Note: I will PM this post link and what I am typing here to the Mods personally. The only reason I am posting this here is so that other like minded people can also share their thoughts.
Dear Mods,

There is some behavior I am finding extremely annoying on the forums these days. There are a number of us here who still enjoy the show. We are still part of this forum so that we can come together discuss the show, the happenings and gush over what we like/dislike. Basically do what this forum was created for in the first place.

However, of late there is a certain pattern that I have noticed. Whenever a discussion topic is made about something that happened in the show or BTS, no chance is missed to ridicule the show on that post. This is done to certain topic makers more than the others. A lot of us have started ignoring these posts so that our threads do not turn ugly and get closed down. Also, the comments do not always stick to the topic on hand, they are completely unrelated and made only with the sole purpose of spoiling the fun for others.

And when the above fails, comments are made in such a fashion that one of the other "fan-base" will retort. Afterall, everyone has weak points and also a breaking point. At this point, the thread becomes a war zone and eventually gets closed.

Can we please do something about this? As you may have noticed the number of discussion posts have gone down drastically over the last few weeks. People prefer to move to other avenues to discuss due to the annoyance here. I for one, love IF and would not like to leave it. Yet the atmosphere here is becoming very difficult to survive in.

Please note - I am not pointing fingers at any group. I am not even saying that non-discussion topics are not getting spoiled. There are bad apples in every basket, unfortunately. And when one is riled, it is hard to control what gets said/typed.

But can you guys, as a team, come up with better rules so that the discussion topics and all do not always have to get closed due to a handful of bad comments. Can we have you delete a comment to help keep discussions clean? Reporting does not seem to work as far as I can see since it simply gets the threads closed for good. I am sure action is being taken behind the scenes but it is clearly not enough to curb such behavior.

Please help out before this forum turns into a zombie with just FFs.

Thanks,
Rivs

PS: those who agree please comment. Those who don't do comment, but please keep it civil. I really wish we can talk about a problem we are all facing in a civilized manner so that the forum can become a healthy space for all.
PPS: I know this topic may not survive for too long, but I hope that people who are with me, will try to bring this up with the mods too.
PPPS: Those who have intense dislike for me and love to report on me at every given opportunity, please try to be nice this one time.
PPPS: Sending PMs to the mods as soon as I post this.

Hey good post. I have not been a very active member but I have always enjoyed reading posts of everyone with different view points and it has always kept the forum colorful and nice. But lately even I have noticed things have started becoming ugly and no particular person or fan group can be blamed for it. It is all due to lack of tolerance and appreciation for the others
view point and choices and it applies to all.
I, for one, have always enjoyed QH pre replacement may be more but this QH has its own charm. I feel like participating in current discussions and sometimes discussing old episodes but I always refrain coz the opinions on each thread become extreme.
We should all learn not to ridicule others choices as I always say choices are subjective and can never be justified for all. So if we don't agree with something just say I don't buy it that's it.
All of us are here for fun so let's not kill the fun and let everyone enjoy in their own space, posts, actors, fanfictions, everything.
Very good post.

Rivs, totally agree with you.
Even I feel, abusive, degrading, insulting and comparison comments should be deleted from the post.
Hope the mods find an amicable solution.
The solution that readily strikes is a delete button alongside the Report button, which only the TM can access. But that will involve a lot of coding I guess.

Can't think of any other implementable solution unless members learn to respect other's opinion and argue decently.

Mods, I'm sure will be having their hands full with this division in the forum. Deleting comments from posts would be very time consuming for them I guess. But deleting comments based on PMs from TM himself/herself can be looked into.

ANd if something positive comes out of it, I hope all those left due to negativity in the forum, return back.

A much needed post Agree to it

Though I do not discuss much I do read every point n contra point

Open discussions without war; ridicule should be allowed

We all have the right to express ourselves in the decent manner without bashing

That much should be allowed

I agree totally. Lately i hv seen so many posts turning into a war zone and getting closed. And i found a particular person playing a major role in it though i don't wanna take any names here. I got annoyed by those comments and stayed away from those posts though they were good. It would be great if something is done abt this matter. Because good posts getting closed due to one or two individuals' lack of understanding of others' POVs really feels bad.

thank you Rivs for making this post.

I agree with you.. regardless of how much we try to ignore these things and some of the posts, at times it gets on our nerves because we come here to relax and discuss about a show that we still love but end up reading all sorts of nasty comments and sarcastic retorts on posts.

Earlier even i had tried to make some people understand somethings by making one or two posts but later i stopped because a group here doesn't even respect others point of view and try to understand somethings, even if you try to tell them and make them understand in the most logical ways possible. They just have a one track mind.

While there are many fans who are upset about the change that happened but still respect those who wish to continue seeing the show, and try to understand their point of view, there is another group who just ignore everything including other's sentiments and it looks like they get a kick out of mocking others.

And i agree with you.. their behaviour ignites other 'fan' groups and it becomes a war Zone.. And sometimes people like us who are not 'fans' of anyone also, if we try to defend a certain thing, we become attacked in the middle of the war Zone.

Many good topics which would otherwise increase the forum activity are also getting closed because of this.. Something should be done about this.. we need some peace here.

You know I've been reading posts on this forum from 2010 but I did not have the guts to join an online portal because one I did not obviously want to incline myself to anything so much that it gets me addicted but the major reason was to avoid what you just pointed out. There are people who love the show, want to discuss it and find no issues with whatever is happening on the show. But the constant mocking and instigating is really making it hard to post here. I repeatedly keep saying I genuinely understand that some people do not like the show for whatever reasons and do not want to continue watching it, accepted. But why not allow others who still want to watch it and discuss it the chance to do so and respect that as well ? 😕

Much needed post thank you so much 😊

Thanks Jasmine.
Honestly, I don't think only active members are being affected here. The problem is, even if you just want to read what is written, you blood starts boiling after 3-4 pages. Because in between the good points are the negative mocking and insulting posts. There is no way you can ignore them.

I honestly, don't think replacement is the only reason things are bad here. Even back when ZoYaan happened, things were bad. There were those who did not care as long as the story continued and made sense and then others who made sure that they voiced their displeasure everywhere even where it was not needed.

So I think this is a universal problem that needs a universal solution. Closing topics left and right is unfortunately not really working.
