tume doonda tha par tum nahi milli aur hume late horaha tha toh issliye," Zoya replied. "Ok, theek hai. Main aur Imran bhi nikal the hai," Najma stated. "Fine, main tumse baad mein baat karti hoon," Zoya told her and ended the call. She then looked at Dilshad, "Ammi, aap araam kijiye. Main Asad koh dekhe aati hoon," Zoya said. Dilshad just nodded and Zoya left from there. Walking down the stairs, Zoya was worried for Asad. "Paata nahi Mr. Khan kaise react karenge? Unne jab gussa aata hai toh woh toh gayal sher ki taara attack karte hai. Par jaana toh padega Zoya, ussi gayal sher koh tume marham laagana hai. Lekin, main unse bolungi kya? Just go Zoya, baad mein sooch leyna keh kya bologi," she told herself. As she went up to the door and was debating to open it. The door swung open and he walked out to dash into her. She slipped and fell back. His arm wrapped around her waist as her hands gripped onto his shirt. She could see his blood shot eyes which showed his pain and agony. She felt her heart break seeing him, she wanted to take his pain away. He saw something linger in her eyes. He didn't want sympathy...not from her, not from anyone. Asad helped her stand up and was about to leave. She held his arm, "Mr. Khan, aap..," Zoya said. "Mujhe office jaana hai, Allah hafiz," Asad told her as he removed his hand from hers and walked off, leaving an upset Zoya behind.

Zoya waited the whole day for him to return from work. She wanted to make sure he was alright. She even tried calling him but he didn't answer his phone. It was past midnight but he didn't come. Zoya was trying to keep herself awake by drinking coffee. Her heart was sinking with each passing second. Where was he? "Mr. Khan...aap ek baar phone karsakthe haina, mujhe itni fikar horahi hai. Lekin nahi! Kya unne thoda sa bhi ehsaas nahi hai keh main unn kehliye yaha pareshaan baiti hoon," she thought as tears spooled her orbs. She knew he was upset but how could he just ignore her like this? At that moment, Zoya saw the main door open and her husband walk in. She ran up to him, "Kya the aap Asad? Kabh se phone karahi hoon? Ek baar phone toh answer karsakthe the na? Main kitni dher se aapka wait karahi hoon," Zoya yelled. "Maine tume thodi na wait karne kehliye bola, soh jaana chahiye tha," Asad said. "Allah miyan...what's wrong with you? Main yaha aapki fikar kare baiti hoon aur aap hai keh," Zoya said, becoming angrier. "Kyun? Kyun karahi ho meri fikar? Mujhe kohi nahi chahiye!" He told her. Zoya looked at him hurt. "Kya kaha aapne?" she asked. "Mujhe kohi nahi chahiye! Main apne aapko samal saktha hoon," Asad stated. "You know what Mr. Khan, sahi bol rahe hai aap. Aapko toh kisiki parwa nahi hai. Aap kehliye kohi bhi subhe se intezaar karaha ho, chinta karkar pagal horaha hai, you don't care right? I am sorry keh meri wajase aapko takleef huwi. Aapko joh karna hai kariye, main aapse kuch nahi poochongi," she told him. Asad didn't why hearing her say that hurt him. He saw her walk away and felt something break inside him. He felt terrible for saying for what he did. He didn't mean to hurt her but he wasn't used to people, other than his mother and sister, caring for him. He has always been alone! He didn't know how to accept someone into his life, he didn't know how to let her in.

