I have pretty much stopped watching QH. I caught one episode and was completely put off. Apparently creativity is dead.

I watched ipk (online) much after it had release and when it was nearer it's death and it seems like Gul has a pattern of losing interest in her shows. Plus the offscreen drama I think is perpetrated and encouraged by her. A lot of her shows success depends on online hype and buzz. I do agree - she casts well and she starts out alright and then kaboom!

I am with you - the leap was the most pointless decision ever made. The trps were stable and killing the much loved lead characters of the original show I think has cost them more viewers than it has won.
I for one will never understand the tanveer and amprapali obsession. The character is so badly written it's almost an embarrassment to even discuss her and the actress I think made the character even more intolerable. I think people watch a show to escape their days just for a bit and the only thing we ask for is semi logical entertainment and not have evil spit on all things good and holy. While Gul delivered at the start she failed her viewers miserably in the end.

Exactly! Entertainment should give us break from our day to day stress, if we end up agitated or insulted after watching a show due to mockery of viewers intelligence, undue negativity, intolerable stupidity of leads and ever victorious antagonists then the show is no more an entertainment.

After reading some comments about KVB's epic acting in Saubhagyavati bhava, I recently viewed few episodes online out of curiosity and trust me I was so got hooked up to the show, not able to watch more due to lack of time but based on what I watched KVB's negative acts are so convincing, I for one don't like too much violence against women but this show is all about a sadistic husband and yet I liked it and it shows that if the subject is presented logically, even a sensitive plot will be liked and appreciated by viewers. KVB was fantabulous in Saubhagyavati bhava. QH CVs had an excellent plot at hand but they miserably failed in logic and execution, therefore, viewers lost the connection. QH 2 seems to be in a worser position with not so novel plot but with same PH with no regard to viewers expectations, social responsibility or logic.

^^ Saubhagyabati Bhava was really good. In fact, you should watch Raquesh's Maryada too. Really good story-telling. And KVB is very talented, he associates with such fantastic films too. You should watch Ek Haseena thi which he co-produced, or Saheb, Biwi aur Gangster. Fantastic movies. They should have brought him in as the producer. The show would have been better than what it is now.
Gul Khan has no sense of storytelling or originality. She starts off okay and inevitably ruins everything. Mark my words, QH2 will be a huge disaster. There is nothing original in the plot at all. The same love-hate, office romance drama. It is ruined already.

I have no much hopes on QH2, just watching out of habit and love for old QH but I am so far not impressed and how long will I be able to continue with the show depends on future story telling.

Oh interesting, I am tempted to give the show a go!

I think any topic handled with sensitivity and logic which is presented in a creative and appealing way has the potential of hooking the audience. The problem is Indian Telly is more concerned in giving us the same love- hate romances packaged as "brand new concept" and "unique" of which they are neither. QH2 is a version of the original QH with a little bit of Guls Geet and Ipk. If every producer could copy their owns shows, market it as brand new and make as much money - sadly that seems to be left to the likes of Gul.

Qh had potential of being a gripping family drama and the show failed on both accounts - there was no family and the drama presented was so below par that it's not even worth mentioning.

I was just reading an article ( I forget where) apparently a new show is to be released which is loosely based on friends. Worse the producer has been credited with this being a creatively "high" idea. Since when is stealing someone else's work considered creative? This is the standard of Indian tv and it's disappointing. Not to mention a show like friends would never work in Indian with the way everything is censored!

Wondering where you were. Was missing your Qs.
Add mine to the list:
Why did Sanam sign without reading the papers?
Why can't ladies go to bank to get loans?
Why do you still look for logic in daily soaps?

Not reporting to police is a trait Sanam has got in virasat from Asad. Did Asad ever report any of Billi's crime to police?

Went thru the replies and opinion in this thread.
There's a reason TV is called the Idiot box. Don't think either the channels nor the makers have the social cause as their main agenda. Well, CSR is just now making its presence felt in the corporate world, it will take time for it to seep into the TV industry.

Will have to watch DD one day and find out what content is run on the GOvt. run channes.

Worse. Believe me, worse. 😆 Except for some of the educational programmes. I blame Ekta for everything. Before her, people used to make actually sensitive, beautiful shows like Astitva, Shanti, Chanakya and many more. But now, every show is a clone of each other. I mean, I don't want to watch QH2 myself, I never even watched QH1, but what the hell do I watch? What the hell is better? Except for maybe Paanch in Channel V, which is again, perfectly illogical.

I won't even blame Ekta for it. She makes what sells or is good at selling what she makes. End of the day, they are there to make money.

But I agree, before the serials used to be beautiful. it was made from the heart. But there was not much competition back then. So, the makers had a say in the content. Now, its TRPs and channels that have a say more than the maker or writer. And I don't blame them.

True. Honestly, I was sitting at home last day and had nothing to do. So, I decided to watch all the shows there is. 😆 And I have realized that shows like Jodha Akbar and QH2 are actually way better. It is a mad, mad world out there. 😆 There is literally nothing to watch on tv. Nothing.

I am sure they want to be responsible. Forget the sexual intimidation, the slap of season 1 was a low blow for the male lead to have done but yet it was shown. Zoya was traded between two men - should affect the sensibilities of all women but that was seen as true love and helplessness as well. Tv doesn't care either because -

1. They expect their audience to know better and not take fiction seriously
Or
2. They aren't held to higher standards because the audience doesn't demand or ask for better writing and story telling.
