Part 6 - "Double Trouble!"
Aahil went home to find that Rehan was out. "Wonder where he went?" thought Aahil. After all, his girlfriend had been with him most of the night? Maybe he went to see her after her movie? He was not going to hang around to find out. He went to his room, and had a shower and went to bed.
The next day Aahil woke up with thoughts of the past evening when he had seen Sanam again. He couldn't remember having that much fun in a long time. The verbal sparring with her had made him feel alive after days of feeling down. Maybe he should take Rehan's advice and ask Sanam to dump him and give HIM a chance instead? He shook his head at the very thought. Yes he had feelings for Sanam. Maybe even more than he had originally thought. He knew she was special. Maybe that was why Rehan had fallen for her too? Even he could see there was something about Sanam? However, no matter how he felt about Sanam, he would NEVER betray his brother. But all this was a moot point anyway, because by saying yes when Rehan asked her out, Sanam had shown that she didn't have feelings for him? Coz had she done, then would she so easily have agreed to date another guy?
"Come on Aahil...she doesn't even know you have a thing for her? So why on earth would she wait around for you? Rehan asked her out, she must have liked him, and said yes?" So did that mean, that if he had asked her first she may have given HIM a chance instead? Sometimes timing is everything? But why could he not shake the uneasy feeling he had that Sanam and Rehan just didn't seem to be the right combination? There was something wrong with this picture? The girl he had spent a couple of hours last night with, just didn't feel like the right girl for Rehan. She was always ready for a fight. She seemed to thrive on the verbal sparring just like he did. He knew Rehan was not the argumentative type? But didn't they say "opposites attract"? Maybe the laid back nature of Rehan was appealing to Sanam?
Either ways, some of the things she had said last night made it clear she didn't have a very high opinion of him? She thought he didn't go out without "arm candy" as she had called it? What had she said "Your reputation precedes you"? "I still think you were pompous and arrogant!" "I enjoyed the movie, despite the company?" How much clearer did she have to make it that she didn't like him? So just coz he asked her out, there was not much chance she would have said yes. She thinks he is just a rich arrogant player. Nothing more. Her opinion of him hurt. More than he wanted to admit. How can she think that she knew him after meeting him only a few times? If she spent more time with him, she will know that there was a lot more to him than what SHE thought he was like? If things between her and Rehan progressed further, how would she react when she found out who he was to Rehan? It was surprising to him that Rehan had not mentioned their connection to Sanam? Maybe he was waiting to disclose his family background? After all, you don't just blurt out that you are the brother of the Nawab of Bhopal? Maybe Rehan wanted to ease into that conversation? It didn't seem like Sanam had a clue he was Rehan's brother? Just as well, coz would she have been that spunky with him, if she knew he was related to Rehan? The idea of Sanam toning herself down, or deferring to him because of his connection to Rehan didn't appeal to him at all. He liked her just the way she was. All that fire. She should never change. Not for anyone.
Either ways, the night at the movies had once again reinforced to him what he was missing. He realised how much he had been craving the feisty Ms Khan's company. Too much for his peace of mind. Overnight this situation had become even more complicated and unpalatable to him. How was he going to act normal in front of Rehan and listen to him talk about how "special" Sanam was to him? How can he continue to pretend he doesn't know who she is? To date, the most sincere relationship in his life had been the one he shared with Rehan. Just as much as not getting Sanam was hurting him, having to distance himself from Rehan was just as painful. He needed time out. He could not possibly go to the office this morning. His mind was too muddled. He had a quick shower and dressed and left home without having breakfast. He didn't want to risk running into Rehan right now. He had to get out of the city for the day. He decided to visit a site around 100k's away where they were building a hotel. He had not been there in a month and a visit was due anyway. If he went their un-announced he could have a more candid view of how things where there as well.
Aahil started to drive towards the Motorway that led out of Bhopal towards the site in question. He called his assistant Ruhi and told her to adjust his appointments. He will probably not be back for the rest of the day. She told him she will handle it. Aahil spent the next hour and a half driving to the site. He arrived there mid-morning. Rehan called him around 10.30, but Aahil ignored his call. He must have surely called to find out why he had gone on a site visit suddenly? But he was in no mood to go into lengthy explanations. He had sent him a text a bit later saying the network was not too good in this area, and that he would talk to him when he got home tonight. He went and saw the project manager who was operating out of the site. Most of the hotel was built anyway and they even had some rooms that were habitable. The staff had their own quarters and there were some guest rooms prepared as well, for anyone who might be visiting the site to check on anything. Building inspectors mainly. Aahil spent most of the day meeting with people involved in the project and he felt like he had a pretty good understanding of how things were running by then. He was quite happy with the progress made to date.
