A/N: I had this idea running through my head and I HAD to get it down!
I was aiming to write it as a drabble, but it turned out to be longer than that but not long enough to be an OS as well. Limbo!

A loud wail from the baby monitor disturbed their sleep.
Zoya groaned at the sound and dug her face deeper into Asad's chest and grumbled something about loopy sleeping habits and demon child.
Asad, although as tired as his wife, chuckled at Zoya's passionate dislike on being disturbed while sleeping. Knowing well how grumpy she was going to be in the morning if the baby kept her awake now, Asad slipped out of her embrace and got off the bed.
" anks, h'ney. Y're ze est." Zoya slurred out sleepily. Asad shook his head at her and walked out of the room and down the hallway towards the nursery.
Pushing the door open, he walked in and saw his baby girl standing in her crib, clutching the bars of her small bed and crying. As soon as she saw her father standing in her room, she wailed louder and let go of her hands on the bars, which caused her to flop back on the mattress. The sudden movement made her stop crying for a few seconds but then she let out a loudest wail yet.
Asad crossed the room in two long strides and had her out of the crib and into his arms. He moved to switch off the baby monitor and let Zoya rest.
"What's wrong, princess? You should be sleeping and letting Ammi-Abbu sleep as well. Mostly, your Abbu, because we all know your Ammi can sleep through a freight train." He murmured to the baby.
Mahek looked at her father with her big brown eyes, totally at ease.
After checking for a soiled diaper and seeing if she was hungry, he found nothing. Asad sighed when he realized that their daughter was going to be Zoya's mini-me, at least in the drama department.
"Look at you - perfectly fine now! What was all that drama, huh? You just wanted to get one of us here, didn't you? You are too young to be making such devious plans, Ms. Khan!" he asked, knowing well that the baby could not understand a single thing that he said.
He swayed her gently and hummed a tune to a lullaby, in hopes of getting her back to sleep. Mahek laid her head on her daddy's shoulder and made little cooing sounds, which made Asad smile.
After a few more minutes of swaying, rocking and humming, Asad saw her eyes had started to droop and her tiny mouth formed a little pout - she was finally asleep. Very gently, Asad lowered her into her crib and removed his arms from around her. The moment Asad stepped away from her, the little babe woke up and started crying again.
Asad sighed and pulled her to him once more.
"What's the deal, baby girl? You are obviously tired, but why won't you sleep?" he asked the sleepy baby on his chest. She stopped crying as soon as he had her in his arms again and she looked at him with sleepy eyes and yawned loudly. He tried to get her to lie on her bed once again but she again started crying.
Asad finally pushed the door of the crib down and lay next to her. Half of his body was falling out of the tiny bed as he tried not to squash his daughter. She really has me wrapped around her little finger, Asad thought to himself. He almost laughed out loud at the satisfied sound Mahek let out as she snuggled closer to her father.
"I get it, I get it! You don't like your pillow, do you, princess? But you should know that Abbu is too big to fit here with you!" he exclaimed to the now sleeping baby.
His one-sided conversation was interrupted by a chuckle from the doorway. He looked up and found Zoya standing there. He gave her a sour look.
"You find my plight amusing, Zoya Begum? What are you doing here, anyway?"
Zoya walked inside and replied in a whisper, "You were taking too long in here and I can't sleep without you." She pouted at him, "And I am not enjoying your misery. I just find it amusing to see Asad Ahmed Khan lying in a crib. Now that is not something you get to see every day!" she jested.
Asad let out a sarcastic laugh, "Very funny, Zoya. Well, as you can see, I am kind of stuck here. I would gladly come back to bed but our darling daughter disagrees with me." They both looked at Mahek who was sleeping soundly on Asad's chest.
Zoya shook her head and said, "I see it's an Abbu's only time." She moved closer to the crib and bent down to pick the baby off of his chest.
Asad sat up as Zoya lifted Mahek and said, "What are you doing?"
"Well, she is clearly not going to sleep without you and you are so not going to sleep in that bed! So, we are taking her to bed with us." she explained.
Just as Zoya cradled Mahek, the baby let out an annoyed cry at being separated from her Abbu. It made Zoya roll her eyes as she passed her over to her husband, "Here, she is all yours."
Asad, who was now out of the bed, quickly grabbed her from his wife and murmured in her ears as they made their way out of the room. Mahek calmed down immediately and cuddled into Asad's neck.
"Yup, it's totally Abbu-only time." Zoya snorted as she gathered some of Mahek's favorite toys and her beloved blanket and made her way towards their bedroom as well.