Zoya walked into the kitchen and started to plate his food for him. She warmed the food and placed it on the table. Zoya saw Asad follow her in. "Aapka dinner yeh raha, if you wish, khalijiye," she said angrily. As she started to walk away, Zoya felt him tug at her wrist. She tried to free herself but he wouldn't let go. "Chodiye mujhe," she demanded. "Tumne khana khaya?" Asad asked. "Mujhe bhook nahi hai," Zoya replied. "Tume aur bhook nahi hai, aisa toh ho nahi saktha," Asad teased. Zoya was surprised that he was trying to be funny at a time like this. "Aap kehna kya chathe hai keh main bahut khathi hoon?" she said. "Maine aisa kabh kaha? Aabh tum mere baton ka galat matlab nikaal rahi ho," he told her. "Asad, aap yeh kya bol rahe hai? Mujhe aapse behas nahi karni hai," Zoya stated. "Aur mujhe tumse naraaz nahi hona hai," he said. Zoya looked into his chocolate brown eyes. "Joh bhi bolna hai, theek se boliye. Mujhe kuch samaj nahi aaraha hai," Zoya said confused. "Mujhe aadat nahi hai kissi se sympathy leyne ki," Asad said honestly. "Sympathy? Oh...I am sorry. Mujhe nahi paata tha keh ek shohar, ek dost ki chinta karna sympathy bolte hai," Zoya said, punching his shoulder. "Ouch! Kya karahi ho Zoya?" Asad questioned, surprised at her attack. "Aur nahi toh kya Mr. Khan. Subhe se aapki fikar karke main pagal horahi ho aur aap hai keh mujhpar hi gussa karahe the," she said mad. "Sorry bolu toh chalega?" Asad said. "Nahi! Itna pareshaan karne keh baad sirf sorry se kaam nahi hoga," Zoya said, taking a seat on the stool near the counter. "Toh kya chathi ho tum?" he asked. "I don't know. Galti aapne ki hai toh aap hi soochiye," Zoya said. Asad took a seat next to her thinking of an idea to apologize to his wife. Minutes later, he got off the stool and walked up to her. Taking her hand in his, Asad pulled her up to stand. She looked at him confused. Going on his knees, Zoya saw her husband hold his ears. "I am sorry Zoya! Subhe joh hua uski waja se main bahut upset tha and I just needed some time. Main bhul gaya keh ghar par kohi mera wait karaha hai, I am really sorry," he sincerely said. "Agar tum chaho koh main utak baitak karonga," Asad said as he started to move up and down. Zoya felt her lips curve into a smile. He shared his feelings with her and that meant a lot. But, she didn't like him knealing in front of her. "Asad, please. Aap aise...mujhe accha nahi lagtha. Aapne sorry bol diya that itself means a lot to me," Zoya said, touching his shoulders and making him stand up. "Chaliye, dinner khate hai," she said with a smile. Asad was surprised that she had so easily forgiven him. He recalled how he used to call her selfish. Galat tha main, bahut galat, he thought looking at her. Later, they ate dinner together and went to bed.

The next morning, Zoya was glad that Asad was behaving normally with her. As he fixed his tie, she walked up to him. "Asad, mujhe aapse kuch bolna tha," Zoya said. "Ha, bolo," Asad said, wearing his coat. "Aap Ammi se baat karlijiye, woh kal bahut fikar karahi thi," she explained. Zoya saw him pause as he picked up his laptop to place it in the office bag. "Asad, it's hard for her also," Zoya added. He just nodded, took his bag, and walked out of the room. "Allah miyan, please sabh theek kardijiye," Zoya silently prayed as she followed her husband out. They both walked to the dining table and took a seat. Dilshad saw her son and was about to speak when Asad looked up at her. "Asad, kal main...," she started when Asad intervened. "Ammi, kal ki baat kal hi khatam hogayi hai. Aap uski fikar chodijiye, main theek hoon," he stated. Dilshad looked at Zoya unsurely but she nodded telling her everything was ok. Breakfast was a silent affair after which Asad left for work. The next few days passed by as usual. One afternoon, Zoya was folding laundry in her room when her phone rang. She didn't see the name as she dug her phone from the pile of clothes and quickly answered. "Hello Zoya," she heard the person on the other end speak. "Ha Asad, boliye," Zoya replied. "Woh actually...woh...," He paused. "Asad...boliye na. Kya hua?" she wondered. "Woh actually, aaj raat ek party hai. Mere business client ne invite kiya hai and he wanted that I bring my wife along," Asad said. "Oh I see! Toh aap mujhe issliye saath bhula rahe kyun ki aapke client chathe hai? Aap nahi chathe keh main aapke saath aao?" Zoya teased. "Nahi, mera matlab woh nahi tha," He replied. Zoya smiled. So, he wanted to take her with him, she thought. "Kya kaha aapne?" Zoya asked. "Main shaam koh saath baje tak aajaunga, aap ready rahiye," Asad said as ended the call. Zoya grinned to herself. "Mr. Khan na khabhi unki baat theek se nahi bol sakthe," she said as she went to help Dilshad in the kitchen for lunch.