He had lunch with the site manager and a couple of engineers in the staff dining room. The lunch was ordered via a catering service that provided the staff with their meals. Towards late afternoon the weather had really taken a turn for the worse, heavy rain was forecast, and the sight manager told Aahil that it would be best if he did not go head back to the city that afternoon. Aahil said he will be fine, but he insisted that he should not go, but stay in one of the converted rooms in the hotel. Everything was arranged for Aahil's overnight stay. He called home and told his Mother that he had to stay overnight at the site, and that he will be back the next day. She had protested, but when he told her about the bad weather, she had agreed that staying the night was best. Having to stay overnight was not ideal, but it gave him the much needed space and reprieve he needed. At least it meant that he can avoid running into Rehan tonight. He would probably start to talk about his "After movie" date with Sanam, or worse still try to get him to go to "S2" with him the next day. So this having to stay overnight at the hotel site worked out very well.
Aahil woke up early the next day and set off for Bhopal. He reached around 10am. He went home and after having a quick shower and changing he headed off to work. He reached work around 11am. Ruhi had cleared his morning schedule as per his request. When he got in, she came into his cabin to go over the rest of his day. He had tentatively questioned her regarding Rehan's whereabouts and Ruhi told him that Rehan was at an I.T Day seminar and won't be back for the rest of the day. "Just as well" thought Aahil. He was going to have a busy day today, and Rehan will probably go out tonight, coz it was Friday. He would most likely not see him till tomorrow. Not that he can avoid him forever, but he needed to work out exactly what his coping strategy was going to be. Seeing Sanam again had only made things worse. He felt like he was back where he started. Maybe accepting the inevitable might be his only option? Unpalatable as that was to him.
Ruhi told him that right after lunch, he had a meeting with some out of town clients, after which he had to have an early dinner with them, before they left.
"Where is the dinner Ruhi?" he asked his assistant.
"S2 sir" said Ruhi.
"Come again?" said Aahil, looking up from his laptop screen.
"S2...Sir..." Said Ruhi again.
"Who booked dinner there?"
"I did the booking. But it was Rehan sir that arranged it. He said that he has organised a deal with the restaurant for our company? Starting today, we will be taking our out of town clients there. He said he cleared it with you first sir", Ruhi added quickly. Aahil was a great boss, but he can be temperamental sometimes. Lately Ruhi had noticed he seemed to be in some sort of funk? His behavior had been..."Strange" was the only word that she could find to accurately describe it. He seemed to be in a 'mood'? Not a good one. Ever since he got back from Punjab he'd not been the same. He'd called in sick this week and had gone on an unscheduled site visit as well? She wondered if something had happened in Punjab? Why was the boss so distracted these days? On the other hand, she had noticed that Rehan seemed to be in the best mood since his return from the Mumbai I.T conference? Rehan was always easy going, but this was something more? It was strange how the two brothers seem to be in completely opposite moods lately. She'd barley seen them together as well. Maybe THEY had a fight? But that would not explain Rehan's better mood surely? Ruhi shook her head as if to get her thoughts back to the matter at hand.
"It's too late for today, but would you like me to make alternative arrangements for the future?" asked Ruhi quickly. She sensed her boss's displeasure at the named venue for the dinner tonight.
As tempted as Aahil was to say yes, he didn't want to step on Rehan's toes. He will discuss it with him later before he made a decision. "No it's fine. Leave it for now Ruhi. What time is dinner?"
"6.30 sir".
