Chapter 4 The Shocker
It was late at night at Professor Shaikh's household. Outside on the porch, KSG stood in silence watching the rain pour down. Thats when KT came out. He looked at KSG with a content, yet chilled face as KSG's back turned to him. "Karan..." KT said. KSG only turned his head at an angle.
"Enough...Karan. Its been a long day. At least forget about it now." KT pleaded. KSG remained silent. "Don't let your emotions get the better of you. Besides, tomorrow we have college...its best you rest up," KT continued. "At least start a new day on a fresh note." With that, KT headed back inside. KSG stood still and headed and inside to his room which he and KT shared. He went on the top of the bunk bed and laid on his bed, motionless...and slowly drifted to sleep.
The next morning, KSG and KT were getting ready to go to college. The two were finishing breakfast in the kitchen when Professor Shaikh came in. "Okay boys, I have to go. Now remember...KV is new to St Andrews College...so make him feel welcome." Professor Shaikh ordered.
"Sir, Surbhi is there for that. " KT smiled.
"But he's your new comrad. And he and Surbhi seem to have gotten along already. Now its your turn. Relationships can only build when we learn to connect with others."
KSG looked at Professor Shaikh with a somber face. "Anyways...I better get going. Bye." Professor Shaikh told KT and KSG as he began to leave. KT waved bye to Professor Shaikh as he left. "Come on. We should go as well." KT told KSG.
At St. Andrews College, KV was waiting near the college lounge. He checked his watch. Where is she? She's the one who told me to wait here. KV thought to himself. Thats when he saw Surbhi walking by in the lounge. But she had not came alone. She was talking to another boy. He was dressed in cool casual wear, jeans, and a green jacket. His hair was long and ruffled like a lorry. The two were laughing as they continued to converse.
"Mohit, are you sure you can go to the meeting by yourself?"
"Ofcourse! It seems our club president is busy nowadays!"
"Come on! A new recruit is now working under my boss. Since he's new to the college, I thought I'd show him around."
"Where is he?"
Surbhi looked around to find KV standing watching her and Mohit. "Right there!" Surbhi pointed out to KV. Mohit turned and waved to KV. Wonder who he is, KV thought to himself as he waved back to Mohit. "Anyways...I should go. I'll see you later." Surbhi told Mohit.
"Sure. Bye." Mohit said as he left the lounge. Surbhi then walked to KV. "Sorry..I'm a bit late." Surbhi apologized.
"Forget that. Tell me...who was that?"
"Him...that was Mohit. My friend."
"I've heard that one before,"
"What do you mean by that?!"
"Whats that saying in Hindi?Oh yeah...ek ladki aur ladka kabhi dost nahi ban sakti!"
"Oh shut up! That only happens in movies!"
"You never know..."
"Do you want me to show you around or not?"
"Fine."
Just then, Surbhi's cell phone rang. She took her phone out and answered the call. "Yeah KT?" Surbhi answered. "What?! Again! Okay...me and KV will be there!" Surbhi disconnected the call.
"What happened?"
"Its KSG. We have to go to the alley now!"
"Again this guy?! I'm starting to get annoyed with this KSG!"
"Come one!"
In the alley, KT found KSG sitting in the corner. "Everything has a limit, Karan! I've had it with you running off to be alone!" KT shouted. Just then, KV and Surbhi arrived on the scene. "Is he okay?" Surbhi asked.
"He is being too stubborn now!" KT shouted,
"I'll talk to him." Surbhi said.
Surbhi slowly walked towards KSG. "Karan..."she called. KSG sat in silence. "Karan...please...please get up." Surbhi pleaded. KSG didn't answer. Surbhi then touched KSG's shoulder. KSG immediately jerked her hand off, standing up and said, "Just leave me alone."
"How much longer do we leave you alone, Karan?!" Surbhi asked. "The more you stay alone the more you draw into yourself! Enough is enough! You can't hide from the real world forever!"
"I can...and I will..."KSG said sternly.
"Well we won't let you," Surbhi replied.
Surbhi then tried to grab KSG's hand as she said "Please lets go!"
"STOP!" KSG shouted as he jerked Surbhi off. It didn't stop there. In his anger, a release of dark energy emerged from his hand in the form of a shadowball and hit Surbhi directly. She fell to the ground, unconscious. KV and KT shared shocked looks on their faces while KSG stood stiff, regretting what he had done.