As they were eating lunch, "Khala...hum aaj shaam wapaas jarahe hai," Tanveer said. "Aaj shaam aur tum hume abhi baata rahi ho?" Dilshad said surprised. Tanveer had tried her best to solve the issues at work but things were not resolving. She had lost Mr. Salim's contract already due to her carelessness. She couldn't afford to lose anymore. As much as she desired to stay in Khan villa and ruin Zoya's life, she also had to take care of her business. "Woh Khala humne achanak hi faisla kiya toh abhi baata rahe hai. Humne Jammy koh bhi subhe hi bola tha. Aapko baatane ka mauka nahi milla, hum bahar gaye the kuch kaam khatam karne," Tanveer explained. Zoya silently thanked God that Tanveer was leaving. "I am sorry Allah miyan keh main khush horhai hoon keh Tanveer yaha se jarahi hai. Lekin main kya karoon? Tanveer hamesha mere aur Asad keh beech jaan bhooj kar problems create karti hai. Mujhe nahi paata keh woh aisa kyun karti hai but mujhe usse acche wale feeling nahi aati hai. And the way she speaks to me is so mean," Zoya thought to herself. "Kya hua Zoya? Bahut khush hona tum keh main jarahi hoon?" Tanveer said to Zoya, pretending to joke. "Nahi Tanveer, tum aisa kyun bol rahi ho. Main toh bas aise hi sooch rahi thi," Zoya replied. "Apna khayal rakna beta aur theek se jaana," Dilshad said to Tanveer. "Jee Khala," Tanveer said with a smile. Right then, the house phone rang and Dilshad excused herself to answer it. "Khala keh saamne tum jhoot bol sakthi ho, main jaanti hoon keh tum mere jaane se bahut khush hogi," Tanveer stated. "Tume joh sooch na haina tum soocho, mujhe kohi farak nahi padtha," Zoya said as she gathered her plate and went into the kitchen. As Zoya was putting the dishes away, she heard something fall in the living room. Zoya ran into the hall to see Dilshad on the couch with the phone fallen to the floor, shattered. "Ammi...kya hua? Aap aise kyun baiti hai?" Zoya asked disturbed. "Rashid koh heart attack aaya hai," Dilshad uttered shocking Zoya. "Kya? Woh theek toh hai?" Zoya questioned. "Paata nahi! Zoya, chalo hum hospital chalte hai," Dilshad said. "Ha Ammi. Ek minute, main apna purse ley aati hoon," Zoya told her. Within seconds, she returned with her purse and phone and they left to the hospital.

Dilshad and Zoya rushed into the hospital and found Rashid's family in the waiting room. Ayaan saw the two ladies and walked up to them. "Ayaan, Rashid kaise hai? Woh theek toh haina?" Dilshad asked. "Doctor dekh rahe hai," he replied. "Allah!" Dilshad said tensed. "Ammi, aap fikar mat kariye. Sabh theek hojayega," Zoya comforted her. "Aap itni fikar kyun karahi hai? Yeh sabh aapke bete ki wajase horaha hai," someone yelled. Dilshad and Zoya turned to see Shireen, Rashid's wife. "Yeh aap kya bol rahe hai?" Dilshad said puzzled. "Ha! Aapke bete ne uss din joh bhi Rashid se kaha ussike wajase aaj Rashid ki yeh halat hai. Paata nahi aap aur aapka beta humara peecha kabh chodenge," Shireen accused. "Main tumari zindagi se bahut phele door ja chuki hoon. Mujhe tumse ya tumare ghar se kohi leyna dehna nahi hai. Hum yaha sirf Rashid kehliye aaye hai," Dilshad said. "Yeh accha hai aapka. Khud dard dehte hai aur khud khairat bhi poochne aagayi," Shireen taunted. "Bas! Dekhiye, yaha hum sirf Rashid uncle koh dekhne aaye hai. Par main Ammi ya Asad keh khilaf kuch nahi sunongi," Zoya firmly stated. "Tum logo koh yaha bhulaya kisne hai?" Shireen said angrily. "Ammi...maine bhulaya hai unne yaha," Ayaan intervened. "Yeh mat bhulo Shireen, Rashid mere bhi kuch lagthe hai. Mujhe unse milne ya unki fikar karne kehliye tumari ijazat nahi chahiye," Dilshad said. Shireen just huffed and walked away. "Ammi, aayiye yaha baitiye," Zoya said as she made Dilshad take a seat.