"Ok. Thanks Ruhi", he said dismissing her. Soon she left his cabin and went towards the cabin at the front, which she occupied. She was a good assistant. Nice girl. Pretty, but level headed. She had worked for him for just over 2 years now. She was very professional and that is what he liked about her. Also, she was discreet. She was the "Guardian" of his door! She never let anyone in, unless HE had specifically told her that they can come to his cabin. Many a disgruntled girlfriend had been taken care of by Ruhi. She looked cute, but she was a no nonsense Punjabi girl. "The smiling assassin" is what the other girls in the office called her. That is why he paid her well, and gave her flexibility so she could do her management studies. Another reason that Aahil liked her was that she never wasted time trying to get his attention. She concentrated on work. She was happily engaged to a guy she met in collage. Shaurya. He had come to work events a few times and he'd met him. He was a nice guy. An engineer. He worked for the City Council. They were getting married next year. Ruhi had assured him that she will continue to work after she gets married. He was relieved. Good assistants were hard to find.
Aahil realised that he would have to go with his clients to "S2" tonight, and there was nothing he could do to change this fact. So he wasted no more time trying to think of the inevitable and got on with his day. Soon he got busy catching up on work from the previous day and before he knew it, the clients were here. After all the meetings were done, they dispersed with the plan of meeting at 6.15 in the office foyer. Ruhi had already organised for a cab to arrive to take them to the venue. The restaurant was less than 10 minutes' drive from the office, so it was hardly going to take time. She was also accompanying them for the dinner. She would then organise for the clients to be dropped off at the airport. Aahil drove with Ruhi to the restaurant, and their 4 guests came in a cab.
Sanam had to go out tonight. She had to leave work early. Sean was going to be Head Chef again, and Danny, their junior Sous Chef was going to take on the duties of Sous chef again tonight. But she decided to wait until the people of I.H Group came before she left. After all, Rehan had organised a lucrative deal for them with the company he worked for. He had called her directly about it. Not involving Seher. That's one thing she liked about Rehan. He knew Seher was not really involved in the decision making of the business. She was a partner because the money for the venture came from their joint inheritance. Rehan had told her that after being impressed with their food, that he wanted to make an agreement with their restaurant to bring their out of town clients to them. He asked if they could agree on a 15% discount for their company in exchange for continued patronage. Sanam understood the merits of the deal. This was a good way for them to make a name for themselves among the corporates in the city. Word spreads and if all the big wigs start coming to their restaurant, they will attract more customers. She agreed to the deal. Rehan had told her the first group of clients will be coming for an early dinner on Friday night. She knew she won't be in the whole night, but she had agreed to stay and greet them before she left for the night. After all, she was not just head chef, but co-owner too. So it made sense for her to make a good impression. Especially coz Rehan said their CEO was the one bringing the group. Rehan had mentioned that their CEO had actually visited the restaurant before. Sanam was just about to ask his name, when Rehan got a call on his other line, and he excused himself from her. Whoever the CEO was, he was obviously a "Fat Cat" type, so it pays for her to make a good impression, she thought.
She had meant to go online and check on the company, but she'd not had any time at all to do this. Sanam had several meetings with suppliers today, and she had been out of the restaurant all day. She was wearing a Grey pencil slim skirt with a red belt, and a white shirt, and high heeled pumps. Her hair was tied up and off her face. She looked cool and business like. She was in her office on the side of the restaurant. There was a knock on her door, and Neha the floor manager came in.
"Sanam, the party from I.H Group are here" she said. Sanam walked out on to the restaurant floor. There were a number of diners at the restaurant already. She walked towards the table and she saw three men and two women in business attire sitting at the table. The younger well dressed women stood up and extended her hand towards Sanam.
"Ms Khan? I am Ruhi Singh. We spoke on the phone?" she said.
"Yes. Nice to meet you", said Sanam, shaking her hand.
"Likewise" she said, and introduced the guests to Sanam as their out of town clients.
"Ms Singh, I just wanted to come over and greet you and your guests personally, before I leave tonight. I have a prior engagement. Our restaurant manager Neha will take care of you tonight, and if you have any queries, please ask to see Sean Winget, our Head Chef tonight", said Sanam.
Just then Sanam heard a sound behind her and she turned towards it. A man was walking towards the table. She did a double take as she saw who it was. "Aahil Raza Ibrahim?". Of course! "I.H" stood for "Ibrahim Holdings!" WHY had she not realised this before? Sanam and Neha looked at each other, as if to say "Trouble was here!"
