Couldn't they just live their own lives happily?

And why is it that Imran has absolutely no inkling about this whatsoever? How is it that his brother has been married for 2 years and he doesn't know shit?

If at the end of the day the whole motive is shown to be that Haseena just wanted the presents she would get out of marrying Farhan off to Nikhat, then that's just really really sad... and shallow!

There could be 2 reasons for Haseena hatred:

1. Haseena and Farhan have been somehow wronged by SM people and they are now taking revenge by torturing Nikhat, similar to Haider's revenge on Gaffy via Humaira.

2. Farhan is in to prostitutes and has no interest in Nikah, therefore, Haseena used Nikhat to marry Farhan for dowry and later both will drive her mad and Farhan can continue with his histrionics with call girls and won't get unwanted pressure from family and friends to get married as now he is a married man whose wife is in asylum.