Hours passed as everyone waited to know about Rashid's health. Doctors came and went but no one gave them any answers. Zoya tried calling Asad many times but his phone was out of reach. "Paata nahi Asad ka phone kyun lagraha hai? Unne baataungi kaise keh hum hospital mein hai. Ghar phone karke dekhti hoon," she thought. Zoya stepped out of the waiting room and dialed home. The phone kept ringing but there was no answer. Zoya dialed again and someone picked up. "Hello...Asad?" Zoya asked. "Kya hua Zoya? Asad ki yaad aarahi hai?" someone replied. "Tanveer! Mere paas tumare bakwaas kehliye time nahi hai. Asad ghar aaye hai kya? Please unne phone doh," Zoya requested. "Jammy ghar nahi aaye hai," Tanveer told her and hung up. Asad returned from work and walked into his room to find his room empty. "Zoya...Zoya," he called out but was reponsded by silence. Asad walked out of the room and searched for his wife and his mother but couldn't find anyone. He was walking up the stairs when Asad saw Tanveer coming down. "Tanveer, ghar mein sabh kaha hai?" Asad questioned. "Aree Jammy, aagaye aap. Kaise hai?" she said, happy that she had found Asad alone at home. "I am fine but Zoya aur Ammi kaha hai?" Asad asked again. "Tume baataya nahi Zoya ne?" Tanveer said. "Kya baatana tha?" he said confused. "Woh kya haina tumare Abu koh heart attack aaye hai," Tanveer informed. Asad looked at her stunned. "Aur Zoya Ammi koh lekar hospital gayi hai," she stated. "Woh log hospital gaye hai?" Asad said in disbelief. "Ha Jammy! Ammi pareshaan thi na issliye Zoya unne waha lekar gayi hai. I am surprised keh usne tume bola bhi nahi," Tanveer said, pretending to be surprised. Asad was shocked that his father had fallen ill but he was hurt that Zoya and his mother had went to the hospital without telling him. "Jammy, I am sorry. Zoya koh aisa nahi karna chahiye. I mean tumari biwi hai woh, usse bolna chahiye tha tume keh woh Ammi koh lekar unne dekhne jarahi hai," Tanveer said, adding fuel to the fire. "Tume paata hai kyon se hospital gaye hai?" he questioned. "Mujhe nahi paata. Jammy, I am sorry. Par meri train ka time horaha hai, hume jaana padega. Allah-hafiz," she told him. Asad bid her goodbye and she left. As she was walking out the door, she heard glass splatter inside. Tanveer smiled to herself. "Zoya...tum na apni harkaton ki wajase mera kaam bahut asaan kardeti ho. Aabh tumari hi wajase tumari shaadi ka rishta toot jayega. Mujhe toh zyada meinat bhi nahi karni paadi," she thought evily as she walked out the Khan Villa.

In the hospital, the doctor told the family that Rashid was critical. He had to be kept under observation and some more tests needed to be done. "Allah, yeh sabh kya horaha hai?" Dilshad said as tears filled her eyes. "Ammi, sabh theek hojayega. Hum dua karte haina, aap rohiye mat," Zoya comforted. Dilshad walked up to the doctor, "mujhe Rashid se milna hai please," she said. "Dekhiye unki halat bahut serious hai. Abhi unse kohi bhi nahi milsaktha," the doctor told them. Dilshad quietly sobbed and Zoya pulled her in a hug. Time passed and Zoya convinced Dilshad to come home with her. She checked her phone and realized the battery had died. As they were driving back home, Zoya was worried about Asad. "Paata nahi Asad ghar aaye honge ya nahi. Mere stupid phone koh bhi abhi dead hona tha. It's ok Zoya...ghar jaake samja dena Asad koh," she told herself. Zoya looked over at Dilshad who looked devastated. She understood that Dilshad still loved Rashid, it was obvious! Circumstances might have separated them but it was apparent that Dilshad still had feelings for him. And from what happened on Holi, maybe Rashid also loved her. But, Rashid was married to Shireen and they had a family. Will Dilshad ever get her happiness, Zoya thought hopefully.