"Here is our CEO Mr Ibrahim" said Ruhi, as Aahil approached the table. He had been a few minutes, because he was parking the car. He had asked her to go in with the guests.
Aahil saw Sanam and took in her appearance. She looked very cool and business like in her formal clothes. Her hair was tied back as well. This is the most formally dressed he had ever seen her. But she looked just as beautiful as in all her other avatars! "Does this woman look bad in anything?" thought Aahil resentfully. She was making it very hard for him to forget about her and concede defeat to his brother.
"Ms Khan" he greeted her coolly, with a nod of the head as he walked to his seat at the table.
"Mr Ibrahim" said Sanam, just as coolly. Ruhi noticed the way they greeted each other and realised that they already knew each other.
"It appears Sir that you and Ms Khan are already acquainted?" she asked just to make sure.
"Yes Ruhi. We are", said Aahil in a tone that meant 'no further discussion'. 2.5 years of working for Aahil had taught Ruhi many things, but one thing for certain. When the boss used THAT tone, she knew that the topic is closed. She wisely did not question further. However, with a female's intuition, she suddenly wondered if THIS was the reason that he had seemed reluctant to have dinner at "S2", or more specifically "Ms Khan"? Either ways, she didn't have time to speculate now.
"Mr Ibrahim, Ms Singh, I am really sorry, but I have to take your leave now, please call Neha or Sean if you have any issues".
"I will give you a few minutes to settle down, and then a waiter will come for your drinks order" said Neha as she walked away from the table.
Sanam nodded towards the whole table. "Have a good evening, and I hope you enjoy your dinner at 'S2' tonight".
"Good night" murmured the group, and with a quick glance at Aahil, Sanam turned around and left the table. This was the most formally dressed Sanam had seen Aahil. Yes he had always looked stylish, but in a suit, he looked damned near perfect. "Did this man look bad in anything?"
Aahil watched her go. She disappeared to the side of the restaurant. She obviously had something on tonight? "Was it with Rehan?" He wondered. Either ways, it was good she was not going to stay. That way, he can concentrate on his guests, without being distracted by her presence.
Sanam left the restaurant through their side door, after going to the kitchen and telling Sean that the "deal" that they had struck was with non-other than Aahil Raza Ibrahim's company. "So everything has to be A1 Sean" said Sanam. Sean laughed and said that it will be. It seemed like "Fate" was bringing him to their door time and again? Sanam shook her head and left from there. She had to go home and get ready for tonight.
Aahil, Ruhi and the clients had an uneventful dinner. The clients were high on praise for the menu, the drinks selection and the service. So the evening had been a success. Nothing to complain there. Ruhi had organised for a cab to take the clients to the airport. She told Aahil that Shauraya was picking her up, and that he didn't have to drop her home. The clients had left, and Shauraya had arrived soon after. After Ruhi safely left with him, Aahil had left the premises and headed home.
After Aahil reached home, as expected he found that Rehan was out. He was feeling restless. Maybe he should go out? Yeah he should. What else will distract him enough on a Friday night? Staying home would just be torture now. He should probably call Nida? She would be up to something tonight for sure? He had cut Nida's call abruptly that day, coz he had been mad at her. He should really call her and make up? So he called up Nida.
"Hey Nida?"
"AAHIL...You suddenly remembered me?" said Nida sarcastically.
"Come on Nida, cut it out. I hung up on you that day coz you pissed me off. What are you doing tonight?"
"Wow...Aahil Raza Ibrahim, without a date on a Friday night? The world must be coming to an end?"
"Are you going to tell me what you're doing or should I hang up again?" said Aahil in an irritated tone.
"Going clubbing baby, with baby brother!" said Nida. "You wanna come?" said Nida, smiling.
"Yeah sure, I haven't seen Sohail in ages as well!" said Aahil.
"Ok then. Come to my place at 11. Sohail will join us at the club. He's gone out to have dinner with some friends".
"Sounds good. 11pm it is?" said Aahil hanging up. It would be good to see Sohail again. He just needed to have some drinks and kick back tonight. Who better than with Nida? He didn't have to try with her at all. Also Nida and Sohail together was always fun. He was surely going to have some laughs tonight. He went to get ready.
