"Asad are you sure about what you're going to do?" Dr Anwar asked Asad as they came out of Zoya's room.
"Not too sure.. I mean I want to take up the responsibility, but it'll be a handful managing Zoya.."
"Because she has a disability?"
"No!" Asad immediately balked," What a job I have done of raising Ayaan, you've seen what he did..how am I going to manage that poor girl and the miracle growing in her " Asad sighed," Zoya has a mind of a child. Some say she has mental issues, but to me it seems something else, other than the fact that she can't hear or talk.."
Anwar nodded," Yes, it's always seemed like that to me too.. I've always suggested Mr Siddiqui to take her to a better town for a correct diagnosis.. but.."
Asad grunted," That man.." he groaned angrily.
"You could do a lot of good to Zoya if you were to marry her. Gaffur plans on sending her away till her delivery, and then give the child away..What a sin would that be Asad.."
Asad nodded thoughtfully, making a decision.
"Mr Siddiqui, I'd like to marry your daughter.."Asad said staring into Gaffur Siddiqui's dark and empty eyes, with such confidence that irked him.
"This is no joke Mr Khan!" He yelled," Your brother forced himself on my daughter, and now you're asking for marriage? How do you think I can trust you?" Gaffur demanded.
"I've cut all ties with my brother, he no longer lives with me.. he made a mistake, committed a sin, but I am here to correct it.. I take full responsibility of your daughter.."
"And the child she's pregnant with?" Gaffur questioned icily sure the man would walk back on his words," I will raise it like my own.." Asad promised more to himself than the arrogant man and useless excuse of a father questioning him.
Asad couldn't have a child of his own, marrying Zoya wouldn't only safeguard her and give her a better life, he would get a child too, whom he had craved for but he knew he couldn't ever have.
Gaffur was aiming to get into politics, listed for that year's elections. But his daughters pregnancy had him fearful of his dignity in the society. He wanted to keep her in hiding, let her give birth and give away the child in foster care. Asad hated the man, hated the father within him even more, but he wouldn't let that be known to him yet.
"You can have the kid, raise it like your own, but after the kid is born, you divorce her, and she'll come back to me. If yes then it's a deal and if not, then the door is to your right Mr Khan.." Gaffur said with a rigid finality.

P.P.S - Just to clear Asad is not already married in this story. He is only medically diagnosed that he can't have a child.
IMP NOTE : - NOTE : - Since so many people have asked the same in the comments.. I am just posting a note for it. Zoya had a hearing and speaking disability from when she was a child, but her parents never understood that, and took her behaviour to be one of a crazy child. They didn't educate her, didn't expose her to the outer world, due to which she never grew up mentally and remained a child. The Sound of Love is the story of Zoya's journey from being a child to a woman, of liberation from a cage that her parents bound her in and lead a new life, a complete one and of her realization that the disabilities cannot snatch her chance of a beautiful life. Zoya may not hear or talk, but she is an intelligent and sharp girl, whose talent and courage was never understood because no one ever wanted to. But Asad comes into her life and changes it all for better. They both evolve individually as much as a couple..
