Chap-7

Sanam wanted to object.
She was shocked at first , not really able to believe that Aahil was tending to his wound instead of getting mad? What was wrong with him! First in that banglow and now here!

Sanam felt she was soon going to go insane if not of happiness then of shock. She needed to clear her mind. And for that she was at the verge of excusing herself but then it never came, as at that precise moment a loud ear deafening noise spread across the room and through the entire house.

The noise had been earspading and tremendous, like a sound of 100 bombs erupting at one time.

Sanam's heart sank instantly, in spite of not knowing what it was, she was scared, not for herself but for everyone.

Aahil too had been stilled. He had applied the medicine and was at the point of wrapping the bandage when he heard the shriek, but he was in perfect control over himself as he didn't falter or shake, like Sanam.
Al though Aahil too was frightened.

Sanam jerked up, her face held confusion and had gone pale , the way it does when shock and fear sinks in.

The sound had generated from the hall downstairs,and close to it was Rehan's room.

Sanam was patrified. In fear she clutched Aahil's hand who also had rose with her.

"what. . . What was that. . that sound? Aahil--" Sanam faltered, Aahil pressed his hands upon her arm, he wanted to tell her not to worry, to tell that he will take care of everything, but he couldn't. Something about the sound told him that it was not a matter he could handle so easily.

Aahil had a strong nerve but even so the violence of the noise that passed through the house a moment ago, seemed to be booming through his ear drums still and along with it a dread, that was beginning to leap larger with each second.

Therefore the best Aahil could do was to hold her hand and step out of the room. And that's what exactly he did.
And once Aahil reached the stairs, he let go of her and in hurried steps dodging 3 at a time he strod towards the source of the sound.

With his heart hammering Aahil continued to walk towards the corner room.
There was no sign of anyone ; except the smoke that was beginning to cloud everything around.

Twice Aahil called for Rehan but there was no reply. His eyes began to burn. The smoke was thickening. Not debating further Aahil ran to the door, he was about to push the door open when another sound came from around the end of the corridor.

Someone was moving out, without another second thought Aahil turned and followed. A flicker of a shadow passed over the door and Aahil threw his hands through the smoke to hold the receding figure.

There was a gun shot. And a screaming. Aahil's hand jerked backwards and he fell down over the floor.
After a while the Smoke cleared and there was Rehan.

Seeing the fallen figure Rehan rushed to it and bent down. He saw Aahil lying in a pool of blood !

Scene change-

Aahil's left arm was heavily bandaged. Resting over the bedstead he had closed his eyes and due to the strong medicines he had been given, Aahil had lulled into sleep.

Sanam had been worried, she was immensely sad and jittery when they didn't let her see him. It was only after watching Aahil in a stable condition, did she feel a bit relieved.

She could never forget that picture- she was on the stairs when she heard the gun shot, she had been scared like hell. . . and had gone running to the source. Her heart almost had leaped to her mouth when she saw Rehan leaning beside Aahil's blood smeared body.

'There was so much blood-!' Sanam closed her eyes. She is glad that Aahil is out of danger now.

Sanam opened her eyes and stared at Aahil's sleeping figure through the glass of the closed door. He was still sleeping.

The woman he wanted didn't seem to want her and the girl he was to marry had left her at the day of their engagement !
'How lucky was he-!' humiliated and half in a mode of grimace Aahil gave a sneer.
Ammi didn't want him to know, when Aahil asked about her she said Nida had to rush because her dad was sick. It was Latif who told him what had really happened.

Aahil moved a little to adjust his position. It had been only few minutes that he had regained sense yet his left arm had already began to pain. But he wanted to sit up, he had always enjoyed the sights over the cloud. Moreover lying is not a condition he was too fond of; especially when he was on plane !

Aahil searched for Latif but there was no one. He heard a sound and turned his eyes and Aahil was astounded.

"Sanam-? "

"What was Sanam doing here -!!"