Aahil walked into the club with Nida, and within minutes of her arriving there she saw someone she knew, and went running to talk to them. Aahil told Nida to find him inside and went further into the club by himself. The dance floor was crowded, but not overrun. There were booths all around the dance floor. Suddenly he saw a familiar face. Rehan became visible to him sitting at one of the booths in the corner. "He was here tonight?" Of course he had not known that, since he had not seen him the whole day. There appeared to be some people with him. He recognised some of the people as Sanam's friends he had seen at 'S2' the first night he'd been there. Of course sitting next to Rehan was that unmistakable face. "Sanam". He sighed. Aahil remembered that famous line from the movie Casablanca, "Of all the gin joints, in all the towns, in all the world, she had to walk into mine"! Of course this was a club, not a gin joint and he was not necessarily a regular here, but that was the gist of it. Of all the places she could have been tonight, she was exactly where he was. It seems this town was no longer big enough to house him, her, and his brother, in a way that their paths won't cross? Aahil was about to turn around and go in the other direction to look for Nida again, when Rehan spotted him.
"Bhai" he waved at him. Rehan had seen him, and so had everyone else at the table. He had no option but to go over.
"Hi Rehan" said Aahil, and he barely glanced at the rest of the group. But from the corner of his eye he saw the girls who were Sanam's friends say something to each other in a hushed tone. However, Sanam herself didn't seem to be reacting to his presence much at all? He found that rather odd? But maybe she was playing it cool in front of Rehan?
"Hey Bhai. I didn't know you were going to be here tonight?" said Rehan smiling and standing up from his seat.
"I'm here with Nida!"
"How was the dinner with the clients? Everything went well?"
"Yeah Rehan. It all went well".
"Did the clients enjoy dinner at 'S2'?"
"Yes they did", Aahil said, and glanced at Sanam. She was looking at him, but her expression could only be deemed as 'curious'?
"Bhai, there's someone I want you to meet", said Rehan, looking pointedly at Sanam. She stood up, and Rehan turned to Aahil. "Bhai this is..." Rehan started to say, but Aahil cut him off.
"Ms Khan and I are already acquainted", said Aahil. "Good evening Ms Khan" he said formally.
"Good evening?" said Sanam with a slight frown. She looked a bit lost? "Why was she looking surprised? Why was she pretending not to know him"? Aahil frowned.
Aahil noticed that Sanam's friends looked at each other quizzically. He glanced at Rehan, and saw his gaze move from him to Sanam with a confused expression. "But Bhai?...When did you...?" Rehan was saying when a voice from behind Aahil interrupted him.
"Hey Aahil...Bro...long time no see!" It was Sohail, Nida's brother. "When I left home, Api didn't tell me you were coming here tonight too?"
"It was sort of a last minute plan?" said Aahil.
"Yeah, I saw Api and she told me you were here, so I came looking for you"? He said, as he stepped forward and Aahil gave him a quick hug. "Good to see you bro".
"Yeah same here. How are things Sohail?" said Aahil.
"Good bro. Everything's good. I'm finishing collage this year, and Mum's surgery was a success. I am sure Api told you. Anyways, let me buy you a drink? It's been ages since we caught up? Hey Rehan" he said to Rehan over Aahil's shoulder.
"Hey Sohail", Rehan responded back. "Bhai..." Rehan started to say again, when there was a change of song, and some people started to cheer. It was a latest hit and seemed like it had a lot of fans.
"Wow...I love this song. Rehan? Can we dance please?" said Sanam from behind Rehan. He turned around and saw her smiling expectantly at him, and extended her hand towards him.
"Sure babe" said Rehan smiling back at her and taking her hand. "I'll see you later Bhai?" he said to Aahil apologetically as he walked passed him holding Sanam's hand.
"So it was 'Babe' now?" Aahil watched them go with a pained expression. They looked very happy. Sanam looked very pretty tonight. She was wearing a black sleeveless short dress with a puffy skirt. She had a yellow belt on at the waist, and yellow strappy sandals. Black and Yellow, just like the last time he had seen her with Rehan, when they were outside the coffee shop. "Looks like a theme"? He thought. Every other time he had seen Sanam alone, she had been wearing Red in some form? The first time a red dress, then her white t-shirt but she had a red bag, then white chef's uniform with red piping. Then at the movies, the red cardi, and tonight, the business attire with the red belt. Once again he noticed that her hair seemed slightly shorter? How can her hair go from shorter to longer, to shorter again in a space of a week? "I am starting to see things" he thought frowning. He watched them dance. Sanam was smiling as she placed her hand on Rehan's chest and she started to tell him something, and he bent his head to hear her better and then they laughed. "That's as much of the 'Sanam and Rehan' show I can take" thought Aahil, when a voice broke his train of thoughts.
