A Second Chance
I once heard someone say that everyday is a second chance, I live everyday hoping to find that chance.
It is the person in the mirror that is to blame, I couldn't point a finger at anyone else no matter how hard I tried, it was definitely my own wrong doing that has dragged my life through such turmoil.
I let him go because I didn't believe him, I let him suffer because I failed to see the truth that he so desperately tried to show me. Blinded by my own arrogance and hate I lost the one person that I loved more than anything in the world. Loved...no, not loved but love.
It has been nearly two years and my eyes still search for him, my heart yearns to be with him, my body aches to hold him.
I, Zoya Farooqui the self proclaimed genius, Miss know it all am the biggest fool, a fool that tore apart everything I had, that shattered every dream I dreamt, and every dream was of him.
Up until that day the only word that described us was perfection, Asad and Zoya two people that came from two different worlds who had nothing in common apart from perhaps the colour of the blood we bled and yet we still managed to create a world that for us was nothing short of being in heaven.
Then how...after all we had been through all that we had built around us that I failed to believe him failed to see the evil that web of deceit that his so called best friend had started to weave around us.
Our love was as pure as the soul of a new born and I let her tarnish it with her malicious intentions. I will never forgive her for making me believe what was not true an I will never forgive myself for losing faith, in him and in us.
The thought of your partner, the one person who means everything to you cheating is enough to break you but I didn't think I saw. I saw what she wanted me to, what she knew I would believe, I saw him in her arms in her bed. I died a million deaths, my insides shattered over and over again and no matter what he said there was no believing.
But I know now what I did not then and that was his innocence. I live everyday hoping against hope, praying, pleading with my Lord to give me that one second chance, that one chance to make it ok, to say I am sorry, to say I love you and to be without you kills me time and time again.
I hurt you I know, but I hurt myself more. I know you are out there somewhere Asad, give me that one chance to be a better person than I was yesterday to bow down my head in shame and take back every word I screamed out in anger.
I will wait, until the end of time and beyond if that is what it takes. I love you Asad.
