He has let his insecurities grow over the years, he was jealous of Zoya as a child, he resented her for having come into his home and taken over, and then as had was growing up he was kept away from his family...he blames her

It was an emotional update. Zoya told asad to take this as a compromise for the sake of daadi. He said yes finally. Nikkah happened & after giving her blessing to asad & zoya, daadi passed away.