"Bro...you wanna go to the bar? Let's get a drink?" said Sohail.
"Why not"? He said as he turned around and walked away from the scene in front of him with Sohail.
They went to the bar and got some drinks. They were chatting about how Sohail collage team was doing very well in cricket this season, and how he had made Captain of the team. Aahil himself was a big cricket enthusiast, having captained his school and then his collage team. Suddenly Nida turns up next to where they were. She already had a drink in her hand.
"Guys. Thank God I found you. I was looking all over for you two"!
"Hey Nida, you didn't tell me Sohail here made Captain of his Collage Cricket team?"
"Aahil...how many years have you know me? You KNOW I take no interest in sport? Now if Sohail had become a 'model' I would have told you for sure!" said Nida. Both Aahil and Sohail laughed at the comment. That was classic 'Nida'. Always speaks her mind!
"Rehan's girlfriend's quite hot" said Sohail who was looking in the direction of the dance floor.
"Rehan's girlfriend?" said Nida, her eyes moving in the direction Sohail was looking at. Aahil closed his eyes in dismay as he knew what was coming. Once Nida sees Sanam, there was going to be no holding back.
As expected, Nida did a double take. "Wait a minute? THAT'S Rehan's girlfriend? But that's...OMG", she said, looking at Aahil. Aahil deliberately averted her gaze!
"Aahil", said Nida, grabbing his arm. "Ms Chef, is Rehan's girlfriend? Since when?"
"Since after I came back from the 'Jungle' as you called it?" said Aahil scowling.
"Oh Lord...No wonder you've been acting so bi-polar lately. What the Eff Aahil...?? WHY didn't you tell me?"
"I told you Nida, I didn't want to talk about it!"
"Come ON Aahil! I know I kid around, but we have been friends for YEARS. You should have told me Yaar!" Nida chided him, and she actually looked annoyed with him.
"Sorry" Aahil muttered.
"You should be, you dumbass. What is wrong with you suffering silently? How did Rehan meet her? Leave that! Does Rehan know you..."? She left the question unfinished.
"No he doesn't know anything, and he won't either".
"But Aahil..."
"No Nida. I won't tell him anything, and you won't either. We have been friends for years right? Can I count on you to keep my confidence?"
"Of course! Do you even have to ASK?" she said affronted.
"I need some air. I'll come back in a minute" said Aahil as he turned to make his way towards the entrance.
Nida and Sohail watched him go. "What just happened?" said Sohail to his sister.
"Long story little brother. Let's just say...Aahil wants something he can't have, and it hurts" Nida said quietly. "I bug him all the time, but he is one of my best friends, and I don't like seeing him this way!" said Nida frowning.
Aahil walked towards the doorway that led to the foyer of the club. He walked through it and was moving towards the entrance. He was so distracted by his thoughts that he didn't see there was someone walking towards him in his path. Suddenly someone knocked against him.
"Sorry" a husky female voice that sounded familiar said. Aahil turned his head towards the voice and just stared unblinking for a second. Standing in front of him was Sanam. How was she here, when she had been inside the club minutes earlier?
"Mr Ibrahim?" said Sanam in surprise.
Aahil was still looking at her intently. "What are you doing here?" Aahil murmured.
"What am I doing here? I am here to meet my sister and her bo..." she left the sentence incomplete and shook her head, as if asking herself what she is doing? "Why am I explaining myself to you?" she said looking at him pointedly.
"But you CAN'T be here" said Aahil in a confused voice.
"CAN'T be here? What are you talking about Mr Ibrahim? I am aware that you are the 'Nawab of Bhopal' but the last I checked this was a free country and I can be wherever I want?" said Sanam indignantly. Is this man for real? She knew his company had a contract with her restaurant now? But surely that didn't mean she had to get his permission to go places?
