Such good analysis. Well. I guess they are working TOWARDS higher TRP. And, to answer your question it is both. TRP reflects the show's performance. Chart shows a comparison between different shows. So. If QH is in position 5 because say, Show A has done badly, it does not mean QH is amazing. It means well, it was a BETTER alternative.

Trp Number Indicate Succes!!
If a show get More trp that mean more viewers!
And
low trp that mean low viewers!

If someone scored 45% in Final exam &get 3rd rank that is not impressive but if someone scored 80% and get 10th rank that is realy impresive coz therz tough atmosphere/competition!!

For ex..pehle agar koi film 100crores mark achieve karle to its like BIG ACHIEVEMENT.tough competition nahi tha jab but jaise jaise aik se aik hit films aati gayi competition tough hogaya 100cr to kya Even 3/4 crores look so small!!

I don't know whether i'll be making any sense or not ,here.I think the difference between TRP of a show and it's position on the chart is similar to the relationship between percentage & percentile.
The position on charts depends on competition and I think QH and other long running shows might get pushed down the list when new shows come up post Bigboss.
It's hard to conclude what causes the rise in TRP w.o knowing what exactly are people watching in QH, whether they are watching the cat fight,or the incest or the imminent escape of the female lead or the fake bedding scene of one brother engineered by another. There is no qualitative data on the tracks, IMO.

You have actually thrown in an interesting point here...there really is no data to indicate which aspect of a particular track people find interesting in a show or for that matter are people even really enjoying what they are watching currently or are just watching out of habit for sometime before they finally move on to another show...But for now, the only thing that we can see is that the tail end of the twin track is getting SIGNIFICANTLY better TRPs.
Lets see how things fare after the swap...and what the cvs have in store for us...

The show was really good June to September. I think that was the best time. Then of course swap track in October and no SAHIL. But at least the sisters met and they know the truth about their family etc. So something good came of it. But until we know exactly what has happened at the Nikah and who is this women behind the veil, we wont know what the outcome of this track will be?

Either ways, it is clear that a good focus on drama and concentration on the characters and relationships is needed to improve position, coz looks like other shows are doing well too? That's why despite higher TRP, QH is still not in the Top 10?

Exactly Mandy! But the imminent end of the track seems to be looking positive as TRP gain is quite significant compared to how it has fared for the rest of the track...And I won't be surprised if last weeks TRPs increase even more since with the promo and the precaps, they have been showing the final revelation of the twins to everyone and the come back of Sanam...(and Sahil one way or another???)

Bold: I hope they are working towards it too. I just hope we don't get further dumbing down of Ahil and instead get a come back...and also get Sahil whether married or not...
Acutally except for the latest TRPs even just by the numbers, Q2 has done much better during Sahil times if look at the TRP chart...the only outlier is the latest which is 6.5, but then this is the end of the twin/swap track so who is to say it is not in anticipation of the end of the track and what is in store at the end of this...
