Even I feel, abusive, degrading, insulting and comparison comments should be deleted from the post.
Hope the mods find an amicable solution.
The solution that readily strikes is a delete button alongside the Report button, which only the TM can access. But that will involve a lot of coding I guess.

Can't think of any other implementable solution unless members learn to respect other's opinion and argue decently.

Mods, I'm sure will be having their hands full with this division in the forum. Deleting comments from posts would be very time consuming for them I guess. But deleting comments based on PMs from TM himself/herself can be looked into.

ANd if something positive comes out of it, I hope all those left due to negativity in the forum, return back.

Thanks for the support Gitey.
Exactly...let the TM decided which posts he or she wants to keep on her topic. I can see how this feature can be used in a bad way too, to target a certain faction of the forum. But I see more good than bad. There are TMs who request that don't be abusive, but no one pays heed to it.

I feel bad for the Mods too. They are volunteers who take up this job out of the goodness of their hearts. They don't have to babysit a bunch of people just because they don't know how to behave. It is this babysitting that I am sure even affects their moods and then at the end of the day, it becomes so tedious that closing down topics is the only option left.

I think the Mods do try their best to allow open discussions. But when too many people report a topic (irrespective of whether they participate or not), they have no option but to flag a topic.

Thanks for the response

Rivs,
I agree with you.
I really felt that some people coming to the to insult or degrade or hurt the feelings of others...
They are not at all tolerable.

I got annoyed by those comments and stayed away from those posts though they were good. It would be great if something is done abt this matter. Because good posts getting closed due to one or two individuals' lack of understanding of others' POVs really feels bad.

Thanks dear.

Let's not take names...it will keep things civil. Even better not even mention such things. They only make people upset.

Honestly, there are some topics that I do not even dare open since I know that they will be hard to read with an open mind.