Aahil was thoroughly confused. What was she talking about? She had been inside dancing with Rehan minutes ago, and now she was in the foyer? That too picking a fight with him? Inside, in front of Rehan she had acted like she didn't even know him? Suddenly Aahil noticed something else, and he blinked to make sure he was seeing right.
"What are you wearing?" he said, staring at Sanam. She was wearing a pair of satin black knee length tight pants with cuffs at the knees. Her top was a red sleeveless chiffon off shoulder. She was wearing black stilettos with a peep toe and cuffs around the ankles. She wore red lipstick like the first time he saw her, and had a red clutch in her hand, and once again, her hair seemed slightly longer. Aahil just kept staring.
Sanam stared back at Aahil incredulously. "Mr Ibrahim? Are you quite well? Or are you under the influence of something? You're not making any sense?" said Sanam. What was wrong with this guy? First he asks her what she is doing here, and now he's asking her what she's wearing?
"But...you..." Aahil continued staring at her. Sanam rolled her eyes and stalked past him and further into the foyer. She was making her way towards the entrance of the club area. Aahil just kept looking at her, and he shook his head, as if to clear it. "What just happened?" he asked himself. He found himself following her like he was being pulled by a string.
Sanam walked into the club. She was still trying to get her head around Aahil Raza Ibrahim's downright strange behaviour. "Honestly that man is a one piece! I bet he's on drugs!" she thought. As she walked further in, she noticed her friends at a booth. They spotted her and started to wave at her. Then out of the corner of her eye, she saw Rehan and Seher on the dance floor. As she looked towards them, Seher noticed her and she waived at her. Seher did a gesture for her to come join them on the dance floor. She shook her head, smiling. But Seher kept gesturing to her, so she walked over towards Rehan and Seher. She reached them and Seher pulled her towards them and started to dance and she joined them laughing. Sanam turned around towards the booth with Rhea and Aliyah and gestured to them to join. Just then the song changed as well, and they got up to make their way towards them.
Aahil walked further into the club and looked around to see if he could spot Sanam. The crowd had grown on the dance floor coz they were playing some new hit again. "Where did she disappear to?" Then suddenly through the crowd he saw her. Next to her were her friends. Then he saw Rehan, and just as he was about to turn away he saw her AGAIN? But this time in what she had been wearing before. Aahil stared for a second and then turned his head a fraction towards where he had seen Sanam before. There she was, in Red, and then he turned again and there she was in Black? He blinked a few times, like he wanted to make sure he was seeing right? "There were TWO Sanam's?". She was right. He WAS under the influence. The influence of insanity. "Am I losing it? Or are there really TWO?" Aahil asked himself. The more he kept moving his head, the more he continued to see two!
Just then, he felt a hand on his arm.
"Aahil?" said Nida's voice.
"Ha?" said Aahil distracted.
Aahil seemed dazed. Nida clicked her fingers in front of his eyes. "What's the matter with you? She asked.
"There's two!" said Aahil.
"TWO?"
"Yeah, there's two Nida. Two Sanam's?"
"WHAT? Aahil...did you take some drugs in the last 10 minutes?"
"That's what SHE asked me?" said Aahil, still looking towards the dance floor.
"Aahil...you really are not making sense. What are you looking at?" she asked, and at the same time, her eyes followed a path to where Aahil was looking. Nida did a double take. Her eyes widened.
"What the F**K?" said Nida. Nothing else seemed appropriate to describe what she was looking at. No wonder Aahil was dazed. "OMG! There's two! Two Ms Chef's?"
"That's what I was telling you" said Aahil looking at Nida for the first time.
"Aahil"...Nida started to laugh. "They're TWINS"! Your Ms Chef is an Effing twin!"
"Twins" said Aahil, still dazed. "Sanam is a twin? She's not Rehan's girlfriend. Her twin is! She's a twin!" he said again, like he was reinforcing the fact to himself.
"YES...she most Effing IS!" Nida laughed.
To be continued...
Hi Folks,
This was one long update. But finally Aahil knows that Sanam is a twin. Many things are finally clear to him. Sanam however, has no idea that Rehan is Aahil's brother. After all, they have different last names? She only knows he works in Aahil's company. Next time, many more facts will be made clear!
Hope you all enjoy the update!
Regards
Mandy