After returning home, Zoya looked for Asad but didn't find him anywhere. She warmed up some food from the afternoon and milk. Zoya fed Dilshad some food and put her to sleep. She tried calling Asad but there was no answer. Zoya even tried calling his office but there was no one there as well. She was starving but she wanted to wait for him. Asad, on the other hand, was searching the near by hospitals. Asad was troubled. He didn't care about his father but he wanted to know why his wife and mother were. He had called Zoya's and his mother's number many times but they both weren't responding. Finally, Asad decided to head back home to check. Walking in, he saw his wife sitting on the sofa. "Mr Khan, aap kaha rehagaye the. Aap jaante hai keh aapke...," Zoya said when he put his hand up telling her to stop. "Kaha thi tum?" he said. "Wohi toh main aapse bol rahi hoon, aapke Abu," she said when Asad interrupted. "Maine aapse bola tha keh uss insaan se mera kohi rishta nahi hai," Asad firmly stated. Zoya looked at him puzzled. "Par Asad, woh beemar hai. Unne aapki zaroorat hai," she tried to reason. "Maine kaha na mujhe uss insaan se kohi naata nahi hai. Aur kal se aap waha na hi jaaye toh behtar hoga," Asad told her as he walked inside. "Asad, main jaanti hoon keh aap unse naraaz hai. Lekin, doctor ne bola hai keh woh bahut serious hai. Unne ICU mein raka hai," Zoya said and they both walked inside the room. "I don't care!" Asad said. "Theek hai. Aap mat jayiye, yeh aapka faisla hai. But, aap Ammi se kaise nahi bol sakthe hai. Woh agar jaana chaye toh aap unne maana nahi karsakthe," she told him. "Aabh aap mujhe baatayengi keh main kya bol saktha hoon aur kya nahi," Asad said, getting angry. "Dekhiye Asad, mujhe aapse bolna tha keh aapke Abu beemar hai aur maine bol diya. Aur aap waha nahi jaana chatha yeh aapka faisla hai. Lekin, aap Ammi koh thodi bol sakthe keh woh unke shohar se nahi mille," Zoya voiced her opinion. Asad felt his blood rage. How dare she? That man wasn't his father and he wasn't fit to be a husband. The day Rashid ditched his mother and left her with two kids, that day Asad had lost his father. He had lost his family, his home...everything. Asad moved forward and grabbed her shoulders, like a lion pounding on his prey. "Tum hoti kyon ho yeh sabh bolne wali? Main meri family kehliye kya decision leta hoon that is my decision. Tume inn sabh mein kuch bhi bolne ka kohi bhi haq nahi hai!" he yelled. Zoya looked at him shaken. How could he say something like this? Didn't she mean anything to him? Wasn't this family hers? She struggled to remove herself from his hold. He just held tighter as he moved closer. His nose touched hers as she shuddered. Her eyes were closed as tears rolled down her cheeks. His pain and anger was too deep for him to realize right from wrong. No one told Asad Ahmed Khan what to do. He made his own decisions. He always had and always will. Zoya put in all her effort and pushed him away. Asad was surprised at her sudden move and before he could realize, she ran into the bathroom and shut the door.

Zoya fell to the ground as her beautiful orbs filled painful pearls of water. "Aap hamesha mujhe itni takleef kyun dehte hai Mr. Khan. Maine aaj tak khabhi kissi ka bura nahi chaha, khabhi nahi. Lekin, har baar...har baar mujhe aap kuch na kuch aisa bolte hai joh mere dil koh chur chur kar dehta hai. Itne din se maine joh kosish ki, mujhe laaga keh main aapko jaan ne laagi hoon. But, I am wrong. Main aapko khabhi nahi samaj paungi. Ek pal lagtha hai keh main aapki biwi hoon, aur khabhi lagtha hai keh main aapki dost hoon. Par, aaj ek hi pal mein aapne mujhe paraya kardiya. I don't mean anything. Humari shaadi ek samjota hai aur shayad hamesha rahegi. Isse zyada shayad iss rishte se kuch expect karna galat hai," she thought. Asad stood frozen where she left him. "Yeh kya horaha hai mujhe? Mujhe iss baat se itna kyun farak padraha hai keh Zoya mujhe bina baataye waha gayi thi? Ya iss baat se itna dard kyun hota hai keh uski ansoo ki waja main hoon? Main na usse apne paas aane deh saktha hoon, na hi usse door reha paata hoon. Aur kyun main usse nafrat nahi kar paata! It feels like I am losing myself into something. Main Zoya koh lekar itna confused kyun hoon. Asad...samalo apne aapko koh," he yelled at himself. Time passed as she sat there sobbing quietly. She didn't understand anything anymore. Her thoughts were disturbed with a knock on the door. Zoya gathered herself and quickly washed her face. Walking out, she saw him waiting at the door. Asad felt his heart clench seeing her puffy, red orbs. Ignoring him, Zoya went to the closet to get her night dress. Grabbing her pajamas, she walked into the changing room. Minutes later, Zoya returned, walked to the bed and lay on her side. She could feel her husband's eyes follow her every step but she didn't want to look into them. Zoya was afraid that she would see something in them which she didn't have the courage to. "Paata nahi kal ki subhe meri zindagi mein kya naya mood aayega," she thought looking at the nightly sky.

Back with the next update! I know you won't be happy with Asad Zoya fighting but the next update will be a transition in Asad and Zoya's relationship. I don't know where I am taking this story next. I need to shape the story before the crux of the theme comes into play which should happen in a few chapters. But hey, Tanveer is gone 😆. Anyways, I hope you like the update, looking forward to your comments. 😊

May your year be filled with lots of happiness, good health, peace, and joy with your loved ones 😃
